The food tasted very good for good Court. Service was accurate, quick and friendly. Ambiance at food court was nice, tall ceiling, bright and clean. Will come again. I saw a sit down restaurant, with the same name, just a few blocks away. And it was fully occupied. So this must be a food court space of it. Smart!

Our go to restaurant for reliable xiao long bao and Taiwanese staples. Multiple Richmond locations have closed after this Gilbert location was opened. Ambiance is modern, clean and spacious. It includes two private rooms which require $300 minimum-spend. Servers work very efficiently, quick and fast. I also love the menu with pictures for each dish which makes ordering a breeze. Xiao long bao is a must here - they've perfected the skin that's thin but packs the juices in. We usually order the Smoked Duck, Hot and Sour Soup, Wonton in Chili Oil, Pork Strings wrapped in Pancake, Shanghai Noodles. They have new additions to the menu and this time we tried 水煮魚. Will be back for sure.

Tried Dinesty on Gilbert Rd for a birthday. The food was fine--pretty standard, nothing that really stood out. Prices were reasonable, though you could probably find better value at a food court. Service was on the slower side and a bit sparse, but they did accommodate us bringing in a birthday cake, which was nice. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of room between tables, and there's free parking underground, which is convenient. Overall, an okay experience but not somewhere I'd rush back to.

We came here on a recommendation and are SO glad we did. It is fantastic. Yes, you will probably wait. They have a semi-automated wait list. I say "semi" because they actually never texted us that our table was ready and the lady doing the seating seemed to be referring to a paper log (and also skipped us - we were sitting right in front of her when she called the number AFTER ours). Anyway! After that drama is over (you can walk around outside, there's a drugstore next door and some interesting architecture, as well as seating outside; indoor seating is minimal and crowded.) There's a boba tea spot incorporated into the site and into the menu. You can get it independently or as part of your ordering experience once you get to your table. However, it adds to the crowdedness of the lobby/entry area, which is accessible via the front door or an elevator to the parking lot (which was pretty cool and convenient). The parking lot is a trip - there are signs directly to every shop and/or restaurant and each seems to have it's own elevator. Moving on! We wanted to get a full "food tour" so we ordered a multitude of dishes from several parts of the menu, including appetizer, meat, tofu, and dessert. Out of everything we ordered we only thought one dish was so-so. The rest were superior. Especially wonderful was the tofu appetizer which took us straight back to China on the first bite. People say this is an "authentic" type spot (it is a chain, btw) and we could see why. The servers were rushed and tired; however the food came out very quickly (once we ordered). It's loud inside, or should we say "lively"? There are windows to look out but not a heck of a lot to see except the sidewalk. Focus on the food and the company.

When coming into the restaurant, the waitress sat us in right away. They were pretty attentive throughout the entire dining experience. The restaurant was very busy during the time we were there (around 6:00 PM). We ordered the jellyfish, the cold wine boneless chicken, pan-fried dumplings and 3 different types of soup dumplings (truffle, original and kimchi). The appetizers were slightly smaller than expected although the taste was quite good. The cold wine boneless chicken felt silky in the mouth while the flavour was mild and savoury without an overpowering alcohol taste. The pan-fried dumplings felt light and airy when you bite into them however, I felt the filling could be soupier as authentic 生煎包 are a little bit soupy. Still, the pork filling is seasoned well and is quite juicy despite not being soupy. Definitely still worth a try. As for the soup dumplings, I was impressed by the craftsmanship for both the truffle and the original flavours. The dumpling skin was thin and came out of the steamer without ripping. The soup was abundant and flavourful. For the truffle dumplings, the truffle flavour was obvious yet well-balanced whereas the original dumplings let the pork flavour shine. Later on, we also ordered the kimchi dumplings (not pictured). The dumpling skin on this additional order did stick to the steamer despite consuming them right away leading to a loss in soup. What soup I did have was very good as it had a subtle kimchi flavour without being too overpowering. (Note: the restaurant seemed extremely busy at this time which might have been the reason for a decline in quality) Lastly, we had the sweet and sour spareribs. They were sweet and sticky as expected without much deviation from what was expected of this dish. At times, I felt like there was a little too much sauce but that is a personal preference. Overall, I would say the dishes at Dinesty are worth a try. The price is quite good for the dumplings themselves however, the other dishes can be expensive compared to other restaurants.

