This is exactly my favorite kind of restaurant. My best friend knew it too. He loves this place and has lived on the island 15 years. Knowing that Lebanese food is my favorite of all this was one of our first stops in my two weeks stay. This is a family owned place with the owners behind the counter and working in the kitchen, they appear to be husband and wife, and they couldn't be more friendly or kind. They were so very nice to us and answered all of our silly questions. The food here is magnificent! I had never had tabouli fries before, that was the first. My buddy said their fries were excellent and they are, they are double fried and very crunchy. That is my favorite kind of fry. Pillowy soft on the inside too. The beef-lamb shawarma was special. We got the one with the hot sauce and added more. We are both also chilli heads. I will absolutely be bringing my wife here when we return to the island in the fall. Yalla is 5 stars all the way. Lots of locals in and out while we dined. They know this place is special. read more

The lamb shank dinner is my favourite, so tender, tasty, and juicy, but the RICE which comes with this dinner was amazing. That's right a Chinese guy that likes middle eastern rice!!! Oh! It's also priced very reasonably. Ps. Please don't raise the prices because of reviews like this. read more

This was my first and last visit to Yalla Restaurant in Victoria, BC. The food was, without question, the worst I have experienced in my lifetime. I ordered the Persian stew Ghormeh Sabzi, and my cousin ordered the chicken and ground beef kabobs. The rice that was served appeared to be ordinary jasmine rice and was poorly cooked. It lacked the quality and flavor expected from a Persian restaurant. I could not eat it because of its taste and texture. I brought the rice home for birds. The Ghormeh Sabzi was also very disappointing. It was canned stew ( Gilaneh brand )rather than freshly prepared food, with only a small amount of meat added. The salad was not fresh and appeared carelessly prepared and presented. The service was equally disappointing. The waiter's shirt was visibly dirty, and his overall appearance did not reflect a professional dining environment. The kabobs were poorly prepared and lacked flavor. Unfortunately, I could not find anything positive about my dining experience. If you are looking to waste your time and money, this may be the place for you. Otherwise, I would strongly recommend choosing another restaurant. read more

Nice little spot serving up fresh eats! I was debating between going to Superbaba or here, and decided to try Yalla since we have the former in Vancouver. I got the falafel bowl and it came with a kale and herb salad, which I thought had a little too much mint. The falafel was perfectly crispy and well-flavoured. There was 5 toonie-sized falafel. While it was good, but the portions were pretty small. I had eaten a little prior to coming here, and was expecting to leave with some takeout, but that wasn't the case. My husband from Jordan and I had lamb shank with rice, fries with yogurt dip. The lamb was dry, the rice was crunchy, and the fries were welded together in chunks. The service was average. Wow, the food is amazing, I really really love Yalla! We just did a pickup and the food from Yalla was AMAZING ! The haloumi salad had a *lot* of delicious cheese, tasty tomatoes, cucumbers and I think I could taste a hint of mint. Good portion size as well. The Fallafel wraps were fresh, Not dry at all and had a delicious tzatiki-like sauce. They also had a bit of beets and that added to the flavour and colour. Yum!! First time I had an authentic falafel was when I was 15 and in Amsterdam. The pickled beets on the falafel wrap really make it something special! We had a lunch at Yalla restaurant . We ordered chicken shawarma wrap and a Falafel platers. The shawarma wrap was very tasty and cooked to order . Pita bread was fresh and flavoured with spices the chicken was chard and tasty , the condiments within the wrap were very selected items with lots of flavour. I enjoyed the wrap very much . Falafel itself were very tasty crunchy outside ,soft inside . The hummus was very good and the plate was served with fresh salad and others. The Halloumi Kale salad is to die for and I'm not one to rave about food like this especially salad but my GOD! If you're visiting Victoria or if you're a local, this must be on your list of places to eat at! My partner likes to have extra protein and I asked for the turkey shawarma to be added to the Halloumi...he cannot get enough! So kudos to Yalla on their amazing food!!! This was a terrible disappointment. My husband and I love Israeli food and it got decent reviews so I thought I'd try it. My fattoush salad was a meagre pile of greens with 3 pita crisps and 4 little cubes of cheese. Literally looked worth about $1.50, not the $12-14 they charge for it. It was also tasteless And contained very few other vegetables. Really pathetic. my husbands falafel in pita was equally meagre. total rip-off and not even good. spend your money at one of the many really delicious and worthwhile eateries in Victoria. I like the idea of shwarma: meat with many lightly pickled vegetables. However, this one was too spicy for me. I can't tell exactly what it was... black pepper? But anyways, it was too much sensation on my lips distracting me from savoring the flavors of all the components. The limonana was too much, as well.
