A small but clean tea shop Former coffee shop and specialty tea shop barista here! I stopped by Y Bubble later in the evening about an hour before close for a pick me up and the place was pretty quiet. A few customers came to pick up orders, but otherwise it was just me in store. The place was extra clean with board games in one corner for customers to play, and the barista was pretty quick with my order. My original order was a Matcha Jasmine Milk Tea with Tapioca Boba and Almond Milk, but after I was rung up and the barista went back to make the drink itself, she informed me that they were out of Almond Milk but could do Coconut instead. Since I'd paid the extra amount for a dairy replacement, I agreed. The resulting drink was interesting to say the least. Had the drink been a plain matcha milk tea with coconut milk or a matcha jasmine with a milk substitute that didn't have such a strong flavor of its own it would have been fine, but the three bold flavors together in one drink were super confusing. It was tropical with floral notes that didn't pair well with coconut, and the matcha just didn't have a chance to shine between the two. Not to mention that the mixed flavor profile was so muddled I could not discern if the boba was made in a brown sugar or honey syrup; the taste was just completely lost. The drink altogether was fine, but this is a combination I can't say I'd order again. Given the hiccup in the visit, I know need to give this location another try. A place being out of a certain ingredient for the day isn't a bad thing, but in this particular instance it made a weird enough drink that lessened the overall experience. read more

She spoke in a whisper and the gentleman that ordered before us couldn't hear her when she finished making his drink. Very odd how soft she was speaking. I asked for boba and she said they were out. She asked what topping would I like, and I asked what did they have, she told me the toppings were in front of me and turned out they did have boba (I got the brown sugar flavor). I have long struggled to find a favorite new boba place close to home, so this gem was a blessing to come across. It's tucked away in a small shopping center right around Bulverde/1604 and I really only knew about it because we pulled into the parking lot of Zero Degrees only to find it was no longer open, so we Googled other boba options nearby. The interior is bright, I love that it has a photo menu, and they are super quick. They have a fun shaker machine for preparing the drinks in the back that is amusing to watch - we really got a kick out of it. Operationally this place seems like a well oiled machine. We ended up getting five drinks and none of them disappointed - I personally got the Mango dirty milk tea, and other flavors we got included coffee, taro, and red bean. Everything tastes great and their boba was well prepared - soft, great texture without the icky over cooked taste you always risk when getting boba. Great boba spot. I am a fan of any place that doesn't add crazy up charges for everything, and this place has a large menu with straight forward pricing. I would recommend getting your drinks 50% sweet though because even at that level, it is pretty sweet. There's plenty of space inside if you want to sit in and chilled with a group. Get the Dirty Brown Sugar Milk, it's my favorite! I love Y Bubble because they have so many different drink options! It's the perfect place to get a refresher on a hot day. The Dirty Brown Sugar Milk is basically cold, sweet milk with brown sugar and boba at the bottom, the inside of the cup is coated with caramel sauce. In my opinion, it tastes best shaken up. So ask them to shake it. Once you try it, you may not try anything else. I like that the restaurant is light, and airy and clean. There's quite a few tables in there, if you want to invite friends there to hangout or study. This place is perfect for that. I really like that the kitchen is open to the customer. I always like when restaurants have that sort of transparency. For some reason, I have more trust and confidence that my drink is being made under clean circumstances if I can see it be made. My daughter and I were in the mood for bubble tea, so I looked it up on Yelp as that is my go to source for places to try. This happened to be the closest to where we were, but there is another location in Stone Oak. It's small but a nice place, sort of set up like an ice cream shop. We both have enjoyed honeydew boba teas in the past, so we decided to go with the usual since it was a new place for us. We weren't sure what each of the different things were. There are so many choices. My daughter tried the fruit tea, and I tried the milk tea. I had heard some good things about the milk teas, so I thought why not. Hers was a little disappointing because she was expecting a frozen type drink. Now, we know that it was the smoothie she wanted. However, the milk tea was AWESOME!!! The reviews were not mistaken. I truly loved everything about it. I can't really describe it. You just have to try it for yourself. I picked up a menu because I want to try everything. We have already ordered delivery which they do thru Door Dash. I am wanting to try as many different recommended drinks as possible. I have already gotten the Strawberry Dirty Milk Tea which was also very good. I'm guessing the "dirty" part is added coffee as they have other coffees and teas as well. My daughter finally got what she wanted which was the honeydew smoothie. This last time when we had it delivered though, she tried the Mango smoothie with the mango popping boba. I didn't really like it, but she enjoyed it. I do have to try the different added bobas, but I'm a little nervous about it since I didn't enjoy the popping boba. We stumble upon this nice looking facade of a bubble tea place after a humid day at Milberger's across the street. We were thirsty and needed something more than just a cold glass of water. We ordered our individual drinks based on the promising menu board and their "top ten" drinks. Oh well it was totally disappointing. Not sure we're just used to the customer service and quality of drinks from Tealicious and Artea but this place needs to learn from these two amazing tea places. I ordered peach tea drink from their top 10 list, it was just blah, nothing to be excited about, good thing it's not extremely sweet plus there are thin slices of peaches inside too. My cousin's matcha tea with Crystal bobba was a total disappointment. It tasted like watered-down matcha tea and almost tasted like just flavored water. When my cousins went to the counter to tell them it's watered-down, it was also disappointing. Customer service sucks here. The first thing they could have asked was either "do you want us to replace it with a fresh one?" or "do you want a refund?" Instead the young gentleman just topped tummy cousins cup with extra matcha tea, which did not do anything at all to the actual taste nor added any matcha flavor at all. My other cousin also did not enjoy her tea, I actually forgot what kind of tea it was, that's how unremarkable out tea drink experience here was. The only person who didn't complained was my niece, she enjoyed the dirty strawberry something drink she ordered, but of course she didn't know a lot, she's just a kid. We're definitely not visiting this place again, after Milberger's we'll make sure to remind ourselves of our forgettable experience here. Two stars goes to the inviting facade and promising menu board and clean interiors, but nothing for the drinks nor the customer service.
