We've been here several times and I can't believe I'm only just now writing a review for this awesome chill-out spot! Ali makes everyone feel special on every visit. He remembered us on just our second visit! I don't think we've ever had a flavor we didn't like, and they'll talk with you to figure out what's perfect for your mood, event, food, drink, or the cut of your jib. ;) The whole place is clean, comfortable, and completely inviting, whether you're chilling alone or hanging out. This place looks really sketch from the outside, but it's actually a GREAT hookah lounge. I've been to a few in Austin that were seriously crap, but Yahala offers a comfortable environment, clean hookah equipment, and yummy flavors. The interior decoration feels really middle eastern with lots of cushions! And this place usually has a few people lounging around so it's not awkward with just your group of friends and the owner. The owner was also super nice when we went. We were having trouble changing the charcoal out, and he saw us trying (and failing) so he came over to our couch and very politely showed us how to do it properly. He told us how he doesn't like how some hookah places let only the owner change out the charcoals, so he likes to show his customers how to do it so they can change it out whenever they want! I had heard about Yahala here on Yelp and wanted to check it out for myself. After all, it was my wedding anniversary and wanted to try something new. Keep in mind, this was my first time in a hookah lounge (and my husband's second time), so I have nothing to go by: I'm a n00b. However, I was IMPRESSED with the prompt service (from the owner, no less!), the quiet atmosphere, the flavors, the cleanliness, and the mediterranean mint tea was DELISH! This place is so relaxing! Ali, the owner, is possibly the most friendly person on the planet. The coffee is delicious as are all of the flavors offered for the hookah. There are couches arranged in little nooks so each area feels private and comfortable. This is a great place to hang out with your friends and play games or to relax and read a book by yourself. It is BYOB if you are so inclined. If you've never experienced hookah and are squeamish about sharing a mouth piece, you have nothing to worry about here as everyone is given their own disposable mouth piece to use. Somehow the room does not feel stuffy nor does it smell stale, like so often happens at other places. It's both cool and comfortable. You can call ahead to make reservations. Best hookah venue in Austin without a doubt!! I would highly recommend! The owner and staff are so friendly. They go out of their way to make one feel welcomed and make you feel like family. The ambience is relaxed, with soft music playing in the background, a variety of comfy seating options and reminds one of being in an exotic far away land. Visiting from Houston, local friends said this was their favorite hookah place. I can see why. The place isn't super luxurious, but it's a cozy atmosphere and great lounge, and it's BYOB. The hookah itself is pretty good and they have a good selection. I think what brings this place to 5 stars is the great service. I barely do hookah. If anything I just started a year ago. I am from Houston, and its very hard to find a place I am satisfied with. This includes: the hookah itself, customer service, cleanliness, and environment. Came to Austin for a relaxed girls weekend, and we saw this place next to the place we were going to go have dinner (Apreggio = AMAZING). Yahala Hookah Lounge is perfect. The customer service is on point. We had this one guy named "Lace", and he was VERY attentive to our needs. Checked on us periodically. The Hookah is really good. We had the Code 69 the first night, and we came back for a second night in a row (yes, we love that place that much) and had Peaches something??? Both very good flavors. One of the owners Ali was also very nice. We loved how we got to sit on the floor and relax/sprawl out a bit while doing hookah. Not places have that atmosphere, and I am always for one sitting on the floor if the opportunity presents itself. Of course, us oldies, they had board games for us to play also :) so we were pretty happy with that. Their Spice Chai Tea is soooooo good! The staff is extremely hospitable, the different seating is strategic (beware of the mega comfortable sofas, you'll definitely lose track of time), and the selection of tea flavors is fabulous. I love this place! It's in strip mall and is possibly less atmospheric than some other hookah lounges, but I rather enjoy the ample lighting and the abundance of tables. I have only been on weeknights, but I have never seen it too crowded. The owners are super nice and give great service. On a Friday night, the place was comfortably filled with mostly UT age clientele. Although the sofas we lounged on were something to be desired. Its quiet, the gal at the bar left us alone, maybe too alone, I like it when someone comes to shuffle your charcoal. Noting my ick factor phobia, I don't think I will be frequenting this place as much as other hookah lounges in Austin, but for a small authentic escape, you may enjoy this lounge. read more

It's a nice little place with couches and tables all over. We got a mix of the tangerine dream with blue mist. It tasted so good! The lady working was so nice and she was always checking on our coals. I wasn't expecting that so it was nice. I would come back here! I really like this place, more laid back and quite then the other hookah bars around town. I really like the diversity of this place, it was a very interesting mix of people here and the shisha was very good and smooth.
