Front desk service - not nice, but rather rude. When I scheduled my appointment on the phone, I explained that I needed a contact lens exam nad that I wear multifocal lenses and was quoted a price of $110 plus the retinal exam fee. I confirmed the cost at the end of the call again mentioning lens exam because I wanted to be sure of the total amount. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told in a tensed manner that the actual cost would be $169 and also the front desk repeated several times that she is not going to change the price (and I was not asking for that!) . The doctor arrived about 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, which was not a major issue. However, before seeing me, the front desk staff went into the doctor's room, and after a brief conversation they both laughed, which felt uncomfortable given the situation. When the doctor came out, she asked how she could help. After I explained what had happened, I was told that the original quote was the result of a misunderstanding during the phone conversation. I understand that misunderstandings can happen, and I have no issue with that. What disappointed me was the way the situation was handled. The communication felt dismissive rather than courteous, and the overall interaction did not reflect the level of professionalism I would expect from a medical office. read more

I would give Dr. Repkin more stars if I could! I had an exam and got a prescription from her back in April, and had two pair of glasses made at the Walmart optometry center next to her office. One pair of glasses was great but the other was "off". Finally took them back in June, after the "bring back for any reason" guarantee had lapsed. Dr. Repkin checked both pair of glasses, determined that they were made correctly, and then walked with me over to the optometry department and told the staff person there, Samantha, how she thought the frames might be modified slightly to fix them. Samantha made the changes, AND I got a new pair of frames because she found a slight defect in the ones I had. Now the glasses work perfectly and I could not be more pleased!! read more

I've always been satisfied coming here for my annual exam (I wear contacts and have been coming here for several years). However, the most recent visits have been "over the top service". About 6 months after my last exam, I noticed my vision getting worse, especially when it gets a little dark. I've had to see Dr. Repkin a couple of times over a 2-3 week period to make sure the next prescription would be the best for my eyes and eyesight. I never felt like I was just a number. I felt she truly cared about me and shared the concerns I had. The 5 star rating is based on my experience with Dr. Repkin and one of the receptionists that I've spoken to on the phone a few times (didn't catch her name). When I physically go into the office for my appt, there's a different receptionist who seems a bit rude and doesn't care for service. I would give her 1 to 2 stars tops. I had a contact lens exam with Dr. Repkin today. She is professional, competent, and took the time to explain to me about monovision. She addressed all of my questions and concerns. She made sure I had no questions anymore by the time I left her office. Her technician Debbie is wonderful. The office is inside Walmart, but don't let this deter you. The office is nice, clean, and organized. They provide great service. They do take walk-ins if they have availability, but I recommend scheduling an appt. I scheduled my appt. online and the process was simple and easy. Their documentation/charting is paperless (iPad) except for the patient intake form. I will be going to Dr. Repkin from now on for my yearly exam. I highly recommend her! read more

Her office was very clean and organized. The pricing for contact lense exam was fairly cheap compared to other offices I've researched. I also purchased a Retinal Exam for $25.00, it was very awesome I got to see the insides of my eye, which was pretty cool. All in all I would recommend her office. read more

I dropped by this office when my mom's Costco membership ended and we no longer ate in large bulks. The young receptionist gave me a bad vibe when she came back from her lunch, passed by an older woman and I waiting by the door, unlocked the door and let it close behind her without a word. BUT, when it matters she's actually very helpful and patient. Listens to your questions, checks up on your trial pair status, etc. Dr. Repkin in another story. I don't know if this is being too picky, but someone forgot to teach this woman the basics of professionalism. She looks like a mess and always smells like whatever she ate for lunch. I'm not picking at this because how're you going to disregard the hygiene of your mouth and talk while inches from my face?? Also, in all the years I've never had a doc pull down on my under eye area to get a look inside. Unnecessary. Lastly, I'll end by agreeing with Shagg E. I asked her to change my prescription to something cheaper, since i didn't want to pay 100 something per box, and when I asked her how this would change my vision she replied verbatim, "It'll be less." I stared at her face for a few seconds and asked less of what. In blurriness? In my astigmatism? I can't recall what she said after that because she didn't say much. I know she danced around the question. Would've taken less time to just tell me less of WHAT. How completely thoughtless and, again, unprofessional of her to dismiss my question and send me out the door. Also, she crossed out 2 boxes on my Rx because she messed up and wrote the correct numbers underneath her scribblings. Again, unprofessional. Get a new damn piece of paper. read more

