Sirloin hibachi with rice & veggies. Yummy!
    Dona G.

I love this place. Get the sirloin hibachi with fried rice and veggies, or ask for the low carb version with double veggies! So fresh and delicious.

    The "restaurant"
    Big D.

Located inside of a fairly decrepit Sunoco Gas Station (think mostly empty shelves w dusty overpriced snacks and stagnant slushy machines) the restaurant sign is prominently seen from 31st St. I have driven past this place a few times with the intention of stopping whenever I knew I would be in close proximity to a clean bathroom post my meal. Today was the day. I am not afraid of these types of culinary destinations. Just came back from a 5 star Mexican all inclusive resort, however love a street taco from any number of barely health department approved taco trucks in Temple too. I am very cognizant that these excursions can sometimes be disastrous to one's gastrointestinal system. I walk in and the place is bare. Restaurant (see pics) is alongside the register. One guy working there. No gloves no apron , street clothes on and earbuds in. He seemed to be able to manipulate a spatula as there was one person in front of me who ordered a fried rice dish. There were chafing dishes but all were empty. I saw the empty chafing dishes as a good sign that everything is cooked freshly to order. Let's cut to the chase.... Kitchen was clean enough. Menu is essentially limited to fried rice and noodle dishes. He was out of wonton soup. Prices are reasonable at $6.50 to $8.50. Food was bland (literally just noodles and some precooked reheated chicken pieces in my dish- see pic) but not stale or oily. "Tony" is the cashier, cook and dishwasher. Could be friendlier. But then again, who am I to judge. Was it terrible? No. Did my waistline need to eat a big boring styro clamshell full of noodles w chicken bits? Nope. And that's why I won't be back. Review update to be made if and when GI issues arise later today.

We were seated immediately and our waters came promptly. We needed a bit of time to look over the menu and didn't feel rushed at all. We ordered the chicken tan tan dumplings, which came out quickly and were fabulous. I ordered a paitan ramen with pork belly and my husband got the spicy tan tan with a mix of ground beef and pork. I thought the pork belly was hard to eat the way it was served, but I also think it was a standard way to serve it so it was a me problem. The spicy tan tan is ONLY spicy because of the meat and our server said it was probably a 2/5 on spice, but you can spice up the broth more if you want. Overall, great experience. Clean location with lots of parking, good food with a variety on the menu, and great service. We'll be back!

Go head and order the Pad Thai while reading this…read more The vibe of this restaurant is very intimate and inviting. I went in for lunch. The lunch menu has good options. I ordered the pad Thai with duck. I order pad Thai often and this is hands down the best pad Thai I've ever had. It was so flavorful and I loved the portion size. I had leftovers for the next day. My dish came with a veggie roll that was delicious. The service was friendly and willing to have a conversation. Great food and great experience.

For reasons I still cannot fully explain, Temple has developed a remarkably strong culinary scene…read more Italian, Mexican, and Thai cuisines are represented there with a level of quality, flavor, and aesthetic presentation that consistently exceeds expectations. I have previously written reviews about Pignetti's and Las Marias. Today, while driving back from Houston to Abilene, I stopped at Thai Café in downtown Temple. What an experience. Moni handled my order, and within minutes, my food was ready. I ordered the summer rolls and the crab noodle soup. The rolls, at first glance, resemble the standard versions you might find at HEB, Kroger, or similar grocery stores. However, what these very thoughtful chefs have done is elevate the dish with a distinctive dipping sauce and the addition of fresh basil, which transforms the rolls into something vibrant and unexpectedly complex. The flavors truly open up in a way that feels intentional and refined. But the real highlight was the crab noodle soup. It made my entire day. Thai Café is about three hours from my home, and I would genuinely consider making that drive on a Sunday just for this bowl of soup. The portion was generous, with abundant crab and noodles, and the broth was rich, layered, and deeply satisfying. I ordered it mild, but to my palate it was not spicy at all. Next time, I will not hesitate to ask for the full heat. If you find yourself in Temple, Thai Café is not optional. It is essential.

They also said anyone who doesn't try it is missing out... wish I would have gone with the Vietnamese dishes. Everything tasted fresh. The sauce for the orange chicken had little to no flavor. The cheese puffs were ok, I wouldn't order them again. The egg roll was a little better. Fresh, crunchy and good flavor. The dipping sauce, not so good. The shrimp were super over cooked. Barely had any flavor and the texture was very tough. Crunchy outside shell though. The dumplings were not the best and the dipping sauce also not good. The kitchen was gracious enough to split it into 2 bowls since we were sharing. And we still had leftovers! I wish we had more sprouts and cilantro on the side. I added Hoisin, soy sauce, and Sriracha. My mom added Jalapeños and Sriracha. Pretty good flavor when we added the sauces. The chicken wasn't the best quality, lots of fat that wasn't trimmed off. The cheese puffs were 2 stars. Nice crunch but simple. They are like crab rangoon minus the crab.

Absolutely amazed and will be back soon!!!…read more I went in today, I was the only person around 3pm. I explained it was my first time in her restaurant, and she handed me a menu and flipped through it with me and told me to take my time. I ordered only ordered some of the familiar favorites that I would usually order at other Thai restaurants. Crab Rangoons Chicken wontons Thai Tea Mango with sticky rice And Green Curry with Pork The Thai Tea was prepared immediately and I sipped on it while I waited for my food. It's perfect, and go ahead and get the Large size, it's worth every dime! They were extremely fast to complete my order (within 5-7 minutes), and since I ordered "To-Go", I only had the tea inside the restaurant... The Thai Tea alone made me inform them before I walked out that they gained a customer and I will be back :) The Crab Rangoons and Chicken Wontons were so delicious! Crispy/ crunchy and packed full with flavor! The Rangoons could barely close! The chicken wontons had the perfect crispy edge and the pocket of flavor in the middle, had a chunk of tasty chicken--- absolutely delicious! The mango w/ sweet sticky rice exceeded my expectations and was mouthwatering! The portion was at least exceeding my expectations by double. I am a fan :) ... The box had a perfect portion of Mango and underneath were 2 sticky rice patties in coconut milk. And the toasted sesame seeds on top added a nutty flavor too! Exceptionally Top Tier! The Green curry was ok... The portion was large. It had eggplant, green bell peppers, bamboo shoots, Thai basil, and a nice flavor. I asked for mild or "least spicy" because I can't handle spicy. It was good, it just didn't blow me away like the rest of my selections. Also, it came with a generous amount of steamed white rice. A Hidden Gem. Small, cozy space. Large thick menus with price changes in place. And a side "Pick-Up Only" window I didn't see used today. I shared 1/2 of all my orders with my man, he inhaled the food and agreed that it was delicious. We looked up the restaurant on Apple Maps just now to order more, but they closed at 8:30pm, so we were 20 minutes too late. That's ok, next time we will sit down together for dinner and try other options! I can't wait :)