Dinesty has been great every time I've been! The XLB is always consistently good (maybe not exceptional, but that's not necessary), and the different flavors of XLB they have are good as well. The Shanghai style rice cakes and their pig ears are two others of my go-to items here. And how could I leave out the sponge cake and sesame buns? Perfectly fluffy, steamy, and sweet. What sets Dinesty apart for me ultimately is the ambiance. The service is zippy as is in most Chinese restaurants in Richmond, but the establishment is spotless and huge. Always a great time with a large group!

Food was fine. I ordered the spicy mince pork and mushroom noodles and there were a lot of noodles but the mince pork and mushroom was lacking (though tons of sauce). The cucumbers were good but a little on the soggy side. Service was prompt and quick.

I always enjoy dining at Dinesty but this Dinesty seems to be very lacking or not even to be at the level of quality and taste compared to the other locations. Food here is overly salty. Service was ok. The place was super busy on a weekend when it opens for dinner. There was already a line up of people waiting for the doors to open at 5 pm. We ordered the sweet and sour soup and omg that was so salty that it was almost inedible. The pork soup dumpling was not bad that was tasty. We got two baskets of that. We then got the chicken chestnut and the pork belly egg tofu and to my surprise the two dishes uses the same sauce. Both dishes were salty but not as extreme as the sweet and sour soup. The pork chilli pepper had some good flavor underneath the saltiness. The sweet and sour grouper was the only dish that we ordered that was not extremely salty. The atmosphere here is nice. The place looks decently nice. However, the food quality and taste are below average. We would probably not be back unless a friend or family member wants to come here.

Never a disappointment here! We recently tried a few spicy items and though it wasn't for me, I think those who like spicy food will enjoy it. Free 90 minute parking! The place has a cute cat robot who delivers bubble tea, which you can get for 20% from Lattea, located inside. I find the servers friendly and many can speak English and Mandarin fluently. They also accept credit cards.

Dinesty has some solid xiao long bao! Great spot for large groups. Service was standard, once you are seated your order comes out fairly quick. Comparable to Dough Zone in the states but I feel the menu is bigger here. Great spot for lunch or dinner if you're in Vancouver. They have multiple locations around the area too which is a plus!

This is a potential for a 4 star but service was kinda lacking. This was part of our dumplings tour so we stopped by when they first open. They are really busy but we got lucky and was able to do a walk in, otherwise, recommend doing a reservation. We order: Pork and Kim chi soup dumplings - kimchi flavor is good but not enough soup Toon buns - the bun is really really soft and fluffy and the filling is standard (vegetarian) Siu Mai - standard Chocolate dumplings - I wish the chocolate was more melting like lava but it was more of a paste. They forgot to put our order in so we waited longer than we should have but otherwise they were very diligent in refilling our water and stuff. Overall, it was a good but not the best and you can definitely get better dumplings elsewhere and not have to wait that long and lower price

If you are a fan of Din Tai Fung, look no further. Dinesty Dumpling House has a similar menu however has more of a variety, cheaper options, and by far more tasty. Dinesty was highly recommended to us so we decided to check it out. This location has free underground parking up to 90 minutes. Menu consists of different type of dumplings like soup dumplings, noodle dishes, all different types of proteins and more. We decided to order: Xiao long bao (Soup Dumpling) -Flavorful, packed with a good amount of pork however by the time it got to us it was a little cold. Shrimp dumpling -This was okay however prefer the xiao long bao. A pass for me. Beef noodle soup -Hands down one of the best beef noodle soups I ever had. So much beef, chewy noodles, and the broth was delicious . Fried garlic tofu app -Reminded us of agedashi tofu but more flavorful. Has a nice kick to it and flavor. Cucumber salad -Refreshing as everything else was served warm. Reminded us of namasu (Japanese pickled dish) Pork chop w/ fried rice -Pork chop was delicious and was so tender. Could have done without the fried rice because it was a little too salty. Overall it was a great experience. We obviously order wayyyy too much food but we're glad we were able to try a variety. Service was friendly and prompt. Price was reasonable as portions are rather large. Would recommend ordering family style and sharing. Definitely worth coming to check it out if you're in Vancouver.

She wanted to go to Kirin. Plenty of parking in the mall. Hostess greeted and seated us promptly. Restaurant was busy but not crazy. This was at 10am on a Thursday. Waiters were attentive. Usual table service was in place. Took our order and food came out at acceptable pace. When we were done, they politely boxed up the leftovers and we paid our bill. So service was on point. The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. Yes come on a date or impress business clients/boss or family celebrations.