I love Dr Repkin!! Been going to her for years she is seriously the nicest doctor I've ever had she actually sits and talks to you not one foot in and out the door like others. It is so fast and easy with her . She's very personal and friendly and explains everything very easily, I moved to hillcrest but no matter where I move I will always go to her . I've been to a few optometrist before but none of them treats me like Dr Repkin does. She's amazing! My first visit was 3 or 4 years ago. The staff was okay but nothing out of the ordinary. When it was my turn to get checked, everything went well and smooth. Overall, I came in just to get a new prescription for contacts and she gave me both that and glasses prescription for the price of one! I have astigmatism, so normally my check ups with trial lens are much more than a normal person but I spent less than $90 without insurance. (Prices may change within the years. Maybe not) My eyes are also super sensitive. She found out I had an eye infection at the time and gave me a prescription for that also. After going in the second time for a follow up, my eye infection treatment dried up my eyes and she gave me drops on the spot to lubricant them! She literally goes above and beyond. I love that she gives us reminder text when your prescription will expire and birthday text too! The only thing that was weird at first was when she checked my eyes, gave me my prescription and said,"I THINK this will work for you." Which made me think twice but I'm glad I came here and will not go anywhere else! read more

I was in and out of the office in no time flat, but still felt like I was given 5 star service... in a Walmart of all places! Contact lense quality is good but glass quality is bad. Instead of making me see better, the glasses make my eyes see worse. When I wear the glass it looks like a fish bowl vision. Dr. Repkin is an excellent doctor and graduated from UC Berkeley. I feel confident in her skills as a doctor and that she truly cares about my vision and the health of my eyes. I like the fancy retinal camera. That's cool. It seems to me her equipment is all the newest technology. It is so convenient for me to be able to see a doctor with her credentials at Walmart when there for vacation. I cannot believe that a previous reviewer actually complained that Dr. Repkin gave too thorough an exam and should not have checked your eyelids for contact lens complications. Dr Repkin may have been out of the way for my eye appointment, yet Her visit was well worth the extre mile. From her Assistant Shayna, to the exam and time taken by Dr Repkin, a review is a must. I tried another office that was more convienent, and I was very disappointed by the abrasive treatment. I went there as with no appointment. I was there as a second person when they opened. They made me wait an hour to just let me know that my insurance does not work with them. I called my insurance and they said they are on the list of provider and they have not sent us anything. Overall experience was really bad. read more

I was a patient with dr. Yana for two years before relocating to Orange County. My appointments with her for my contact prescription always went really well. She is a very smart doctor, friendly, and fairly easy to schedule with. Dr. Repken herself was sweet and competent. Her receptionist "Debbie" on the other hand was the rudest, most unprofessional and downright nasty customer service representative I've ever dealt with. I went in with an eye emergency and was immediately confronted with eye rolls, back talk (yes like a child) and obvious annoyance. You know that feeling you get when you can tell someone is bothered by you being there? Yea, it was all over this employees face. She ruined the entire experience. I had to go in 2 separate days and both days she was miserably bothered by my paid appointments. It took alot of self control on my behalf to not confront her on the way she was treating me and other customers. It was ridiculous! And later, while in the exam room, the doctor offered to cut me a special price for a return visit. I couldn't help but literally laugh in her face-im NEVER going back to this office! Is she completely unaware of her staff's horrible attitude/professionalism(Or lack of?) I cannot imagine how she would not know how horrible her receptionist is. Either way, I'm never going back here even if it is a good deal. The saved money is not worth it! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! Debbie will ruin your entire eye exam with her negative attitude. Also, debbie is the tech that did my "medical portion" of my exam(sounds professional right?) Anyways, she left during each test. I sent my daughter in to Dr Repkin for her yearly contact lense check up. We are new to the area and she was listed on our insurance plan. My daughter has worn the same Rx lenses for several years. Dr Repkin changed her Rx and my daughter couldn't even read the clock on the wall. When we called to ask for the Rx that has been perfect for the last 3 years, she said that we would have to come back in for another exam. Hence, another charge. We went to a different Dr on our plan for a different opinion. $120 later, we find that her eyes had NOT changed at all and her current Rx would have continued to be perfect. I'm very dissatisfied with Dr Repkin. Definately will never go back and would not recommend. Now, if only I could get a refund. We will try. I guess I should not trust an eye doctor in a Walmart. Very disappointed with this office. I called and was able to make an appt same day. I've been here before and gave my ins info to them over the phone. When I arrived, no one was at the front desk and it was 10min before anyone came out. The front desk lady hadn't run my ins ahead of time despite having the info and then tried to charge me $20 over my copay through my insurance. So I asked her why it was more and she stated that it was for a contact fitting. I explained to her that I've already had a fitting done before and have never had to pay an addl fee at any of my previous visits. She then stated that their fees have gone up and that's why. So I told her I would probably go elsewhere at which point she decided to tell me "Okay, well it's going to be the same everywhere else". Dr. Repkin is the best Dr EVER! I have followed her from her practice in El Cajon to Poway despite the travel time. She is the only one who has been able to correctly fit me with contacts and has given me the clearest RX for glasses. I have found her not only friendly and thorough but very understanding of my SPECIFIC ( picky) needs. Her staff is pleasant and took care of me promptly and would give them a good rating also. If you want a doctor that makes you comfortable and will give you incrediable service shes the one. I have had glasses for 17 years now and contacts for 7. Every year i would go to a new doctor unstatisfied, I have been going to Dr. Repkin for 5 years now enough said! read more

