    Baklava to go!

The food here is fresh a delicious. Like any good Mediterranean restaurant, the stuff just taste healthy and is therefore all the more satisfying.

    Mikey H.

I had an hour for lunch and didn't know where to go, so I started driving, and then I remembered that Xerxes was nearby. My phone wasn't working with the map so I just drove and luckily not a lot of traffic so I drove slowly down Siskiyou...and then I saw it! There is street parking and a few spaces in the back. Not only is Xerxes a grill but a small market for Greek products too. At first I was going to order the wrap, but I asked about the plate and I think the owner told me it came with rice, salad, naan bread, and more meat...SOLD! I didn't have to wait long which was good since I only had an hour. Very generous portion of the gyros meat. The rice was really flavorful! Some places, it's just basmati rice with little flavor, There was also some sauteed onions which were good! There wasn't any dressing on the salad, but I think the idea was to but the vegetables in the naan along with the gyros. What I really liked was the generous portion of tzatziki sauce! Most places give you a dinky cup and charge extra for more but this was a really nice surprise because I love tzatziki, and there's never enough! I also loved the grilled tomato and chili pepper. I ate the whole thing cause I'm a fatty! Can't wait to come back next year when I'm in school again, so I can try some of the other items.

    My plate. I finished everything.

The food was amazing. It was the best falafel. They have a special elevator for disabled people. Great service, and the best food.

Pretty much the only Greek spot in town - Nice little eatery tucked away in the South. Nice owner too.

Gyros was generous and tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Some table seating available, however this is basically a "to-go" place.

No more kale chips (the best ever btw!), way less sauces to choose from, the fridges are all empty, the sautéed cabbage sucks when it used to have flavor and was cooked well and now is basically raw, I could go on. Btw you're supposed to remove the stems on kale, not serve it to customers w stems! They removed all the lamps and fun wall paint in the bathrooms and looks like a generic boring cold bright light white walls bathroom. ***The chicken is much, much better tho so I'll give them that. I wont be surprised if soon they repaint the walls white too and take down all the wood. It has a very medford conservative energy now with people pretending to be hippies wearing ponchos they just bought etc. So that's awkward. Definitely waaaay different energy.. not inna good way. I appreciate what they offer food wise though with veggies and dairy free desserts so I will definitely return. The music SUCKS now. Sauce used to be such a cool vibe with indie music and even classical and jazz etc. Now it is top 40's pop and country-pop. Just god awful. The drama that came from this revision is very interesting also... something like the owners husband and wife, husband cheated on wife with the now new co-owner who is supposedly also married and the ex-wife has chronic illness and was basically blindsided and then bought out. It's all really messy and gives a bad energy. Probably why it is empty every time we've been since the change... Sauce used to always be packed.. we also would always buy the frozen soups and salads etc in addition to our meals ordered but now spend less bc nothing in fridges to buy! Anyway, I hope they stay open for the food bc not much else like it in the valley but hOm, please don't forget the loyal following of Sauce and completely obliterate its energy. Please dont paint everything white and black. We need color and creativity and community. Not cold pretend hippie energy. Sauce was packed constantly for a reason... don't lose sight of why and why you're always empty now facing closure...

One employee was the only one apparently working but she kept disappearing through the swing door while my 'food' cooked - if that's what you call being cooked. She had, like, 2" long fake black eyelashes on gooped with so much black crap that I was surprised they stayed on her eyelids - and she was wearing the most inappropriately tight yoga. pants that were past the point of crack invasive! They left nothing to the imagination and were gross beyond the definition of embarrassing. On to the $8.50 garbage she prepared - basically and ounce of chicken, a piece of McDonalds-thin bacon, a tiny bit of mozarella cheese, a flour tortilla (apparently a 'pita'), and a squirt of ranch dressing. I took two bites to get the ounce and a quarter of chicken and bacon and threw what little was left away. $8.50 for what??? Never again, not at any Pita Pit in and location forever. And this was my very first and only visit. This chain is the next one to fail and this location would be better torn down. Disgusting, dirty, overpriced and hopefully a forgettable experience!

I had an order of falafel with tahini sauce and a small sampling of the humus. The falafel was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. It was crispy on the outside and soft inside. Tahini isn't my favorite sauce but this one was very pleasant and not overpowering. The humus was excellent. Nice texture and a very pleasant flavor. The star of the meal was the gyro wrap. Everything seems to be cooked to order and very fresh. It had all the usual flavors and seasoning you're expecting, but instead of shaved off a vertical spit, it very tender pieces of meat cooked and put inside with feta, tomatoes, grilled onions, pepperoncinis and tzatziki sauce. It's wrapped with a style of flat bread I've never had before that so soft and flavorful on it's on. It wasn't the pita I was expecting, but it was so good.
