I've been meaning to try Yang's Dumplings for the last month or so and today I finally found the time to drop by. There was quite a line for dine in and so I decided to pick up some take out. Take out orders can walk right in and everything from ordering to pick up took around 10 minutes. The time barely felt like 10 minutes as I was occupied with looking through the window and watching the workers fold the dumplings one by one in the kitchen. I was skeptical of the fried buns as I've had many good ones in Richmond, but this one was good as it had a lot of soupy filling inside. The pork was delicious and flavourful and even the shrimp had some broth to it, which surprised me. I think I enjoy the filling at other places more, but the amount of soup in these ones are special. The duck meat vermicelli was a good enough classic - nothing extremely unique or special, but good enough to pair with the meal. Although everything was take out, it still tasted fresh and delicious. I would definitely return for dine out to get an extra fresh bite.

This hugely popular chain from Shanghai recently landed in Richmond & the hype is so real!! We've already been here twice so far in the past 2 weeks, & it's always so crowded, sometimes with lines out the door! On both occasions, we ordered the Couple's set ($59), which we felt was the perfect amount of food & variety of dishes for the 2 of us. The 2 types of sheng jian baos (生煎包) are the stars here, but their other dishes are also really good! I've tried many sheng jian baos here & in Asia, & I have to say these are the BEST I've had! Service is relatively quick once you've placed your order via scanning the QR code on the table. If you've had Yang's overseas, you already know. If not, this is your sign to go check 'em out!

My mom and I came here on a Monday for lunch and waited about 15 minutes in line outside. Luckily, it was a nice day. There was a lot of parking in the back of the restaurant off Alexandra Road. It was a first come, first serve system which made it quite efficient. The place was busy and we were seated at a table for two, connected to other tables. It wasn't very comfortable. The restaurant wanted you to scan a QR Code for the menu and to order. This is good if you are tech savvy. My mom didn't know what to do and would have struggled with it had I not been there. The food came out fast; especially the Yang's dumplings which is their specialty. Cash and debit only to pay at the end. The food was flavourful and the picture menu board was helpful. There was not a lot of protein given for the price we paid; especially in the bowl of shredded chicken rice noodle soup. It was nice to try, but we felt that only the dumplings were worth it.

I never was a fan of Shanghai style dumplings / wontons... until I tried YD tonight! My gf referred me to give it a try and it really updated my perception. There were about 20 ppl lining up ahead of us when we arrived at 5:17 pm, ummm... that's a sign of popularity! We got a table for 2 at 5:33 pm The service was prompt and courteous. Our food arrived in no time, hot and delicious! Our tea was refilled twice within 15 minutes... We left the restaurant at 6:06 pm with a full stomach. Overall experience is beyond my expectations.

Went to try with my cousin for lunch. Was a slight line up so wifey and I waited whilst cousin just arrived and was parking. Just after they arrived to join us in line.. maybe 5 minutes we were able to get a seat. There is a QR code on the table for you to order from. Whomever scans it can add to the order and you'll see if real time when something is ordered. The place is fairly new, open i believe since May '25, and it's Feb '26 as of this review. Interior is bright and tables look nice and clean. Chopsticks are a turquoise color, walls are lit up bright with lights and signs. We decided to try a variety of orders, we ordered 4pc pork fried bun, 4pc shrimp fried bun, duck vermicelli soup, and mini wonton in soup. The fried buns have a lot of soup inside and the tops are very delicate.. you can break it open just trying to grab it so be very careful or you'll spill the precious soup inside. I didn't do that but when I tried to gently bite the top top get at it.. it squirted like a geyser.. so even trying to nibble might not work lol. Very tasty and juicy for both types of bun. The shrimp is more expensive and although good I believe I'll stick with the pork next time I go. The duck noodle bowl came with shredded duck meat, one duck gizzard partially sliced so you can bite the pieces of yourself and a bunch of I'm assuming duck blood. The soup is light but does have a nice duck flavor. The noodles texture chewy and nice to eat. The mini wontons nice with pork meat, little morsels of dumpling yummy. The soup light but good enough to carry with the wontons. Overall very good and yummy to eat. Worth waiting in line for the fried buns. Oh did try some of the large wonton my cousin ordered. Very heavily mixed with veggies so if you like veg go for it. They were nice but I like meat lol.

i visited Yang's dumpling again after trying their yangs dumplings (pork dumplings) which were very good. This time we decided to try their noodles dishes. We again ordered the yangs dumplings which were consistent from my first visit, juicy and flavorful. We also ordered the small wontons in chicken broth, shredded chicken soup noodles and their signature duck vermicelli The chicken broth was a bit disappointing, quite mild and not much chicken flavor. the small wontons themselves were good. The amount of meat (both shredded chicken and the duck) were quite minimal as well as the noodles. this makes the cost of the noodles to be high. I would visit again though, but just for the dumplings.

