    birthday hot pot!
    Charlotte D.

I wanted hotpot to celebrate my birthday and my fiancé found this spot right down the street from where we were hiking. It looked like it opened up just a couple months ago, and we were excited to try it out. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious, with wooden and marble accents galore. It was also air conditioned (it was a hot day) and was well-lit. You're greeted by a host that checks you in and walks you to the counter where you grab a tray and pot. From there, you can fill your pot with some of the best variety and highest quality ingredients I've seen at a hot pot place! From lamb, abalone, several types of noodles, to crab, fish maw, and Chinese donuts, there were so many choices! They also have a wonderful selection of broths. I ordered the tom yum (with coconut) broth, my fiancé the collagen bone broth, and our kiddo the miso broth. I forget the exact price, but they weigh your ingredients and you pay per 100 grams. You order any drinks you'd like; they have an extensive drinks menu with some alcoholic selections. We ordered a strawberry matcha fresh milk tea and a brown sugar milk tea (both with boba). Both were great and we would recommend them for order! The cashier gives you a number and you can sit anywhere. There is a sauce bar that is clean and amply supplied, so you can concoct your hotpot sauce while you wait for your hot pot to be cooked and brought to your table. We loved the freshness and quality of our food, along with the free ice cream cone (you will have to ask staff to bring it to you). We brought our leftovers home and enjoyed them again the next day! Can't wait to go back soon!

TLDR; the food is pretty good, there's free ice cream, but the service is pretty poor. The inside tables were really messy when we came in and waited. The servers were slow and didn't communicate well. It took a long time for us to get the bill, and they seemed understaffed. The malatang and sauce bar had a good variety of options. I tried the classic mala broth at a hot spicy level. It was a bit on the oily side but had good flavor overall. Also, they don't give you real spoons here. Only a small plastic one that felt really cheap. Didn't like that at all. The free green tea ice cream was a really nice little sweet treat at the end of the meal though.

One of my most favorite Malatang spots! The restaurant is very clean and a nice hangout spot. At the self-serve bar, the are a lot of options, and meat options varying from beef, pork, and lamb & a lot of seafood options as well! Sauce bar has a lot of condiments and some signage if you'd like to make sauce the way the restaurant recommends. There are also well over 8 different broth choices, ideal for people that are vegetarians or don't eat pork. The service is pretty quick, and they also serve complementary ice cream at the end. I always come here every week.

My friends and I arrived here on a Saturday evening for some early dinner with friends. Initially we weren't expecting much because this was not the first choice that we were going to eat at. It just so happens to be in the area and convenient so we went ahead and chose to give it a try. After this whole experience we were very satisfied with the establishment. This hot pot place is where you pick your favorite veggies, meats, and all sorts of different toppings and they will cook it for you. The price comes out after they weigh your personalized bowl you have created. It's a really cool system they have going on. The employees were super nice and helpful. It was our first time trying this spot so they gave a lot of good recommendations on the type of broths and how spicy to get it. The area was very clean and tidy. They do a good job to upkeep the area.

Another day another Big Way Hot Pot. This place already becomes local spot for hot pot foodie. Even with so many options in this neighborhood. Plenty of choices in the food and broths. Get as many as you want to eat and weight them. The price is in gram. Canadian thing. Now, they change from pay first to be more s sit down restaurant. Pay by the table. Similar to most hot pot places, including their main Canada places. Good large modern dining area.

Came on a Friday right when they open. Close to no one so I got lucky everything is stocked! Happy to be here because they have a lot of variety and they dont have a minimum weight! What a nice deal! Free drink before 5 PM on weekday! Bonus: free ice cream at the end and the wafer is nice too!

