COVID-19 / Quarantine Review: Came with my friend and his girlfriend (hi Shirly, if you're reading this)! We each got our own different coffee drinks! I got the Cafe de Olla with light sugar and creamer (did you know most creamers are actually non-dairy / lactose free) and it was super good! I'm not sure what exactly is in it, but some online reviews suggested it. The other drinks that were tried were the Cafe Mocha and the Cafe Horchata! We also split a churro sundae and the churro pieces came out piping hot and delicious. You can get chocolate, strawberry, or caramel as the topping and also whipped cream! They call out your number when your order is ready and they're currently cash-less. They also have online ordering with 10% off (see photos) but I think this location is still working through their online ordering system. Overall, would stop by for their churros / coffee again if I was around. You can also get bulk churros (e.g., 80 for $100) which I'll definitely consider doing for a pot luck party one day when COVID is over. read more

I've had churros from their truck a few times. I usually get it with chocolate filling. The chocolate filling is not a real chocolate sauce. It has a thin, plastic-y consistency.. if that makes any sense. We recently stopped by their permanent location for dessert one evening. We got a churro with chocolate filling and the churro fiesta. The churros we received were stale and hard. And I really don't like the chocolate substance they use. I usually love churros, but not these ones, unfortunately. read more

The classic churros with strawberry and vanilla were perfectly made, crunchy and sweet on the outside, soft and moist dough and filling on the inside. The absolute best and unique item was the s'mores churro sandwich though. Other than the regular flavors (chocolate, vanilla, cream cheese, strawberry, and plain), there is a daily flavor depending on which day of the week. The special flavor of the day is listed on the wall, not on the menu. Hint, hint: peanut butter flavor is available on Wednesdays. Street parking isn't difficult in this part of Pilsen. Some patrons parked their vehicles on Wolcott, headed in, and ordered to-go. The forgetful Rosa J. almost failed to mention the funnel cakes. Funnel cakes for many of us mean "happiness," and "commencement of diets for the next three weeks." With that being said, I will probably get a funnel cake here next time and walk 11 miles to burn the calories off like I always do (remember she's the foodie on foot gal)! Luckily, this was only a mile away from our part of town, so we came... and it was fantastic. The churros are a home run here! Each is only a little over $1, and you get your choice of fillings. By far, the best one here was the Cream Cheese!! It blew us away. The churro itself was golden, crunchy, and sweet (but not too sweet). The cream cheese filling gave it a kick that sent my senses flying. YUM! Service here was friendly and quick. Plus, they accept card, even if you only order one churro! They've definitely received a facelift over the past few months. It's side now reads "xurro" but is still affectionately known as the Churro Factory. But I stopped in after work yesterday for some dessert and it was honestly the best churro I've EVER had. I'm still craving more. The churros are reasonably priced at $1.50 each or $12 for a dozen. They're filled with your choice of chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and cream cheese - there's also sometimes a rotating flavor of the day. You're able to mix and match the flavors too - no limits or multiples of any! I got a mix of them and they were all delicious, but my favorites were the vanilla and the cream cheese. One really nice factor is they make the churros throughout the day so they are always fresh and warm. As mentioned, coworkers bring them in a lot and they're always great but a warm, crispy churro is next level - seriously, indescribable. Also got a glass of horchata for $3 which was pretty sweet but honestly had a perfect balance of creamy and sweet! The staff was also super friendly and courteous. This was my first visit to any of the local four Churro Factories. Even though I live a bit closer to the Oak Lawn location I figured I'd try the Pilsen location just off 22nd street as my first exposure. The stairs up to the door are high and narrow. Someone with a cane or wheelchair would likely not be able to get inside. The inside is fairly clean but the tables and chairs were a bit messy and in disarray. The flavor pumps and counter were spotless. Service was friendly. I ordered chocolate, strawberry, and plain churros. When I arrived home I discovered that the plain churro I ordered was actually filled with peanut butter. Not what I ordered and it didn't taste good. The chocolate and strawberry churros were good and fresh. I did sample one of my chocolate churros on the way home and they tasted better while fresh out of the fryer. They were still quite tasty hours later. I do wish there was somewhere in the area where I could get Churros y Chocolate like I had in Madrid, Spain.
