Café de olla is a classic Mexican coffee traditionally brewed in a clay pot (olla), infused with cinnamon and sweetened with piloncillo--a deep, rich unrefined cane sugar. The result is a warm, aromatic, slightly spiced cup that feels like a hug from Mexico itself. Their version was delicious. To complement it, they offered me conchas con nata, which was such a treat. Conchas are iconic Mexican sweet breads known for their soft, airy interior and crunchy shell-like topping. Nata is the thick, silky cream that forms when fresh milk is gently simmered--rich, smooth, and perfect for spreading. Together, it's a simple but heavenly pairing. Great spot for breakfast! Came on a tuesday morning and it was quite lively. I got their signature chilaquiles bandera with red sauce and two eggs. Portions were hefty, and food was delicious. I also got their agua de jamaica which had a good balance of sweetness and was very refreshing. Lastly, I tried their pan de muerto which had cream and jam inside. It was a delicious treat, again not too sweet which was nice. Staff was nice, they offer english menus too. Side note: Bathrooms are quite nice, colorful, and very clean! I had been here once before years ago. We had a free morning so I brought the family and they all enjoyed everything. First, we had to start with the "cafe de olla" but when we ordered it, our waiter suggested the "cafe estillo Veracruzana" which is a shot of espresso with steam milk. They actually call it "cafe lechero" and was very good. The food was very good, the arrachera was super tender and delicious. We were asked if we wanted avocado and it was an adder; typical. The family also loved the queso fundido with the added chorizo and mushrooms. The place looks great and the service was great. Not a fan of chilaquiles but I ordered their most popular dish, Chilaquiles Bandera, with melted cheese and it was delicious. This place has a great menu...whoever added all the comments deserves a raise...very entertaining but those comments helped me (and they have a menu in English) choose the right dishes....don't forget their fresh squeezed variety of juices and their horchata might be the best in all of Mexico. We made this restaurant our first stop when we landed in Guadalajara. Our taxi driver recommended this spot and everything was amazing. We over ordered simply because everything sounded delicious! They had tacos and tamales but my favorite thing was the chillaquiles! Order an extra egg on your food if you wish. The horchata is better ordered in a pitcher because you'll drink it fast. This place is a wonderful place to have breakfast at. They greeted us very nicely, and sat us right away. We then were offered drinks and appetizers. My kids got the champurrado which was delicious. Great Ambiance, they kept singing Las Mañanitas to 1/2 of the people there. I ordered their famous Bandera Chilaquiles, they were average not great. I went on a Monday afternoon, staff were overwhelmed affecting their customer service. Food came out right away so that made up for the delay. Walking in, we knew right off the bat we were going to love it here. The service is top knotch. We were seated immediately, given the choice between English and Spanish menus. The menu is extensive. They offered a wide range of drinks and meals. I was impressed by the sheer amount of variety here. When we were taken through to the restaurant we were blown away by the decor. It was colorful and beautiful. We we seated close to a chimney looking area. So picturesque! The chairs were each painted a vibrant different color: red, green, blue, and yellow. This is a great big open space. Air conditioned so it felt fresh even though the weather reaches almost 100 degrees. The menu was extensive. I came for the cafe de olla and chilaquiles, but the server offered us conchas de nata to pair with our drinks and we agreed. They were so cute. They were flipped upside down and looked like a take on cloud pancakes with the nata over the bottom. We got a strawberry and vanilla concha. Bomb. The sauces, guac, and cheese looked fresh. The busboy noticed we had used our silverware for the conchas and brought us a fresh pair without being asked. Our chilaquiles beans and avocado were perfect! Nice generous portions. The horchata was also amazing. Perfectly balanced. The cucumber water was refreshing. The restrooms were pretty and clean. They even had a cute little table outside the bathrooms with napkins and sanitizer and a little colorful basket to theiggg away trash after using a napkin to open and close the bathroom doors. And we didn't notice that they had cute little cookies in the waiting area for those waiting to be seated since we were seated immediately but we saw them on the way out. I can't say enough about our experience here. I feel like they thought of everything in terms of service and I couldn't even think of how to improve it! read more

Very popular place! At 10:00 am on a Tuesday we waited about 20 minutes for a table. The crowds never dissipated. The servers were rushed, but very effecient. We saw many people with luggage at different tables - perhaps it's on the way to the airport? We weren't sure, just a curious side note. The decor is colorful. The place is very clean. The food was good with some interesting combinations. We appeared to be the only non-native Spanish speakers, and non of the staff we interacted with spoke English.