I love Big Way hot pot! I can eat here weekly but it can add up fast if you aren't careful especially if you're a see and grab person. Big Way is located in a busy plaza but we were able to find parking easily. The restaurant is clean and spacious. I love the broth which I always get the collagen beef broth. It taste great with all my ingredient picks. I love the selection and love my pot to the very end. It's everything I love. I love the unlimited sauce bar! They have everything I want to make the best sauce to dip. I was able to add a bowl of rice and it just made it more delicious combo. The drinks are great and the service is awesome! The best part is they even give you a free ice cream cone to end your meal on a sweet note. Overall, love everything about this place and can't wait to go back.

1 Star. Price. Price increased to $3.69/100 grams (published price on sign next to the cashier). On the receipt, however, it says $36.90/kilogram which translates to $16.77/lb in reality. So a meal easily comes out to be over $25 to $35 for a pot. Way pricier compared to nearby hot pot places. (I don't get why they must confuse us with weight measurement in grams when they should be displayed in pounds in the U.S.) 4.25 Star. Ambiance. Large dining area, and two semi-private segregated areas for larger parties, which is convenient for an ad hoc 50+ party event. Interior decor is a bit nicer than nearby hot pot establishments. 5 Star. Selection. Large selection of meat, seafood, vegetables, noodles, etc. Several soup base options and dry pot options. 3.5 Star. Taste. Despite many options to choose from, of the 4 of 5 soup base I've tried so far, most of them has a water-down flavor compared to similar hot pot places; not the most impressive. I do like the convenience of have many base to select from, depending on my mood, but the soup base has room for improvement. 5 Star. Perks. Has a rewards points system where you can redeem for free drinks or dollar off your order. I like the complimentary ice cream here. This is often the deal breaker when we decide which hot pot place to dine at. 4 Star. Service. Meal is served fairly promptly and visually pleasing. However, for whatever reason, every single time we've dined there, the line to get the food and wait for the cashier to make our payment takes F.O.R.E.V.E.R. without fail. I don't get why it takes so long. It does goes get on my nerves if I'm feeling hangry. 3.7 Star. Overall. Taste is decent, ambiance is fairly nice, plenty of seating, ice cream & rewards points perks are great, but the price inflation is a bit much. Net price-to-taste value is therefore docked a few points on my books. We will definitely be keeping our eyes out for other hot pot places to explore.

I came here with my friend yesterday and I thought Big Way is pretty good. I think I'll keep trying a different broth until I find the one that I like most. They have a lot of selections for the ingredients which is nice. They do tend to get pretty busy cause at the end, we did felt like we were getting rushed a little bit. I tried the Bone Collagen broth yesterday and I did think it was pretty good. It taste like the Demae Iccho Ramen - Instant Noodles , Sesame Oil Flavor (not in a bad way) but a little more deep and cleaner. While it's not something I went for, but since it is free ice cream at the end of the day and other malatang places doesnt provide this it is quite nice to be offered free ice cream. Although that was also the reason why we felt rushed cause we were still eating and the first waitress asked if we want ice cream. The 2nd person asking was pretty decent timing + but literally 15 seconds later the 3rd person asked us if we want ice cream. So we did felt rushed and we just went to get tea and talked outside instead. Overall, I prob will come back and try other broths.

BIG WAY is sooo good! Their broth was so hearty and soothing. I opted for their collagen bone broth and it was so flavorful and delicious. I put in chopped chilis to give it a kick and it was really strong, perfect for spicy lovers. Service was excellent and the inside was clean with plenty of seating. They gave us our tongs and bowls and the rest is self serve, pay by weight. You can even try their dry mix which is tempting for next time! They had a variety of meat selections: beef, lamb, pork along with seafood, meatballs, greens, and different type of noodles. They were refilling them constantly so they were fresh. I love that you can choose every single thing to your liking! There's also a self serve sauce bar (although lacking on the refills), it was a great selection of garlic, bbq sauce, sesame oil, cilantro, green onions, chilis, and even MSG! You can even register for an account to earn points for prizes each time you dine here! And don't forget the free icecream at the end which is a slight creamy and icy Hokkaido milk served on a chocolate cone :). Make sure to waive down a server to help you get this!