I have many Chinese friends in Vancouver, and my last visit to Kirin Richmond was in July 2024…read more This time, it was my birthday, and my friends insisted on treating me to Kirin Richmond once again. On a typical Sunday evening, the restaurant is usually fully occupied, but my friend had thoughtfully made a reservation a week in advance, so our table for five was ready upon arrival. As always, the restaurant was clean and well maintained, with good airflow thanks to the wide-open front entrance facing the parkade. The front desk receptionist greeted us cordially, and we were escorted to a cozy table in a comfortable location -- not too close to the washrooms, which I appreciated. Our meal began with the Kirin Special Assorted Cold Appetizer, followed by Crab Meat, Dried Scallops, and Fish Maw Soup. The soup arrived piping hot and was delicious, with a generous portion that could easily have served eight people. We also enjoyed Pea Tips Braised with Bean Curd and Assorted Mushrooms in Consommé, Marinated Free-Range Crispy Skin Chicken, Fillet of Cod Sautéed with Seasonal Vegetables, and Live Crab in Consommé with Ginger and Green Onion, served with E-fu Noodles. Overall, the quality and taste of every entrée were excellent. Service was top-notch -- tea and hot water were refilled constantly, bones and used plates were replaced promptly, and the servers were friendly and engaging throughout the evening. My friend and his family have apparently been regulars at this location for over two decades, which likely contributed to the exceptional attentiveness we received. However, one aspect of the experience genuinely disturbed me. All servers, including the captains, continued to wear masks at all times. While this practice was understandable two years ago, now -- five years after the onset of the pandemic, with COVID-19 managed similarly to other seasonal respiratory illnesses -- the continued universal masking in a fine-dining environment feels unnecessary and detracts from the overall guest experience. Fine dining, in my view as an avid foodie, is built on human connection, hospitality, and personal interaction. Masks create a more impersonal, almost clinical atmosphere. In a well-ventilated space like this, the environmental risk does not seem to justify the visual and social trade-off. Rather than providing reassurance, the persistent masking may unintentionally signal that the environment is unsafe or that management is out of step with current provincial health guidelines, where masking is now a personal choice rather than a mandate. Final verdict: Food & Service: 5/5 Ambience: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 -- as the current aesthetic feels more like a relic of 2020 than a leader in 2026 hospitality.

May be it's because we are all in "food coma" by the end of dinner! This visit was for dinner - and we were outside the door waiting even before they opened at 5:30. On a Tuesday. And we were already second in line. Celebrating a birthday, we had cold jellyfish starter, lobster fried e-fu mein, braised pomelo skin with seafood, and beef fried kai lan. The lobster was perfectly cooked. Even slight over-cooking can make the lobster meat tough. However, every piece was perfectly cooked. Including the large claws. Cooked with ginger and scallions, the lobster gravy coated each strand of e-fu noodles to umami yumminess. The braised pomelo skin was a special seasonal dish. I have not had this dish in many decades, and when I saw this in the special seasonal menu, I had to get it. The bittersweet braised pomelo skin complemented perfectly the fresh seafood, and topped a bed of Chinese spinach. It was the first time for the other members of my family and they literally sucked it all down. The beef with kai lan was another standout. Beef slices were tender and delicious and that perfectly complemented the well seared gai lan - great evidence of wok hei. Service is exemplary. Not just for a Chinese restaurant, but for any restaurant. The servers are constantly on the alert, and Everytime they see a plate filled with lobster shells, they would whip it away and replace it with a clean plate. They made sure that tea cups were filled and kept us updated with the delivery of the next dish. And at the end of the meal, dessert (Tong Shui) was complimentary... and they added a wonderfully light and flaky walnut cookie and piece of mochi for each of us.

We dropped by Chef Tony's not for dim sum this time, but for a dinner that turned into a delightful adventure. And let me tell you, the dinner menu is every bit as much of a superstar as their famous dim sum spread. We started with their elegant truffle chicken, which came out like a work of art--shredded truffle and all. The fish dishes were equally impressive: a delicate stir-fried fillet with snow peas that was light yet flavorful, and a crispy, salty fish dish that had us all nodding in appreciation. Add in a glass noodle dish with cabbage that felt like a cozy hug, and a plate of garlicky greens to keep things balanced. And yes, someone slipped in a sweet and sour pork for that old-school comfort. The ambience was a notch above your typical Cantonese joint--think upscale decor and a lively, bustling dining room that still felt welcoming. And the service? Well, it came with a side of comedy. We had one waiter who was so gruff and hurried that he turned our group photo attempt into a running joke for the night. We ended up laughing about it and getting a nicer waitress to take a proper photo, but honestly, it just added to the charm.
