We ate good! Fish is high quality and service was fast. The wait time was like 25 mins on a Saturday night. There was also nice lighting so the vibes were good. Overall a great night with good eats!
This place is the place to go for quick and friendly service. Food is delicious and fresh. Good for large group because the atmosphere is loud.
I've heard many good things about this place and I understand why! We were luckily enough to come on a day that wasn't too crowded and got seared immediately. The chairs imo, were too high for the table, I felt like I was hovering over the food, idk if that makes sense but something I noticed immediately after sitting. The menu system is a bit confusing. There's a paper menu and one you place online via QR code. For the paper menu, we were limited to 20 pieces of nigiri at a time. This wasn't a huge deal since it was only 2 of us, but I can see how that can become frustrating with larger groups especially since there's only 3 rounds, unless the limit increases with group size. The online ordering system only allowed you to order 2 appetizers at a time. I love me some baked mussels and unfortunately 1 order = 1 baked mussels which means we were only able to order 2 mussels at a time and then have to wait until our 5 minute wait period is over before placing another order. This is the first sushi restaurant that I been to that had this small of a limit... They also limited you on the carpaccio order but that was expected. Aside from the menu and ordering frustration, I think their food and service is great. Their fish tasted very high quality and the fish to rice ratio was spot on! They had many different options of nigiri to try, so we definitely got to try a little of everything. There was only 1 item we didn't like and our server was kind enough to remove it from our bill. Overall it was a good place for high quality sushi. I just wish I wasn't so limited when placing orders since it is ayce and they already emphasis the leftover charge.
came first thing when they opened on a Saturday, it def was already pretty busy and they seemed short staffed. During our meal there was someone who i assumed was newer to the restaurant and the person training or teaching them was really loud and kind of rude pointing and touching all the tables trying to teach the new person the layout. I understand training but I don't think it was a good idea to do it in front of full tables of guests. or maybe have a map of the tables near the kitchen for them to review but training very very loudly and disturbing others guests just did not sit well. Besides that the food was great as always. I wish they did offer a less rice option but the portion isn't as much as other places. It's a very very busy location so i would recommend getting there a decent amount of time earlier than you'd want to eat.
Sushi sushi sushi. Loved everything about this place - the service, the food, and the ambiance. Fish is fresh and price is very reasonable. We went here right when they opened on a Sunday and didn't have to wait for a table. Plenty of parking and near so many good places to walk to after eating all that sushi.
Service was good and quick ~ never had to wait long to place new ayce rounds, arrived around 3pm on a Saturday for a party of 4 and no wait. Interior is really clean and nice decor. We did the $42 ayce standard and it was very good. Probably my favorite ayce sushi places. They have a huge menu of nigiri, carpaccio, appetizers, ramen, rolls with a handful of rice less rolls (we liked the Sakura roll). Sushi quality was great! Some items are limited to 2 pc per person like the carpaccio and those were some of our favorites. Unagi (eel) is limited in sushi form but you can get unlimited eel hand rolls.
Still my fav all you can eat sushi spot. Lunch deal is such a great deal. If you like salmon. Don't sleep on this spot. I hate when all the fish taste the same. But here the salmon is always nice and buttery. Great texture Salmon bomb I get regular salmon and peppered that has a slight sear Udon soup is really good here. Get the Nagasaki spicy udon. Flavor is so good. Little char flavor that I love. This is a must get Fried tempura shrimp is done well Always good food. Always great service. Plenty of parking
Food: the food here is delicious every time I come! Fresh fish and delicious taste. Service: friendly and efficient servers every time. Never an issue all the times I've come. Ambiance: very cute vibes! Love the decor and feel of this restaurant.
Good quality for a reasonable price. Personal favorites are the mackerel and squid. The service was good and quick. Their sides of ginger was great for a palette cleanser.
X-Fish has been on my list for quite awhile and finally it got to try it. We did the lunch signature $41.99 pp My friends have been raving at how affordable and delish the fish here is esp the toro but I had one order of it and I did not want another order off the menu at all. Only good tasting item was the Alaskan roll. Calamari Karaage is also a good appetizer. Items we tried during our visit: *Baked Mussel - came out on the cold side. Baked mussels is usually warm. *Alaskan Roll *Orion Draft *Grilled Chicken Teriyaki (Half Size) tastes like they used old oil or it's been in the deep freezer for awhile. *Albacore Carpaccio (2 pcs) *Yellowtail Carpaccio (2 pcs) *Baked Scallop Roll *Rainbow Roll - 1 - tasted normal. Walking into the establishment to put my name down it had a fishy smell. But I tried my best to just keep a positive outlook since I've had friends who rave about the place. But after the meal, I felt like I should've listened to my gut when I smelled how fishy it smelled. Restroom needed attention! Female toliet has no toilet seats and just needed to be cleaned up. I personally would not recommend this spot nor would I come back. I just felt very disappointed and like I wasted my money since it was not the best tasting. Tips: *Credit card accepted *Indoor seating only *Serves alcohol *Free street/parking structure nearby *They have another location in Buena Park.
Sushi is delicious! Our favorite is smoked salmon, the giant scallops, yuzu yellowtail and Cajun tuna. We enjoyed everything but the tri peppered sushi, they were mildly flavored and underwhelming. The first two rounds of our order arrived quickly but the third time we had to get the servers attention to pick up the order sheet (I noticed another table had to do the same) staff passed by our table multiple times and didn't pick it up. This time the sushi took a long time to arrive, it pushed us to the 90 minute time limit. I appreciated one staff member coming by and giving grilled chicken skewer sample (very good!) The restaurant is round shaped and the acoustics inside is awful. It's very noisy and it's difficult to hear the staff. The chairs scrape on the floor. Also the table tops have water damage from the ice water glass condensations, coasters would help. The restrooms were ghetto. One of the women's sink was out of order, one of the stalls was out of toilet paper but the big roll was precariously hanging from the stall door hook and it fell and rolled on the floor. For the price I expected a better experience.
Tried this for dinner on a Thursday around 6 pm with a party of 2. We were seated right away, but heads up, they won't seat you until everyone in your party arrives. It's located in a big shopping center with Ralph's and Home Goods. I'd recommend parking in the open lots since it's much easier to find a spot than using the structure next to X-Fish. We went with the Omakase and spent about $60 each including tip. Food was good with a nice variety, including tonkotsu, sushi (of course), and a chicken BBQ skewer. The seafood quality was solid, although u had just gotten back from Japan, so it's hard not to compare. We wanted to try some of their wines, but they only sold it by the bottle, which was more than we wanted. Taking off 1 star because it was very loud inside. I think it's the way the space is built - everyone's voices seem to echo. Overall, good food and decent value, just not the best place if you're looking to have conversation over dinner.
It's almost $45 a person and it's supposedly renowned but call me picky it's just not worth the hype or cost. Wait times can be extensive due to the popularity. You're limited to 3 rounds (20 pieces each) of nigiri. You're also limited to 2 rolls and 2 appetizers or something absurd for the online menu and have to wait in between to order more. Quality of fish is ok compared to other places I've had, but for the cost it's nothing spectacular. Overall, it's better AYCE than other places I've been, but it's on the higher cost end for AYCE. The overall ambiance is nice and fancier. It's really clean inside and feels premium.