where have you been all of my life :') by far the best malatang place i've tried. they have an abundant variety of fresh, washed ingredients. the broths are so hearty and delicious. the sauce bar has all the classic dipping sauces. AND they give free soft serve in a cone at the end of your meal. dubs all around

The food here is SO amazing, I love that it's a build your own bowl and the price isn't bad. From what I remember it's around $13-$15 per pound. Also free ice cream when you eat there! You would need to wait for one of the workers to make a cone for you though. Service was great, they're very nice and since it was our first time here, they explained what we were supposed to do when we walked in. The place has plenty of tables! it's very spacious and pretty clean too. Parking lot can be a bit hectic depending on what time you come since there's other restaurants in the plaza.

#2 broth with shrimp and meatballs

You know what? This has been the best-tasting and best value malatang/hotpot place I've been to recently. Free drink before 5pm after 10pm? Cookies & cream cone for dessert, FREE? Yea it's hard to go elsewhere for malatang. At almost $17 a pound, this place has the best quality meat (even pork is good here), shrimp, and even offer albalone. The broth is definitely one of the highlights. Despite it being priced higher than other local malatang, I still come back here. This place goes thru ingredients rather quickly, so there's always someone slicing up fresh/frozen meat slices. I say thin lean beef is excellent for that beefy flavor (like brisket/rare steak in pho) and the fattier pieces are great for the dipping sauce. The lamb slices are rather thick (I'd prefer thinner like the beef slices) but still flavorful. The pork is tender and tasty, good like Boiling Point. The head-on shrimp is fresh and not pumped with sodium; you can tell by the texture when taking a bite because it's not artificially bouncy. I really like that they include albalone for the price because other malatang places don't dare to add it. Please try it if you're a seafood fan, or get it with the Tom Yum soup. I also like the crab pieces; they taste fresh and add a nice umami flavor to your soup. I do like the original broth, even at a higher spice level, it has that savory bone broth taste without being too salty or bland (like YinTang). The collagen bone broth might actually be my favorite, really rich-tasting without being too heavy in mouth feel. It's a well-balanced broth that goes well in any weather. YGF Malatang comes pretty close to their broth (their's is like #1 & #2 broth combined), but the drinks are better here and with more variety (10 soups/style to choose from versus 4) They actually check on our tables even though it's almost a self-service restaurant. They will also add more broth to your bowl if you're low. I do like how well-lit the interior is and how wide the walkways are because getting sauce does not feel like a mission here haha.

After looking over the three different menu tiers, I decided to go with Option C to ensure I had access to the most premium meat selections available. I was very impressed with the quality of the beef tongue and the wagyu, both of which were tender and flavorful, though I found the premium lamb in that same category to be fairly mediocre. I also sampled some items from the Option B tier and thought the youth lamb was quite tasty, although the ribeye ended up being a bit too dry for my liking. I appreciated the self-serve format because it allowed me to customize my meal with a decent variety of vegetables and appetizers like chicken wings, egg rolls, and seaweed salad, all topped off with their included drinks and a sweet jelly for dessert. Unfortunately, my positive impression of the food was dampened by the poor maintenance of the facility, as I struggled to walk across floors that were covered in a thick, dangerous layer of grease. I actually almost slipped and fell while heading to the bathroom, and once I arrived, I found the restroom itself to be quite dirty and neglected. While I enjoyed the meal and the birthday discount, I believe the management needs to address these safety and cleanliness issues to truly match the quality of their premium meat offerings.

For example, with a 90-minute dining limit, they may start asking for last call or preparing to kick you out around the 60-minute mark. The restaurant layout is also very tight. There's barely enough space for parties larger than 4 people. If you come with 5 or 6 people or more, good luck -- you'll probably either be seated in the walkway or split into two separate tables, whether they're next to each other or not. You're mainly getting the better quality meat from the "one per person" menu items. So the advertised A5 Wagyu experience isn't really what you continue getting if you choose the Diamond or higher tiers while dining in. Once your limited one-per-person items are finished, the rest of the menu is mostly average-quality meat. The sushi also doesn't taste very fresh, but it's still acceptable overall.

