Got the 2 different combos and beef finger so we could try all 3 meats. I was a fan of the beef tongue even though it was thick. It was cooked perfectly and if i wanted it more cooked, i ciuld heat it up on the little grill. I thought it was a lot of food since it came with salad, miso, rice and curry. I didnt really like the raddish sauce they gave us since it didnt taste like anything and it was slimey but the other one was good. Tissues are above you need extra since they give 1 napkin. They have a bag storage place as well. Service was amazing. I ordered soda and didnt even know whrn it appeared but my friend asked if i ordered a drink because they all got lychee drink but my drinj didnt come and my soda was on the table already. Also, we thought it was unlimited refills on sides but good thing my friend only got a refill once or twice and the server removed the charges because "he didnt clarify it wasnt unlimited" It is on the pricier side but it comes with alot so i cant compare it to the the other place since the meat is also different. Not group friendly since its basically a bar style table. The ones on the sides fit 2-4 max.

Unfortunately, Chubby TAN just barely missed the mark for me. I came in with a friend close to opening time and we were seated promptly. Service was good, although a bit awkward. The overall ambiance felt like a settling in business that still had a few things to work out. The menu was simple, a couple different combos and some side dishes to select from. We got the combo C which included both the thick cut and classic cut of their beef tongue. We also got a side of their lemon pepper beef tongue. The lemon pepper beef tongue had a good texture, but it came out lukewarm and lacked both the lemon and the pepper flavor. We ended up doing taking some of our own lemon from the combo and using their salt shaker to add more flavor. The combo also left much to be desired. The salad was a comically small portion, while both the curry and the soup were under seasoned and lukewarm. The beef tongue was also lukewarm, although they did provide hot plates to cook and warm up the beef tongue so that wasn't as much of an issue. The classic cut was okay, nothing to write home about. The saving grace was that the thick cut had a wonderful texture. Their miso paste was interesting, but didn't really enhance the flavors of the beef well. I personally would've recommended adding some wasabi to be an accompaniment if that was an option. Overall, the experience was average. It seems to be more of an overhyped place than anything. I think there's potential but still much to be desired.

Overhyped in my opinion...food was fresh and I like that it comes as a set menu, but we waited 30+min for the food to come out after ordering (on a Wednesday evening might I add) and the portion was smaller than expected. We each ordered another side of meat to feel content for the meal. Also, If you're not used to eating beef tongue, the thick cut might not be for you; recommend ordering half thick cut half short rib. The sauce it came with was pretty good though, otherwise the beef tongue isn't seasoned. Try to grab a bar/counter seat if possible since they have the little reheating grills there for you to self heat any meats you want. Overall, glad I tried it but wouldn't wait over 15min for it next time.

I really want to give five stars. However, my reservation is not in the system. But the good thing is that the server (I believe his name is James) and the manager worked the magic and put me at the top of the waitlist. Since this location has quite a few eateries inside the plaza. Finding parking may be a challenge, especially on weekends. Now, to the food. Wow, it was delicious. The combo set comes with soup, salad, curry, and rice. I ordered combo E based on the server's recommendation. The food was delicious. The soup, salad, and curry were refillable if you wanted more. The location is a bit small, and there is no big table. So, a big party may need to be split into two tables.

Very delicious and tasty beef tongue served here. They way is is presented is always appealing. The meat is very tender and if you like to grill it a bit for that extra crispy taste that is also great. The servers are friendly about some are a bit too helpful in the sense that they are doing things when not required or requested by the customer. Something to be aware of when you are at this restaurant. Overall it's a great place to eat given that it is under the Chubby brand.

This spot's in Diamond Plaza off Fullerton in Rowland Heights. It was my first time there, and I gotta say, the food's really good. You've gotta like beef tongue though, 'cause that's their whole thing. They've got different cuts of beef tongue to choose from. They also have A5 short ribs and wagyu options. I got their thick-cut beef tongue and wagyu combo plate. The food comes cooked, but the bar has a personal grill if you want it extra done. All in all, it was a fun time and the server was super nice.