Finally decided to give this place a try on a Friday night around 8:30 pm. It's tucked in downtown Brea with plenty of parking so you don't have to worry. There's a parking structure nearby. I fear my expectations were a bit too high, considering the amount of hype it's gotten from social media. Given that it's ayce, the fish quality was just okay to me but I do enjoy the vast variety of other foods they serve like the ramen and udon and skewers - however we did only get one round of skewers the entire night. Also did not like how they close at midnight but last call was around 9:30 or 10:30 I forget. Service was a bit lacking as well, slow and had to keep flagging them down to fill my water and such. read more

From start to finish, my family's experience was horrible. We wanted to get up and leave once we were explained how the menu works from our waiter, whom was very unprofessional, and did not do great at explaining it to us.. It's an all you can eat exclusive sushi restaurant, which we did not know. If it's $40 per person at the minimum make that apparent!!! We just thought well, okay let's try it out. We should have left. A group of 5 people actually got sat down and we saw them leave after the waiter explained what they were getting into. There's a 90 minute limit to eat and out of that time it took an hour to get 3 pieces of nigiri. The food really wasn't worth it anyways. I've had better sushi, quality fish, and on top of that good customer service ELSEWHERE. Upon looking at other reviews it has apparently been noted that this place is disgusting! Dirty restroom, chipped plates, and disgusting floors. Not the place you want to eat from, i could only imagine the kitchen. The staff does not take accountability for the poor service, and when asked to speak with someone they were flustered and "called their boss".. to which never showed up, never was further addressed and we left unsatisfied and quite frankly still hungry. $175 for 4 people, do yourself a favor and save your money and time and don't go here. read more

