We had cafe de olla and some dishes that made for an amazing brunch. We ordered a plate of Arrachera with tortillas and Bistec Encebollado (steak with onions) with beans. On the same plate we had chicharrones en salsa, a breakfast staple in this city. To balance the heavier dishes we had a Jugo Verde drink made from fresh pineapple and parsley. The staff were so friendly, we felt at home with the kind approach and nice ambiance. The decor is traditional and tasteful, we had such a fun experience. Since I was one, I was seated immediately in a table for four. I ordered cheese quesadillas and a limeade. Wait staff are plentiful and walk back and forth between tables. The place gets packed. You gotta dress up the menudo with oregano, dry chili flakes and all the lemon you can squeeze. The pellizcada or "pinched" is just tortilla masa pinched into the shape of a thick taco with edges. The molletes or a bolillo cut in half (aka Mexican crunchy bread similar to a French baguette) comes sweet or savory. I got me a beans, chorizo and cheese one. This one was good. Cafe de olla and Jamaica to drink although I should've gone with a freshly squeezed juice instead. Big tables so you sit cafeteria style. Street parking. There is always a guy outside in the street "watching over" your car who will follow you for a tip. Up to you if you want to give him some pesos. Wish they had more of these spots in LA.
