Our tour guide recommended this place which was walking distance from the hotel. When I got there, there were folks sitting on a bench at the entrance waiting for a table. Since I was one, I was seated immediately in a table for four. I ordered cheese quesadillas and a limeade. Wait staff are plentiful and walk back and forth between tables. The place gets packed. The quesadillas come with beans but they're cooked with lard. At no extra cost, the waiter was able to substitute the beans with steamed veggies. The food is delicious.
Great food, service, and staff. The wait wasn't that long and we were given small Coronas to enjoy while we waited. I watched waiters/bus boys run up and down cleaning off tables. The restaurant is centrally located downtown and appeared to be a favorite for locals. I came here because I heard my grandmother loved eating here back in the day. So I ordered the chicken pozole. It came in a medium size bowl. It was delicious and loved the broth. My family enjoyed other meals. All in all we all had not complaints and very much enjoyed our meals. It's a clean place and with nice bathrooms.
Food was amazing. Everything tasted home made with real and fresh ingredients. I got the caldo tlalpeño and it was amazing. The broth was clean and savory, and the chipotle added a nice flavor. The cheese with the vegetables was a great combo too. Also, get the beans!!!! This restaurant may have converted a non-bean eater into a bean LOVER! No kidding, the beans here are really good, rich, and creamy, they almost tasted meaty to me. I will be thinking of this restaurant forever.

Delicious. Bit of a wait to get in (maybe 15-20 minutes) but well worth it. Once seated, service was quick and attentive. Prices are good, maybe a little high for the area but portions are large. I ordered the carne asada which was roughly $240 MXN. It came with rice, beans, potatoes, and a simple salad. Besides the salad, which was expectedly boring, everything was fabulous. The potatoes were seasoned to perfection, the beans and rice were nice complements to the meal, and the meat was heavenly. Just so tender and seasoned deliciously. There were four salsas on the table and all were fabulous. The red one (not the pico) has a bit of a kick to it. The green was my favorite. They also brought out complimentary tostadas as a pre-meal snack. Food is truly excellent and I would return in a heartbeat.
THIS IS IT!!! This place is a destination for many who live and visit here for a reason. We split Torta Ahogada which is braised pork shoulder little frijole fresh hoagie smothered in tomato sauce. Damn good staple of Jalisco. Also recommend the Chicken Special with 1/4 chicken, potatoes, tostadas, flauta, enchilada and side greens. Wait in line was worth it
We couldn't help but notice the line stretching down the street, so naturally, we had to check this place out! The atmosphere can best be described as warm and inviting--truly a homey spot where you feel welcomed the moment you walk in. The servers were incredibly friendly and more than happy to guide us through the menu, answering all our questions with patience and enthusiasm. We went with the server's recommendations, and wow, they didn't disappoint! Of the three dishes we tried, the Torta Ahogada and the Pozole Blanco stood out as absolute must-haves. The flavors were bold, authentic, and perfectly balanced. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area, it's definitely worth the wait!
This came highly recommended by my fiancé's coworker who lives in Mexico and his parents vacation in Guadalajara every year. After looking at the popularity on Google Maps, I was sold! We stopped by here TWICE during our time in Guadalajara. Every meal was delicious. It is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Mexico. My favorite dish was the pozole con pollo. Amazing flavors and the soup was so comforting. The handmade tortillas are excellent, we ordered lengua and made lengua tacos with them. The line can be quite long but it moves quickly. We came at 12PM Saturday and waited about 15min for a table. When we left at 1PM there was no more line!