2nd time here and still impressed by the quality and taste of the fish. Came w/ as a group of 4 and devoured everything. Thoroughly enjoyed how each nigiri were made w/ a small portion of rice which allowed me to really savor the fish. Favorites were the salmon carpaccio, salmon nigiri, unagi nigiri, and basically everything from the omakase plate. Would come back again because (1) the price point, (2) quality and taste of the fish, and (3) fish-rice ratio. read more

Alright, officially a regular here. Have tried the omakase, riceless rolls, salmon collar and many others as I've combed through the menu. They also bring out Yaki tori for you to taste and that's hella bomb too! This place puts consistently great quality sushi on the table. Everything is delicious, and everything I've had has not missed. Plus, they have my favorite beer Orion. Only thing I wish they had was Uni. read more

We got AYCE and left super satisfied (and definitely stuffed). We came as a group of four and somehow hit over 120 pieces definitely one of our more ambitious sushi nights. The salmon was hands down the best it was buttery, fresh, and easily something we would order again right away. The tri-peppered salmon had a strong kick, so if you're not big on pepper, maybe pace yourself on that one. The katsuo salmon was a nice twist from the usual, and the masago smelt egg, eel, yellowtail, tuna, and salmon hand roll were all delicious as well. There was no wait to get a table, which was great, but the food took quite a while to come out after placing each round. Still, once it arrived, everything tasted great and was worth the wait. The vibe was easygoing, the staff was friendly, and overall it's a solid spot for a fun AYCE night with friends -- just don't come starving if you're not patient. read more

I think we've discovered a new favorite go to place for sushi, and we just happened to stumble on it at just the right time! Situated right at the West end of Birch St, there's ample parking, either on the street or in the parking structure behind the restaurant. Make sure you check in on the tablet in front of the restaurant to be placed on the wait list. We only waited a few minutes to be called, as we arrived right before the dinner rush. There were only three groups of people in the restaurant, but within 20 minutes, the restaurant was almost at capacity. I do strongly recommend you bring a jacket or warm clothing, as the vents work very, very well. The signature AYCE menu runs $39.99, and for an additional $15, you get your own Omakase plate. We opted for the Omakase menu and didn't regret it at all. Every piece of fish was fresh with just the right amount of rice to fish ratio. The servers also periodically walk around with pass around items, where you have the option to take and try a random creation of the chef's delight. To order, you have a QR code on your table or on a clipboard presented to you by the server that you scan. The menu is a little tricky to navigate, but not overly complicated. The premium items are on a separate ordering paper, and there are limits to some of the items on said menu, which the servers are more than happy to go over. The prompt and friendly service, as well as the amazing menu will bring us back again and again. read more

Hello Pete,…
Amazing AACE sushi for the price! They use very little rice for the nigiri so you end up filling up on mostly fish which is a plus! Surprisingly the wakame udon was a huge hit-- this could be a single dish at a specialty udon restaurant I'd pay a lot for! One star off for the riceless sushi rolls because they were pretty wet and messy to eat with all the imitation crab and sauces. Nevertheless this is one of the best AACE sushi in Orange County in my opinion and a must try! read more

It was my first time at this restaurant and how absolutely filling! Very very fast service and i loved that you could order on your phone. Made it much easier, not having to wait for someone to swing by to get your next order. The soup was delicious! Wish it was spicier but very yummy! $40 "All You Can Eat" -- except it's not. You get 10 pieces per person per round, 3 rounds total. First round came out great, quality like a $55 AYCE spot. Second round? Felt like they were already cutting corners. Third round? I've had similar sushi from the grocery store fridge. So basically, you're paying $40 for 10 good pieces and 20 "why did I eat this?" pieces. Also you order side orders on a qr code site but when we forgot something on our second round, the site said we have to wait 5 min to order again. The shishito peppers, however, were the best i've had so far in any AYCE sushi places and so were the udon. Such a shame to be complimented by the kitchen orders than the sushi itself. Service was just as disappointing. You order on paper like usual, but nobody checks drinks, clears plates, or even looks your way. And it's not like they were busy -- maybe 6 tables total when we were there. The place was huge and looked higher end but the plates were all chipped and cracked?? If you want to spend $40 to watch your sushi quality plummet in real time while your water glass stays empty, this is the place. Otherwise, hit up a $35 AYCE and use the extra $5 to tip a server who actually cares. read more