Our party of 8…read morewas immediately seated and given helpful information on how to order by the wonderful front of house (shout out to them! they were awesome had had super cool tattoos). We were pleasantly surprised that the lunch AYCE price was $25/person. They have a self service model for most of the meats/veggies/noodles as well as the sauce bar. You can also order appetizers and thinly sliced meat through their QR code. There were some snacks near the sauce bar such as freshly fried mantou and shrimp chips as well as bing fen and fresh fruit for a refreshing end of the meal treat. Everything was super fresh. The meatballs and beef belly were especially good and the spicy broth had the perfect amount of spice and flavor to it. I definitely would come here again to eat! One of the items that you can order has a peanut topping on it and the host was considerate to notify us about it. Upon hearing that one of our party members was allergic to peanuts, they came back with some freshly made without the peanut on it. Such wonderful service.

The restaurant advertises All You Can Eat (AYCE), but in reality the selections are quite limited…read more Only vegetables, meat skewers, and soybean-based items (cold tofu, tofu skin, etc) are truly unlimited, and these are self-serve from their fridge at any time. However, SLICED proteins such as sliced ribeye beef, sliced prime USDA beef, and sliced pork are restricted to 3 dishes per order, must be order by request, and are prepared in the kitchen. Portions are small and not sufficient for two or more people. When we tried to order a second round, only two dishes arrived out of the 3. On the third attempt, nothing arrived at all. On top of that, the wait time for sliced proteins was extremely long. While the menu is promoted as AYCE, the service appears to intentionally slow down and limit access to the main protein items, which is misleading and disappointing.

Would recommend the AYCE menu instead, a lot more worth then ordering by the item. The meat here is…read moreactually really delicious and the portions are big. The vegetables come pre packaged and served to you all at once at first and just like most of the other items you can order more if needed. The variety of side/apps are pretty wide from the regular hotpot sides, fries, to seafood boil. Never seen that before. The service was amazing and we were treated really well, we came for my gf's bday on 3/10 and the Filipino lady who was working the floor by herself made our experience a great one.

This place has so much potential. I see the vision but it's just not being executed correctly…read more Starting with the good: I think this is the only shabu place ive been to that has seafood boil, unique combination and im all for it. Its included in the "ayce" (one order), and it was good The meats are decent quality, they have a lot of soup base to choose from as well as appetizers. Now, the bad: i went on a Saturday night which is prime time, they only had one server working which meant slow service. Not the server's fault because she was nice and doing her best but come on, hiring an extra body isnt going to break the bank. She was running all over the place. They advertise this as ayce but its really not. You can only order 3 rounds of meat. This is a classic bait and switch tactic. Its 2026, get rid of this and be honest with your customers and in the long run itll benefit you

This place has seriously gone downhill over the years. I used to enjoy coming here for hot pot, but…read moreafter my recent visit, I can confidently say I won't be coming back. They've been cutting corners more and more -- things they used to offer are gone now, and even the atmosphere feels dead. No music, no energy, nothing that makes you want to stay. The food quality has dropped the most. I ordered the pickled cabbage hot pot, and it tasted like plain cabbage boiled in broth -- there was zero sour flavor. It was honestly shocking how off it was. Meat quality below the average and nothing left to order in a hotpot restaurant that tasted good. Service was just as bad. There were barely any staff around, and no one checked on us. When I asked for utensils, the server told me to go grab them myself from the sauce station. That's not service. Overall, this place is just not worth it anymore -- bad food, poor service, and a disappointing experience. It used to be good, but now it's a complete letdown.

I have been here a few times for dinner with each time a different group of friends. The meat is sliced and put around the hot pot. It is unique and I think the pot looks super cool. They have beef, lamb, and different types of seafood to pick from. Service is fast and overall I do enjoy having dinners here.