Wifey and I have been wanting to try this spot and it actually hit the spot! Walking in, it feels like a Japanese style bar seating shop serving delicious beef tongue Combo set: 4/5 Actually really enjoyed this. The salad and beef tongue soup were great additions to cut through the richness of the beef. Thick cut was my favorite since it had so much flavor and a great bite through texture that a lot of places serving just don't get right. Curry was similar to the curries I've had at other chubby group which if I'm being honest, I wish was thicker. Flavor is good but the consistency is too liquid like for me What's great is that you get unlimited refills on sides with the Chubby plus membership so that's a great perk! Service: 5/5 Actually superb, the workers would come around very often asking us if we needed anything or refills on any sides Great new spot, I'd definitely come back but would probably just get thick cut next time!

    Christy T.

Amazing experience: no wait to go in for lunch. Go inside, don't wait outside. Beef tongue was very good: juicy and tender. If you are chubby member: you get free unlimited sides. There are four sets of set menu to choose from and choice to add finger meat if you like. Ambiance is very good, just like Japan! The only suggestion for management is if the female staff can be mindful of their personal spaces to male customers. They should ask if we needed help With cutting the meat, instead of just volunteering to cut our meats. We did not even needed their help.

Went out for an anniversary meal and it did NOT disappoint. Shoutout to our server Caleb too! Here's what we ordered: (all a 10/10 btw and it comes with wasabi or miso sauces, which brought an intense flavor to the beef tongue, but we enjoyed the meat without it) COMBO B classic beef tongue: chewy but tender and very yummy that we ordered another plate of beef tongue COMBO E ultra thick beef tongue and A5 beef short rib: i thought the ultra thick beef tongue would be chewier than the classic BUT IT WAS THE OPPOSITE... how could something so thick be so much more tender?? The A5 short rib was a favorite in that it was very nicely seasoned and had a good char on the outside, but is less tender compared to the other meats. Kimchi beef tongue: 5/10 -- meh. I liked both of them separate. Lemon Soda : 8/10 , tastes like a healthier sprite SIDES: Curry: very rich and yummy with a slight kick Soup: very tasty and light.. I considered this the palate cleanser. I could eat so much of this alone. Salad: i can go without but it has a vinagrette dressing that made it tangy. SERVICE: 10/10 really fast and they were really careful with food placements. AMBIANCE: nice bar seating which reminds me of Japan. The side tables are a bit smaller which can be crowded with the set combos. Inside is cozy and parking is ample. Overall, I would come again for a nice meal whenever I'm craving authentic Japanese beef tongue :) Insta: stacteaboba

Tried Chubby TAN and really enjoyed the experience! If you're a beef tongue fan, this place is definitely worth checking out. We got a combination with thick-cut gyutan and Wagyu, and the meat was tender, juicy, and cooked really well. The thick-cut tongue was especially good with just a little lemon and salt, while the Wagyu was rich and flavorful. I also liked that the meal came with rice, soup, curry, and salad, so it felt like a complete set. The restaurant has a fun Japanese-inspired counter setup where you can watch the meat being prepared right in front of you. Service was friendly and attentive, and everything came out quickly. Portions aren't huge for the price, but the quality of the meat makes up for it. I'd come back again.

    The much awaited wait!

First off, thank you to the Executive Chef for accommodating us when we mixed up the reservations within the chubby group. Two, Esther was a great waiter after the head chef helped us out. Now to the food, something that must be experienced at some point in time in your life and something that I want to make a regular stop at. Succulent, great ways to taste the he different parts of the tongue, but he dips and flips is so fun. The only thing on this day was some construction going on to get the full ambiance but this place has the greatest potential. I will be back to get other things.

Replacements! Medium & medium-rare ultra thick gyutan
    Tiffany P.

