    Carne en su jugo

If you are looking for variety this isn't your spot but if you like carne en su jugo, go. Super quick service, it's indoor but feels like outdoor, and the meat if delicious. Their beans and corn was a taste of home for my group. Definitely worth a try.

Carne en su jugo, beans, guacamole chips, grilled onions

On our second day in Guadalajara, the governor decided to put the "red light" on, which meant that all restaurants were closed for dining in. Our hotel concierge recommended that we try carne en su jugo, so he ordered that for us and had it delivered to our room. We also ordered some guacamole and beans as well. The carne en su jugo smelled delicious, but unfortunately the container couldn't hold how hot the soup was and spilled all over the floor and table. It looked like someone threw up! The concierge had someone get it all cleaned up and ordered another bowl and complained to the company for us. This dish also came with salsa, grilled onions, and lime. I'm glad I got to try it because it was so flavorful! The guacamole was alright and I didn't try the beans. Too bad we couldn't eat at the restaurant though- next time!

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!!! Apparently in Guadalajara, MX, one of the dishes that is a MUST TRY is "Karne en su Jugo"; so a friend of a friend brought us to this place to eat! I ordered the "GRANDE" size. For drink, I ordered Horchata. Service is super fast! I literally went to wash my hands, and the food was already served when I came back out. Like WOAH! Cost is less than $10 USD with tip included. Definitely worth the trip! ENJOY!!!!!

This is the place to eat when visiting Guadalajara and your near plaza del Sol or the Expo. They use to have the Guinness world record for fastest service. They are a very functional and organized restaurant that has excellent service. They work as a fast efficient team. Parking is valet and worth it as the area is very busy. Next the hostess seats you quickly. Once seated they take your order and right off the bat they offer drink suggestions and guacamole with chips, refried beans with corn (this is their signature bean dish) and quesadillas. Here all the sell is carne en su jugo or "meat in its own juices" . A small is for kids and median maybe for me and a large for guys or big eaters. You prepare with chopped onion, cilantro, lemon and salsa and dip your tortillas in it. They also bring lots of grilled onions that are amazing. They now have sangria, margaritas (were great), beers, and agua fresca. You will literally be eating in less than 5 minutes!!! No joke!! They also have now since December 2016 "cecina" or dried meat with chile and lime juice as an appetizer. They have a play area for kids and a mechanical ride. There are also desserts you can try. Great prices even better service and flavor. Come and enjoy a great lunch or dinner. :)

This was so trash never again I ordered quesadilla and they gave me cheese and meat and water, meat super dry worst Mexican food in the country

Two grande orders of carne en su jugo.

This place is kind of ridiculous, with service streamlined for rapid order fulfillment. They hold the Guinness world record for fastest service (13.5 seconds for a table of six). Although they have expanded their menu, you really are just here for the carne en su jugo, which comes in a variety of sizes. (Just order the grande. Trust me, you'll eat all of it, or near enough.) As I was getting oriented with the menu, the waiter was obviously itching to take my order. True to the legend, our two orders of carne en su jugo came out almost immediately. It is accompanied by ludicrously good beans, made with kernels of corn and shameful amounts of manteca (lard). Also on the table are charred onions. Despite the distractingly awesome beans, the carne en su jugo is still the star. The lime forward broth is addicting, and I ate far more than I should have. It took a long while before I was hungry again.

Food Review: Los Chilaquiles - Guadalajara, Jalisco…read more On my recent visit to Los Chilaquiles, located right in the heart of Guadalajara, I arrived a bit past the traditional breakfast hour, but I was seriously craving some good huevos rancheros and a comforting café de olla. Thankfully, both absolutely hit the spot. Café de olla is a classic Mexican coffee traditionally brewed in a clay pot (olla), infused with cinnamon and sweetened with piloncillo--a deep, rich unrefined cane sugar. The result is a warm, aromatic, slightly spiced cup that feels like a hug from Mexico itself. Their version was delicious. To complement it, they offered me conchas con nata, which was such a treat. Conchas are iconic Mexican sweet breads known for their soft, airy interior and crunchy shell-like topping. Nata is the thick, silky cream that forms when fresh milk is gently simmered--rich, smooth, and perfect for spreading. Together, it's a simple but heavenly pairing. Right away, I noticed that the atmosphere of the place feels warm and inviting--relaxed, friendly, and full of that authentic Guadalajara charm that makes you want to stay a little longer. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly: attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. They started me off with a trio of homemade salsas, along with Mexican crema, queso cotija, and a crunchy homemade tostadita. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtful. As I looked around, I even noticed photos of well-known personalities who have visited, which makes sense--the food and experience truly stand out. Overall, Los Chilaquiles delivered amazing flavors, excellent service, a great atmosphere, and that authentic touch that makes breakfast in Guadalajara unforgettable. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

A Stage Set for Fire and Flavor…read more La Casa de los Platos, a massive restaurant set along a boulevard of equally grand dining halls in Guadalajara's upscale district, thrives on spectacle. Its open-air courtyard, framed by stone and saturated with color, hums with loud music and theatrical flair. The guacamole, made by hand at the table, embodies that performance. Avocados are crushed in a stone molcajete, and the spread arrives bright and tangy. Yet, it's complicated by unnecessary additions--cheese chunks and chicharrón--that crowd out the fruit's natural elegance. A mere five totopos felt stingy, though a sack of piping hot corn tortillas--generous, soft, and fragrant--rescued the moment. At a requested "level 3 of 10," the spice soared higher than expected, a jolt that overwhelmed rather than accented. The rib eye tacos with shrimp and bone marrow extended the show, grilled before us over roaring flames. They were hearty, flavorful, and undeniably filling, but also excessively oily. The flavors--shrimp's brine, marrow's depth, beef's richness--blurred into a dish trying to impress on too many fronts. It was delicious, yes, but a reminder that tacos often shine brightest in their simplicity. Later, a live mariachi band replaced the nightclub thrum, a refreshing turn toward tradition and warmth. Service was fine but forgettable, efficient enough without leaving an impression. In the end, La Casa de los Platos is a spectacle tailored for a high-heeled crowd seeking grandeur. The flavors are bold, the showmanship bigger still--but subtlety rarely takes the stage. #GuadalajaraEats #FoodCritique #LaCasaDeLosPlatos
