I wouldn't really say this is a good matcha spot since it doesn't seem to have any matcha flavor. I had a suspicion from the menu options that they used to be Kyomatcha (a popular matcha dessert chain) but now called Matcha En. The good reviews are probably from the days it was Kyomatcha and not the current quality.

The mango pancakes contained a huge piece of real, smooth and sweet melt-in-your-mouth mango on top of light cream, all wrapped up in a soft crepe skin. It was remarkable how both of these desserts maintained a delicate and natural mango flavor with the perfect level of sweetness. The drawback was that there were SO many people at 4:30pm on Memorial Day. Every table was taken and the line went from the counter to the door. There were so many people in that small space that it was hard to navigate without bumping into someone, and it was very loud. Unfortunately, the crowds detracted from the whole experience. The place has a simple, minimalistic and colorful look, but there are some really fun details, like the craft tables and the whole wall of colorful beads where someone can make their own Perler crafts. It gives the place a playful little personality. The staff were super nice and gave me some really good recommendations since it was my first time there. I decided to start with the traditional Japanese cheesecake, and wow... the texture was the first thing that got me. It was incredibly soft and fluffy, almost like biting into a little cloud, but it still had enough body to feel like cheesecake. The cheese flavor was gentle and creamy instead of being super heavy or overly sweet. There was a slight tanginess that balanced everything out, and it had this light, almost airy finish that just disappeared in my mouth. But then I tried it with the ice cream together... 100% better. The cold, creamy ice cream with the warm, soft cheesecake created this really good contrast. The extra sweetness from the ice cream brought out more of the cheesecake's subtle cheese flavor without covering it up. Definitely a different kind of cheesecake, and I'm glad I tried it.

I wish I was able to travel with one of their cheesecakes but they require refrigeration. Anyhow the cheesecake itself was delicious super light, fluffy, and honestly felt like biting into a cloud. I had the salted egg but they had several flavor options that I would've loved to try if slices were available. The texture is what really stands out, and the flavor was unique and interesting in a good way. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it taste like, but it was sweet, but not too sweet They only sale but I consider a personal size but it's definitely enough to share with two people, maybe even three depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have. My only downside like others is the price. Paying around $19-$20 for a small cheesecake felt a bit steep, especially since they don't offer slices. I really wish they had smaller portions available so you could try different flavors without committing to a full cake prize. They package it very well and they also serve you a cute little fork set and a knife for cutting which I think is contributes to the price. The shop itself is very cute with chic décor and a lot of Asian-inspired artwork, which adds to the overall vibe. Customer service was friendly. When I visit Chicago again I'd definitely go back the texture and taste alone make it worth it but I do hope they consider offering smaller portions in the future.

A Churro Sundae Perfection! I recently had the pleasure of indulging in the most delightful churro experience at Xurro in Pilsen and let me tell you, it was pure bliss! From the moment I walked into the charming establishment, I knew I was in for a treat. The highlight of my visit was to get a churro but here it is really tough when you have so many good options to choose from but in the end I got the Churro Sundae, an absolute masterpiece that satisfied my sweet tooth and left me craving more. This heavenly creation consisted of two crispy churros, a scoop of velvety vanilla ice cream, and a generous drizzle of luscious chocolate syrup. The churros were perfection personified. Crispy on the outside, yet light and fluffy on the inside, they were everything a churro should be. Each bite delivered a satisfying crunch followed by a burst of cinnamon-infused goodness. The churros were freshly made, evident in their impeccable texture and fragrant aroma. Paired with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream, the Churro Sundae reached new heights of decadence. The smoothness of the ice cream provided a delightful contrast to the crispy churros, and its coolness perfectly complemented the warmth of the freshly fried dough. It was a match made in dessert heaven! To complete this tantalizing treat, a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup cascaded over the churros and ice cream. The rich, velvety chocolate added a touch of indulgence, creating a symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds. The combination of warm churros, cold ice cream, and heavenly chocolate was a sensory delight I won't soon forget. If you find yourself in Pilsen and have a craving for something sweet, Xurro is an absolute must-visit. Indulge in the Churro and prepare to be transported to a world of sweet delight. You won't be disappointed! read more

I always hated churros, and then I found a blue van parked on Roosevelt St. at one end of the Maxwell Street Market (Every Sunday in Chicago...runs til about 3 or 4pm). I figured, what the heck..why not. Who *wouldn't* want a churro from a mysterious blue van they happen upon in the street? That day changed my life. Only a little, but still. It was delicious!