Tongue enthusiasts, unite! This place is dedicated to wagyu gyutan and even uses the Moto cut, prized for its heavy marbling and meltingly tender texture. The idea here is that the tongue is served medium rare, and you finish it to your liking on the hot stone. Our server mentioned that Combo E was their most popular set, but they had already sold out for the day. Instead, we ordered Combo D (Ultra Thick Gyutan & Japan A5 Finger Meats Wagyu Set) and Combo F (Ultra Thick Gyutan & American Wagyu Karubi). Both were good, though I think I would've preferred Combo E for the A5 Short Rib, or mayhaps going all-in on the Ultra Thick Gyutan Set next time. The Gyutan Miso dipping sauce was the only refillable side that we kept asking more of. It's the perfect accompaniment to the rich, beefy flavor. The meal did hit an early bump. The first round of meats came out inconsistently prepared and more cooked than intended. Thankfully, the team recognized the issue and sent out replacement plates that showcased the tongue the way it was meant to be served. Ironically, the mishap turned into an interesting tasting experience because we got to try the tongue across the entire spectrum from medium rare to well done. I can confidently say that medium rare is the sweet spot: incredibly tender and juicy! The more cooked pieces required a lot more jaw work and lost some of that delicate texture that makes the Moto cut so special. A big shoutout to our server Anthony for taking excellent care of us! The kitchen had a great service recovery. The modern Japanese-inspired, open-kitchen concept felt so warm and inviting! It's a cute spot for a casual dinner or special occasion. My only hesitation is the value proposition. The portions feel a little small for the price, so I'd recommend visiting if you have a Chubby Plus membership for the slight discount and unlimited sides.

    Combo C
    Mone K.

here was no line during Sunday lunch, which was a nice surprise.I ordered Combo C, but if I come back next time, I'd probably try Combo A. The ultra-thick gyutan was incredibly juicy, thick, and surprisingly soft. The other meats were good, but a little too chewy. The staff grills everything right in front of you, which is a fun experience. Just keep in mind that it can get pretty warm inside, so you might want to bring a small handheld fan.

There were four of us, including my 6 year old nephew, and it turned out to be the ultimate family meal. Since it was my very first time experiencing hot pot, I wanted to go all out and try a bit of everything. So we ordered both the Wagyu Experience and the Mo-Mo Experience, which gave us access to all four delicious broth bases. While waiting for our main meat cuts to arrive at the table, we checked out the self serve area. Their savory Japanese curry is mouthwatering, and they had a cold noodle dish that was super tasty. I had to exert some serious self control not to fill up on the curry before the main event, but it was just so good. Once the meats arrived, my sister showed me how to cook them in the bubbling hot pot. Every single broth had its own unique, rich flavor profile, and every single one was delicious. The quality of the meat here is premium grade, and the marbling on the Wagyu beef was absolutely outstanding. I'd love to see where they source their meats because everything tasted ridiculously fresh, right along with the items at the veggie station where they offer over 20 different vegetables, noodles, and toppings. This place is also a major win for families. My nephew said he actually likes this place way better than Korean BBQ spots because smoke doesn't blow in his face! On top of that, I absolutely love that they offer a kids' achievement incentive for straight A students. It's such a wonderful touch for families. And I loved the ambiance with fun tunes playing throughout the restaurant. Just writing this review is making my mouth water thinking about the incredible food we had. Kamon Sushi - Rowland Heights…read more Kamon Sushi is one of the few Japanese restaurants that has managed to stand the test of time in the Rowland Heights area. I've watched the restaurant go through management changes over the years, but they've done a solid job maintaining a consistent mid-level quality while continuing to attract local customers. One of the biggest draws is still their business lunch pricing. The menu is extensive, covering sushi, bento boxes, kitchen dishes, and more recently, yakitori. My personal preference is their bento boxes. The two-item and three-item combinations, typically ranging from the mid-teens to low twenties, remain a dependable choice. Inflation has made them less of a bargain than they once were, but compared to similar Japanese restaurants in the area, they are still reasonably priced. Over time, Kamon has evolved into a more modern Japanese restaurant with a broad menu. The upside is variety. The downside is that I don't think they've found one category that truly stands above the rest yet. The yakitori is alright. The tempura is alright. The sushi is decent. The bento boxes are probably the strongest part of the menu. What consistently stands out is the service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which keeps me coming back. Kamon may not be the place for the best sushi, the best yakitori, or the best tempura in town. But if you're looking for a reliable neighborhood Japanese restaurant with a wide selection, fair pricing, and great service, it continues to be a solid choice.

