In an odd sort of way, it turned out my first choice wasn't my best choice!…read more I came across the listing and thought "OK - it's a little corny name, 'Those Tech Guys'" but honestly, if you hang around tech guys at all, you get it. I am far from a professional when it comes to IT installations, but I know enough to be dangerous. And after getting quotes to install ethernet in my 1980s circa home, one never wired for ethernet, one that just went through a significant renovation where I, in my supreme wisdom said "WiFi is great, now! Who need hardwires anymore?" was now faced with retrofitting several rooms and office with ethernet and said, this guy over here, the independent with a normal sounding company name, yeah - lets go with him! Mistake!! After schedule, and reschedule, and delays, and reschedule, we got nowhere with contractor number one. Meanwhile, Roberto and Peter at Those Tech Guys had patiently followed up several times, continued to be pleasant and professional, and AFTER I said no thank you I am going to go with someone else! So I made the dreaded call back - "So remember when I said if things change . . . " Peter was quick to jump on the phone, and walk me through things at every step. Gave me a highly competitive bid, and an install time of only a few days from when I called. They cam onsite, were clean courteous, and efficient. They played with my dog (I mean who doesn't love a bowling ball Staffy Bull Terrier mix?) and made light work of the install, and the final cost (with tip!) was even below the initial quote. This was made possible as Peter walked my home and together we found opportunities to do things more quickly, and save a few dollars along the way. In the end, I didn't choose Those Tech Guys first, but you should. No regrets here, other than I should have picked them first!

When I connected to their Wi-Fi, I discovered a CenturyLink splash page bluntly informing them their service was being discontinued, and they'd need to switch to Quantum Fiber, CenturyLink's supposed "sister company." Without warning, CenturyLink had already cut their service. After examining their modem's setup page and confirming the service was dead, I called Quantum Fiber on their behalf and scheduled an appointment to install fiber at their house. The earliest available appointment was December 18th. When the Quantum technician finally arrived, they took one look and declared, "Oh, we're going to need to dig a cable to the house. We'll do it after the holidays." No firm date, no follow-up plan--just a vague "after the holidays." The holidays came and went. Still nothing. In the meantime, I reached out to CenturyLink to at least reconnect their phone service, as my in-laws--both elderly and not comfortable using cell phones--had no way to make calls. CenturyLink flatly refused, despite their old modem showing the DSL status as "connected." A manager dismissed me with a hollow apology: "As much as we'd love to help, we just can't reconnect the phone now that it's swapped over to Quantum." Weeks later, my mother-in-law called CenturyLink directly and was told, "Oh, this isn't right. We can reconnect your phone until Quantum finishes the install." That was two weeks ago. Despite repeated assurances that it would take no more than three business days, nothing has been resolved. To add insult to injury, Quantum already has their payment information on file from the initial setup process, yet they've done absolutely nothing to deliver service. This entire experience has been a masterclass in incompetence, finger-pointing, and customer neglect. CenturyLink and Quantum Fiber are two sides of the same broken coin, and neither company seems capable of basic communication, let alone providing reliable service. I wouldn't touch either of these companies with a 10-foot Ethernet cable. If you value your time, money, or sanity, stay far, far away. I'm also now exploring potential legal options, because leaving elderly customers without phone or internet for over a month is not just negligent--it's disgraceful.

In particular, Dan, 'Tech Guru,' just finished looking over what is needed to get the best internet connectivity and service. He was simply outstanding. Additionally the two customer service professionals I've been working with, Hillary and Sarah, both delivered epic customer service. Having been a long term customer of Comcast and Century Link, I've never felt as listened to and actually helped me. Keep up the great work HCC - I'm a raving fan!

Our neighbors literally received the upgrade over 3 years ago. HCC dug up 25 feet of our driveway, left it looking like garbage, literally there are shards of metal and glass where they dug it up... I've called every month, but for 6+ months I've been told by customer service that they 'have a part on order' and that the construction supervisor will call me back to discuss moving forward... to date, that construction supervisor has never called me. I am disabled and on a fixed income and my bill could've been reduced years ago!!!??? I feel totally taken advantage of and discriminated against, which is so sad because when I moved her I had such high hopes that service through a local company was going to be a great experience, but instead, I've been totally ignored.