I usually have my eye exam done at Costco, but after finding out they were booked almost a month in advance, I made the mistake of walking in to Dr. Repkin's office in March. After the overpriced exam was over, I was given a pair of contact lenses that blurred and strained my right eye, the reason being that "my astigmatism was worse and it would take a couple days for my eyes to get used to the new prescription." I took them out and put in my old contacts when I got home, and I saw just fine. Now being in the beginning of October, I finally got around to using my new prescription to buy 4 boxes of contacts and a pair of glasses from Costco for $400, only to find when I got them that my eyes did NOT in fact get used to them, my eyes were examined incorrectly, resulting in me being given an incorrect prescription, resulting in the glasses severely straining my right eye even MORE than the contacts did. When I called Dr. Repkin's office to notify them of the mistake on my prescription, I was told to come in the next day and they would recheck me, free of charge. I walked in this morning and sat in the examination chair, only to be told I had to pay an additional $30 for the "office visit fee", which I most CERTAINLY do not think I have to pay for since it was not my mistake to begin with. I ended up just getting up and walking out without a word. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this disgusting office, and I WILL be filing a complaint with the Board of Optometry, as well as suing these people if this problem is not resolved ASAP! I do not recommend for anyone to go to this hell hole, I guarantee your experience will not be satisfactory. If a zero star review was allowed to be given, I would have given it! read more

Call this a biased review if you'd like but I have worked for dr repkin and been a patient of hers so I have seen both sides. As a boss couldn't have asked for a better experience, and it's very hard to come by decent employers. Our office ran like a well oiled machine and 99% of our patients were very pleased with her thorough exams and the fact that she took the time to educate the patients. She is one of the few employers that takes the time to take suggestions from her employees and didn't hold herself higher then anyone. We worked well as a team and learned at a lot from each other. Now as her patient my review is just as high as earlier. Her thorough exams and the explanations she gives save patients from making unnecessary follow ups if they just listen to her and take her word for it. She is the doctor. She is willing to give out trials or accommodate patients when necessary. Of course certain prescriptions are more difficult to nail on the first try but her schedule is very open to everyones work day. Her office is equipped with the best instruments to make it easier on the patients. The retinal camera gives people the option to bypass dilation and still get a detailed exam in the most efficient time. As for her staff they are just the icing on the cake. With the wide variety of patients that come through everyone is treated the same and are all given the best treatment. Even during the peak of the day when it can be stressful walk in appointments are all accommodated and everyone walks out happy. So all in all dr repkin is the one who gets the job done and a goodjob at that. I'll keep going back and advise you all to do the same! read more

I am very dissapointed in this optometrist. After taking a 9 year old there twice his glasses still were not the right prescription. He still wasn't getting good vision. The school and his complaints about his new glasses alerted me there was an issue. So I took him back for a second exam and sheu literally said she can only get him as good as 40/60 which is horrible by anyone's standards on vision. He still was having extreme eyesight issues and not receiving the proper prescription after two exams. I took him today to lenscrafters. Not only did they give him three different eye test I didn't see her provide him. They dilated his eyes because they could tell the problem right away. That his muscles were working too hard. So they dilated his eyes so he could have them rest and get a good prescription. Not only were wonderful with him. Both the assistant and doctor were shocked how off the prescription was that Dr. Repkin had provided him. She examined him twice a couple months apart! Which is why I am writing this review. They were very shocked about the prescription he was given for his eyes. Perhaps she doesn't do well with kids. I am not sure on that matter; however, I would not recommend trusting her expertise given my experience. read more

went to get a check up for my contacts, it had been a year and one eye had bothered me. she gave me an eye exam and assigned a new pair of contacts to me. the prescription had changed and when i asked why it was so she never gave me a straight answer. she told me to just try the contacts and see. i was thoroughly unsatisifed with her inability to tell her patient why she was doing what she was doing. I asked for a copy of my information for my records and when i got home realized my initial had been FORGED on the part regarding informed consent! I do not recommend this site at walmart. read more