Nice ambiance, nicely decorated. Great, quick service even though it stays packed and there's not much room to feel comfortable. All the staff worked together to make sure everything was taken care of. Tomato bit salsa was good with the tostadas, the green sauce was good and the red sauce was the hottest. Guacamole was excellent, nicely seasoned with a little kick to it. I ordered the chorizo quesadillas and they lacked a lot of flavor. The beans were just ok, and the torta to me tasted like a wet pizza. A bit disappointing. To me this was more of a Tex Mex meal than an authentic Mexican meal. Pricing for 4 people was good but I don't think it was as good as reviews say and I'm sure there's plenty more good stuff in the area. I personally wouldn't recommend being that there's plenty out here to try but I might consider trying something else here to try before I give up on them. read more
La Chata is a Guadalajara staple right in the old town district near city center. I came here a while back with my now wife, and we loved the authentic Mexican flavors in each dish. We had cafe de olla and some dishes that made for an amazing brunch. We ordered a plate of Arrachera with tortillas and Bistec Encebollado (steak with onions) with beans. On the same plate we had chicharrones en salsa, a breakfast staple in this city. To balance the heavier dishes we had a Jugo Verde drink made from fresh pineapple and parsley. The staff were so friendly, we felt at home with the kind approach and nice ambiance. The decor is traditional and tasteful, we had such a fun experience. We dream of this breakfast and want to return with our sons soon. Try some amazing food here next time you're in Guadalajara, Jalisico Mexico! read more

This came highly recommended by my fiancé's coworker who lives in Mexico and his parents vacation in Guadalajara every year. After looking at the popularity on Google Maps, I was sold! Started with the tortas ahogadas oh my God, it was so fabulous and so tasty. The sauce was fabulous so for nachos they have these full tortillas. They have three different sauces. This super spicy sauce which I love. The green sauce, which is the mild and then this fresh salsa of tomatoes and onions and chilies, which is fabulous. The service is amazing. Then we did the mixed tacos which might be the best tacos I've ever had , and then we had this drink called Casuela. Wow. I would come back to Guadalajara just to visit. La Chata. The best Mexican food I've ever had in my life and the prices are ridiculously reasonable. read more

Always a long line outside. So come early or prepare to wait. The restaurant is about midsized (they should think about expanding). Popular spot. Nice place for lunch. Restrooms are clean. The portions of food is large. So come hungry or share a plate. I had the beef skewers. Meat was cooked perfectly & veggies were tasty. Had the horchata and it was yummy Kitchen staff is fully covered & work in a sanitary manner. read more

Service : excellent. Recommend the orange juice (freshly made. Very good. Not extremely sweet) The Pozole Blanco amazing 10/10 recommend. I did not get the chicken version. I asked for a side order of avocado because it's amazing in pozole. Would recommend the torta ahogada over the regular torta. The restaurant is clean, we came around six pm on a Thursday and didn't have to wait to be seated. I am picky with my jericallas (a dessert; it's like a custard). Their version was not it. The cinnamon flavor was too strong for my liking (I would not order again). My boyfriend loved it and would order it again. Like with everything in life it just depends on your preferences. I did not take pictures before eating and felt weird posting food that was half way done. read more
A promise is a promise so I've returned to this spot to re-review after I couldn't get breakfast yesterday. The line was significantly shorter, thank you Monday, and the crowd was friendly. The same crew was working as the weekend, just not at such a feverish pace as the day prior. There wasn't a line but I still had to wait a few minutes before a table was available and I was able to be seated. I was promptly given a bread basket and some salsa options in the first picture I arrived around 9:50 and got seated 10:00 order at 10:01 and had my first bites by 10:07 not bad for being in a rush because I had to leave by 10:20 to be back at the hotel to leave by 10:30. Couldn't have asked for better service or breakfast product. read more
As soon as the plane searched the hungry neighborhood, it went there without enough money to give it a thick face. Ordered a barbecue kebabs-the huge side dishes recommended by the waiter were delicious, especially avocado onion puree barbecue itself. It was too hard to seasoning. The soup is super delicious.-very good for Asian stomach, chicken, carrot, cucumber, cantaloupe, avocado cheese and rice, very refreshing and comfortable Beverage Horchata- ground seeds or nuts, white rice soaked in water and / or milk, and then mixed with cinnamon, sugar and other ingredients to make a surprising refreshing drink Tequila la charta-even tequila mixed juice in a pot is pretty interesting read more
Ni se por donde empezar pero ay vamos. Cada ves que vamos a mi querido Guadalajara siempre paramos a comer aquí. El servicio de lo mejor los meseros siempre muy amables con nosotros y nos reímos todos juntos un rato. Siempre hay línea pero si se mueve rápido creo lo más que hemos esperado quizás una media hora. Puedes también ordenar para llevar pero tienes que ordenar en persona y no dejan por teléfono. Entiendo sus razones. La comida: es una ricura que ni sabes por donde empezar nos recomendó nuestro taxi del aeropuerto que fuéramos. El pozole delicioso y aún más con el chile que te traen. Puedes escoger de pollo, puerco o de los dos. Los chile rellenos para chuparte los dedos. Siempre me llevo uno para llevar. El guacamole mi mero mole y barato. La arrachera con papas tiene un sabor que ni quieres terminar de comer recomiendo el platillo que viene con solo arrachera con papas. Cómo que la combinación que tiene la carne asada con la flauta la carne no está tan tiernita. El mole ay no delicioso las combinaciones todas se antojan. Y para terminar la agua de arroz o horchata, servido en una taza grande de barro fría. Siempre pedimos dos. Les recomiendo que lleguen temprano. My goodness in all of my travels to Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico this restaurant has a piece of my heart. The best service the waiters are forever joking with us, very fast and clean. They're very friendly and will help if you have questions about the menu. The atmosphere is just a blast each time they usually have good music on in the evenings and if there's a soccer game count on it being on. The food I can't even begin to describe how perfect everything is. After a long flight our taxi driver recommended this spot and we've been happy customers ever since. Very well known for their good quality, clean, friendly and delicious food. Our group tried chicken pozole, quesadillas, Chile rellenos, mole, and carne asada. We were all pleased flavor is there. I always pay attn to the cooking area and after years of having meals here can vouch it's very clean. The cooks wear masks even post Covid and a white onesie to take even more precaution. The drinks are perfect we always order rice water also known as horchata they offer free refills. Also it does help to ask for more tortillas while you get refills as they do get busier at dinner time. The decore is beautiful. Just be careful of your surroundings if you're walking there at night. read more