The dumplings were basically juicy buns. They were definitely juicy and with a crispy pan fried bottom. The tofu skin soup was decent but I would still go to R&H

Yang's Dumpling has some of the best shengjian baos in Metro Vancouver. This was my second visit, and while still good, the bottoms were a bit too crispy this time. I'd definitely come back, though it's a little disappointing that the food isn't always consistent. There's usually a short lineup around lunchtime. The space is clean and pleasant, service is fast, and free parking in the plaza is a plus.

shredded chicken noodle soup all soup is gone

I was going to give 4 stars. The food is really good, I loved the chicken noodle soup and the baozi, both were very flavorful. The signature duck soup and hot and sour potato noodle were okay. I decided to order the chicken noodle soup and baozi to go, but when I got home, I realized the noodles and soup were not separated. The soup had completely soaked into the noodles and was basically gone. I also paid extra for the box/cup, which made it more disappointing. Do not order to-go if you don't want your soup gone. Great flavors, but the takeout packaging needs improvement.

This is great for those who like variety and want to have a complete meal with all the food groups. My favourite is definitely the pickled daikon/carrot and the cabbage salad! The food is not too salty and the broth was perfectly seasoned for my palate. My boyfriend also ordered an espresso romano which I had never tried before. The foam on top was surprisingly refreshing with a tart aftertaste of lime. The prices were also very fair with most sets averaging around $19-20 before tax. You order at the counter and pay after you're finished. This is a great place for a quick bite especially if you're in the Ironwood area of Richmond.

Rice cake was chewy, soft and paired with sauce so well and so addictive. Seafood fried rice was also great! Clam was so juicy and delicious! prawn was nicely firm and very good. Ingredients were outstanding. And Baked beach oyster was also great item. Oyster paired with each unique different flavor(Forgot to ask what kinds of each flavor..), Oyster itself was very large and creamy. Highly recommend this item, too. Throughout our visit, the waitress directed almost all of her attention to my husband. She explained everything to him in detail while barely acknowledging me. I was left to read the menu and figure out what to order on my own. I also noticed the same behavior at other tables. She spoke primarily to the men while largely ignoring the women. Even after I placed the entire order for our table, she continued checking only with my husband about everything we needed. When it came to drinks, after the two men had placed their orders, she didn't even ask me if I wanted anything before walking away, as if I were invisible. At the end of the meal, after I paid the bill, she turned to my husband, smiled only at him, and completely ignored me. It was extremely impolite and made me feel disrespected. The food was good, but the service was the worst part of the experience. Based on how I was treated, it felt discriminatory. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that every customer is treated with equal respect.

What's appealing here is that their Instagram advertises daily specials so you can get some dishes for a great discount (like 40% off). We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close. Sure it's fine no big deal, it was a lot of food.

We opted to share the Zenbu set (comes with variety of pork, chicken, cheese, seafood and veggie tempura) and realized we could get refillable rice, soup, and salad for both of us. This was awesome! I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken thigh. I normally always order pork katsu, but the chicken was tender and juicy. The scallop was huge and not rubbery at all! There was more than enough food for the both of us and we even both had leftovers for lunch the next day. We also ordered the lobster croquette, which was fun to try. Like any croquette, there was a lot of mixed ingredients apart from the lobster, but it was still tasty and fun. The staff were attentive at refilling items and were easy to flag down. This is definitely a place that I would return to again and again when I'm in the mood for Katsu.

She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

However, I know why this restaurant continues to be booked and busy. I have been various times before but this was the first time in the last few years. I would describe this restaurant as western fine dining for a Chinese palate. You'll find some classic dishes but less heavy on the salt and grease, perfect for myself and the party I was dining with. I ordered the 5 course meal which was a fantastic deal for $65. The bread service at the start is so warm and yummy - don't skip out on it! The pesto sauce tiger prawns weren't overly pesto forward and had a strong presence of garlic - perfect for me! I loved the chowder as I especially like corn. The portion was also perfect considering I had many courses coming afterwards. Next, came the crab cake, which was generously filled with crab and paired with delicious house made butter. For each dish, I found the garnishes pleasing as well (especially the strawberry which was so sweet and ripe!). I think the best deal of the night was the steak. It was not too salty and cooked perfectly to a medium-rare. I managed to have leftovers as well since the portions were overwhelmingly good. Finally, the star of the night was definitely the chocolate soufflé for me. I loved the rich bitterness of the chocolate paired with ice cream on the side. I don't think this place is the best representation for fine dining. After all, they do not serve any alcohol. However, I think it is a great deal and accommodating to my taste buds. If I do not wish to drive out for fancy food, I know I can rely on the food at Shoestring café. As it is a family run business, there is only one person managing the front and I think they do a pretty good job at juggling all the duties of a host, server, and table busser! The duck was well done but not tough (we generally like medium rare) though we were confused by why the skin was served down as crispy skin is always a plus for duck breasts. I'm not a fan of mashed potatoes but theirs was not overly heavy and buttery, which I really appreciated and enjoyed.
