For 4 years I have been rebuilding my 99 E430. The rumors are true, once you drive an E430, you don't want to drive anything else. So I invested in rebuilding this car, it is a wonderful luxury. A few months ago there was a problem, it was either the engine or the transmission. My regular mechanic was too far away for me to get my car to him. I had heard the rumors about Hans at Xavers from other Mercedes owners, I had no choice. I barely made it to his shop. I was so upset with my car, that I threw the keys to Hans and basically said I think it is going to be cheaper to buy a new car. Being a girl and walking into an auto repair shop is like laying your head on the butcher block and waiting for the meat cleaver to finish the job. An hour later Hans made the diagnosis on my car, it was not the engine or the transmission, it was little fixable things and some updates to improve the performance of the car.This is when you learn the difference between mechanics and The Mechanic. The original owner of this shop was outstanding & honest, you had to wait 2 months for an appointment. After he retired around 2008 it went down hill; by 2009 no wait for an appointment. I prefer to watch when my E300D was being serviced & they always used the front bays to service it. This last time they used a side bay & I couldn't watch. As soon as I got the car out of the shop I noticed I had little power on acceleration. By the time I had driven 10 miles the car was backfiring badly with smoke coming out of the exhaust. I called & and asked Hans if they had noticed this "problem". He said it's "bad gas" didn't seem surprised or suggest a remedy. I'd never this problem before in 20 years driving diesels also si I fueled up at the same diesel stations every time. Took it to another shop they had to rinse the tank 10-12 times with gasoline to get it clean. read more

Here is a pic of my car and the spacers that "didn't fit." These spacers were new and are now chipped and not useable any more. They were returned in the box so I did not know they were damaged on the " attempted" install. I know because I installed a replacement and they fit. Going to Keeler Mercedes from now on. read more

Was a 2 month wait for an appointment when the original owner ran it up to about 2006. After that business dwindle by the time they started doing the fix one break on shuffle to me next day appointments were normal. When started getting I decide to watch them but when they put the car in the side stall I couldn't watch as soon as I got the car back I realized I had no acceleration a few mile down the road my e300 started back firing with increasing frequency. I called & spoke to Hans he said it's "bad gas". Took 6 or flushes at another shop to clean it out. I always buy my fuel for my e 300 at the station unless I'm on vacation never a problem before or since. read more

If you live in the area and you own a Benz you must know about Xavier's! The closest Mercedes dealer is about an hour away and I've tried them and their service departments are incompetent to say the least! Xavier's is friendly, much cheaper than dealer repair prices, and will honestly evaluate your vehicle. They are always busy but somehow find time to help you out when you need it! I prefer to give my business to a small family owed business rather than a corp mess. As long as I own a Benz in this area I will be a customer. read more