You have the raw beef carpaccio, the salad with sauce on top adds flavor to it, and finally it has the Lays chips on top to give it some crunchy texture. Japanese Wagyu Sukiyaki - My favorite thing from this evening. They do such a great show of preparing this for you and you get a dipping plate with a raw egg to get all the flavors in this. The sukiyaki sauce in the bowl was super flavorful and strong. Wagyu Short Rib - This definitely tastes better using the spices they give for your meal. It's more on the lean side so it was very easy to eat iWagyu Prime Short Rib - This has a little bit more fat and on the chewier side when ate plain. But with the dipping spices, it definitely brings out the saltiness the meat needs Wagyu Bibimbap - The staff will mix this in front of you and make sure all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed so you can get a little bit of seaweed, wagyu, sauce, and rice in every bite. Of course by the time we got to this, we were way too full so I only got a few bites in before I had to call it and to-go the rest. Mentaiko Buttered Scallops - This was amazingly creamy. However I did make a mistake by adding this to the chef's recommendation. The Chef's Recommendation is curated where everything compliments each other. The mentaiko buttered scallops had their usual strong salty taste and super creamy due to the butter, but it was too strong when added to the Chef's Recommendation that I could barely eat it during the meal. Our next return, I will go with just the chef's recommendation to avoid messing up the balance. But the chef's recommendation was curated very well if you're not sure what to get! The bibimbap and sukiyaki were the chef's kiss

Second time coming here for a birthday celebration. Food was delicious and service was ok. Overall…read moreexperience was neutral, felt like they were rushing everything. Lol Ambience is quiet and relaxed, but the rushed service just didn't match the mood. Glad the food hit the spot, but hopefully they let us breathe a bit more next time! Lol

Service was wonderful. Ordered and served very fast…read more Left the portable cc machine when I was done with my meal and didn't rush me. Ordered: green chili shio ramen w/ egg. Seasoned egg had a a lot of flavor. Most eggs don't really have any taste to me, but it made the egg special on its own. Good amount of pork. Sliced well, not too think or too thin. This was also tasty, not dry and meaty (not too much fat). The broth omg! Spicy but it doesn't linger. Allows you to eat more and is so delicious. I also came on a pretty warm day but the flavor and spice was wonderful. The noodles tasted very fresh and chewy. Best ramen I have a had in awhile with a distinct flavor. There were 2 regulars that literally said, "what I normally get" and they knew what that was. It's a new restaurant and there is already a community vibe to it.

JIRO STYLE ramen!! Almost as good as the famous 1 in Japan! Cabbage? Bean sprouts? Sure, why not…read more Anything to balance out the heart clogging deliciousness of Jiro's ramen. Everybody has got to try it at least once in their life. This thing just hits different. It's the triple cheeseburger of ramens. Sometimes you just crave something that ain't that good for you ya know? Get the Mashi mashi back fat add on... that's where the flavor comes from. Shoyu if you want the closest thing to the original. Also, what other ramen place offers Yuzu chili paste? So authentic and pairs well with Jiro's. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because I only come here for this dish in particular... but it's always only there for a limited time on certain months. What a shame. They should put a big light up sign on their window when they offer it or just make it permanent imo.