Whata Vibe!!! A classic must if visiting Guadalajara! No line for us as we were very evening customers coming in around 10:30 for dinner. Open kitchen concept to the MAX! Appreciated the family style service where everyone seems to pay attention to you! Plates are completed with a lot of detail and no space was left uncovered. Just good food with great people! Was visiting in Guadalajara for a wedding went to La Chata for breakfast... They are open early so it's a good place to go kill some time before check in if you have an early flight... La Chata is located close to downtown Guadalajara.. When we got there the host greeted us and sat us right away.. The staff was very pleasant and all so friendly... It was our first time eating here so we wanted to know what recommendations our waiter had and which were the popular dishes... Everything we ordered was delicious... It taste like something my grandmother would make me for breakfast... The flavors and salsas were delicious... Next time we go to Guadalajara we will be going back to La Chata to try some other delicious items on their menu.. read more

When I started my research for Guadalajara, this restaurant always came up as a place to go eat. So, the first stop after dropping off my luggage was here. There was a line, but we only waited about 15 min. I wanted to order everything and I'm glad I didn't because their servings are huge. They start you off with salsa and tostadas/chalupa shells. Avoid filling up on these. I ordered the Queso fundido with mushrooms. It came with fresh corn tortillas. This gooey cheese was the perfect appetizer. I could have even made it my meal. My main dish were the Enchilada surtidas. Four enchiladas: one with cheese, one potato, one picadillo and one with beans. I'm used to enchiladas swimming in sauce. These were different. There was sauce on the tortilla, but otherwise dry. A little different, but still delicious. The plate came rice and potatoes. I washed everything down with sweet Horchata. The staff was friendly and efficient. They were super fast. They do take credit cards. No parking available on site read more

Food we ok not the best in my opinion as far as taste goes i was looking for an authentic taste, this was more of tourist taste. Its very popular so lines form all day. It is noisy but tolerable. Service was quick the wait staff was friendly and quick. We didn't have a bad experience here but its just not the flavor i was looking for in therms of authenticity. read more