My favorite AYCE sushi in the entire US! Their tri peppered salmon and buttered shrimp are so full of umami flavor and goodness that I get cravings for them. I also enjoy their rolls, while I am not someone who typically likes rolls. Overall, you can expect a good rice to fish ratio. They also come around with chicken skin/chicken skewers which are delicious as well. The flavors here are amazing. I've been here a few times at different times. Service is faster the earlier you get there for weekday lunch as far as I have noticed. It's a bit slower if you come around 1pm. The interior is nice and contributes to a relaxed, social hangout vibe. I love taking groups of 4ish here as well can all try different things and it's a nice spot to chat. Parking is free in the nearby parking structure. read more

Hi Shelley,…
High quality AYCE SUSHI! The wait on a Sunday wasn't too bad and the location is right next to the parking garage. The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside and seats a lot of guest. Servers were very nice and accommodating since it was our first time. We went with the signature $39.99 AYCE menu. The signature menu has the bluefin tuna and other high quality sushi pieces. You get 3 rounds from the paper menu and the other items like apps, specialty rolls, ramen, drinks etc is all ordered in your phone and sent to the kitchen. The sushi quality is very good for an AYCE sushi spot. The consistency and presentation all looked very appetizing. Some of rolls also come in 4pc vs 8pcs which helps conserve the room in your tummy for this AYCE experience. I can't remember all the names of the rolls we tried but enjoy the pictures! We would return for another trip to X-Fish in the future! read more

Heard great things about X-Fish and finally had a chance to try it. I came with some friends on a Friday night around 8:00 PM and waited about 45 minutes. It's in downtown brea and there's a parking structure close by but I just parked in the home goods plaza and walked over. I like how they close later at 12:00 AM and love the look/atmosphere inside. You can join the waitlist on Yelp to save some time. Their regular/signature menu is $39.99. We got the Omakase menu, which is $55 and the last call is 9:30 PM. The price for omakase is totally worth it! Everything was really good and it's only $15 more plus you get everything on the regular menu. The only items we didn't like was the carpaccio - there was something off about it, maybe too much sauce? We also added fresh wasabi which was $4.50 extra. My only complaint was the customer service. No one checked in on us, one of the workers (not our server) was cold and not welcoming. However, overall the quality of the food was really good and pricing was worth it! read more

Horrible service, rude employees. I'm a regular customer who comes quite often. Service has always been iffy but I came in with my girlfriend for the lunch menu deal on 09/18/26. We were sat with no waiting time and for almost 15 minutes no one decided to open the table or came to give us the menu. What was worse is that after waiting we even went up to the host and asked to get our menu but still no one came. It wasn't until after 2:00pm (when the cut off for the lunch menu end) that someone finally came up. We asked if we could still do the lunch menu but they said no it ends at 2pm and the system does not allow it even though we had waited for our menu and were seated for a while before 2pm. Servers here don't last very long and always seem to quit fairly quickly but it's crazy to me that every time I've dined here the service is always horrible despite having decent food. Will not be coming back and don't waste your money here unless you want to be talked down to and treated poorly by their servers. read more

If we choose the Omakase option, can we skip some of the sushi and just order the ones we want on the omakase set? thanks.
Typically, that's not how omakase works, but if you don't like something, you're not supposed to be able to choose. Omakase is chefs choice. If it's an already known set, then it's just a set. Now, you can tell them that you do not want…
Yelp and website state they take reservations, but when I called, they said they do not take reservations. anyone know the real answer?
They are always quite busy. You show up and you sign in on their guest registry and they will notify you when your table is ready. They do not take reservations.
Does everyone in your party have to do the omakase? Or can some of them do the signature?
Everyone in your party must opt to the same one-- either the omakase or the signature.
Does everyone at the table must order AYCE if only one person wants AYCE?
I would assume so.
I understand it's AYCE, but do the rolls come in half rolls or only full rolls?
Rolls only come in full rolls. No half rolls.
How much do they charge for lunch on weekend? weekday?
Lunch X fish option is only available from open - 2pm, Monday through Friday.
Is the omakase AYCE?
No it's not. You get an Omakase plate but just 1 plate chef's choice
Can you eat here on your own or does it require groups of 2+?
You can be a party of 1
Reservations not available on weekends?
Yes, or you can use the yelp app to join the waiting list
How long is the typical wait time at 7pm on Fridays with no reservation? I was only able to get a 10pm reservation
their reservation isn't accurate, you can put yourself online first, and then, on Saturday I had to wait for an hour, luckily the main street in Brea seems to be colorful and worthy taking a stroke down the Birch street
