I came to United States from Korea in 1990 and I used to live in 149Pl for about 10 years before moving further south of Flushing then to Fresh Meadows, but still this is my favorite pizza store, still go there at least once a month. You must try their Xtra Cheese House Special (large pie with everything on it! no anchovies though, not that they carry it, but they had it on their menu). I'm not picky with toppings and neither is my family so the first time we tried their special, we immediately fell in love with it. I'm guessing not a lot of people order their house special because sometimes when I call beforehand to pick it up, they sound surprised. I introduced this place to my church members and told them about the special and they went bonkers. Even to this day, my fiancé who I dated for 8 years still tells me, "I can't believe you didn't tell me about this place earlier." From the outside, this place just might seem like another local pizzeria, but it's not. The lengthy tall dude and the stockier dude that makes these pizzas have been making pizzas here even before I came to the U.S! My favorite are their (of course) Xtra Cheese House Special Large Pie with Everything on it and Meatball Parm on a hero. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Simply the best pizza ever! read more

This is really the only option for pizza delivery in the area besides dominoes or pizza hut but the good news is that it's pretty good. I grew up eating pizza from here since the 70's. They survived all from all the chain pizza stores because their pizza is simply the best. You cannot get this taste from chain pizza places. I usually go to Gino's and amores but I decided to try something new because the customer service at amores isn't great and the quantity at Gino's is pretty spare, I am very satisfied with you guys because usually 2 slices will leave me satisfied but I was only able to eat a slice and a half cause the pieces are huge, the ingredients are fresh and pizza was yummy. Visited again and tried the pizza again, I think my first review was a bit harsh, the pizza here is premium quality, its lighter on oregano than lets say Brothers Pizza in Fresh Meadows, but its definitely there, the pizza has good flavor and for $4.95 for two slices and a large drink the best value in Queens and much of NYC. I used to live right across the street from Xtra Cheese for literally almost ever, but I now live about 5 blocks the opposite direction. With that said I've been going to them since I was kid. If you order 10 large pies, and save the little cutouts from the boxes, then u get a free large pie! Actually used to have a friend who worked there as well with his brothers :) Baked ziti, Sicilian slice, & regular slice: bomb! Unhygienic. My criteria for a good pie are simple, the cheese has to be thick and melty and the crust has to be crispy. The guy behind the counter definitely knows what he's doing and the pie came out just the way i like it. A large pie is $15 and if you're a glutton like me and my bf u can probably polish it off before it gets cold. Drinks are cheap and a large fountain soda will only run u $1.25. This place is EVERYTHING!!!!! Used to live close to here and you cant find a more NY Italian spot like here. There food is always amazing, the guys there are always ready to crack jokes and say hi to your kids. And during baseball season you can always rely on them to have the Met game on. Pizza is probably my favorite food in the world so I need to eat a good REGULAR slice (the only true NY pizza slice) every now and then to feed the beast. Xtra Cheese's regular slice has a nice thin crust with just the right amount of chew, tomato sauce and stringy cheese to make a very satisfying NY slice. Sometimes the pizza is not too good depending on how long it's been out, but if you order a fresh pie, you are almost guaranteed a great pizza. Whenever I want a good NY slice, this is always the first pizzeria to come to mind. Eating a slice from Xtra Cheese feels like going back home for me. I try to make it here at least once a month and sometimes I'll make the trip there several times in a week! I'm a pizza snob: I lived in Italy for a time and ate my way through the best of a best. So I wouldn't give 5 stars willy nilly. But this place deserves all that and more. I used to get my pizza from Lucia since it's a little bit closer but they definitely add sugar to their tomato sauce and lately I've been noticing their cheese has an artificial taste to it. I ordered a pie from this place for a change- I've gotten slices a few times in the past- and now I regretting ever getting my pizza from elsewhere. The way their pies come out- slightly well done cheese, piles of toppings (they never skimp on the toppings), crispy crust, is old school New York at its finest. The mini pie at $7 is perfect for 1-2 people, especially if you're like me and prefer freshly made pizza to slices. And just as important, Phil is such a sweetheart, always so nice and chatty, and I love that it's a true family run Italian- American business. This stretch of Flushing has been taken over by Asian immigrant run restaurants over the years and I'm Asian myself but as I always mourn the end of old school Flushing business where you can go in and chat with the owners in English. Living in Flushing all my life, I've tried pizza from all over Queens and Manhattan. This place is by far the best pizza I've tried in these two boroughs. Although amores and Lucia's is great, I'm not so into pizza tasting too sweet. I'm more of a cheesier, full flavor of the tomato sauce with the crust being crispy on the outside yet a bit soft on the inside.
