waited for two hours on a weekday night but that was to be expected. they are located in a plaza so I walked around while waiting and got some drinks. I would say this place is much more about the experience than the food. they have all the meats and veggies out in an area and you can go up and grab as much as you like. while the meat was good, tender, and flavorful with the dry spices you can dip it in. I found it hard to get full as the skewers are quite small and the cost adds up pretty quickly. probably wouldn't come again for the food but was a fun experience.

Came here with a group for a birthday. First time I've been disappointed by a Chubby Group spot. The place seems different and fun at first, but it gets chaotic fast. The meat selection isn't great, and after a while everything starts tasting the same--you lose track of what you're even eating. With their membership it is not expensive, but honestly it feels like a lot of work for not much payoff. Wait was long, and the back room was really hot. Seating is low, street food style, which sounds cool but isn't comfortable if you're there for a full dinner. Service was good. Staff was helpful and kept clearing plates quickly, which I appreciated given how busy it was. There were a couple good bites in there somewhere... couldn't tell you which ones though. IMO, I rather go visit their other locations for BBQ, this place seems to cater to a younger crowd looking for a few bites of yakitori.

Parking is difficult Skewers are $1.1 each and the portions are tiny tiny tiny. Like probably 15cents worth of beef (2 small pieces) per 'skewer'. 1 chicken wing is 2 skewers worth. So stingy with the portions. The grill itself is tiny and takes too long to cook the meat. They also charge like $3 seasoning fee (?). The tables are so low I bumped my legs/ knees so many times. Uncomfortable. I spent like $30 and left still starving. Much better off going to AYCE kbbq.

$1.50/skewer

What a great experience! I've only ate at another skewer place so I enjoyed how this place was set up to really be immersed in the experience. Having it be $1.50/skewer is so dangerous with a hungry group like mine! Thankfully, halfway through we had a server keep track of the skewer counts for us. There's a good selection of meats and vegetables, but you definitely need to keep a watch on the sticks so they don't overcook/burn. My group decided to stick some raw garlic onto empty skewers and that changed the trajectory of our whole meal! Definitely will plan to come back! It gets busy so put your names down early.

This place was so hyped, but I don't think it fully lived up to it!! Definitely worth trying once for the experience, but I wouldn't go back. The meat selection was pretty limited. I did enjoy the grill-it-yourself setup, that part was fun! But... you have to pay extra for sauces + seasonings I think?, which didn't sit right with me lol. The vibe is very street food style.. cute, but you're sitting on low stools, so not the most comfy. Service was also a bit slow, & there were some communication issues... Overall: fun experience, but not somewhere I'd return to!! Maybe the other chubby places like chubby cattle!

Love the food here. Get a skewer, cook it yourself, and enjoy. There's a decent variety of cuts and meats. The ambiance is interesting, it's like those roadside skewer tents in China where you sit on a low stool while cooking over a fire. It's definitely a vibe at Chubby Skewers. It's a bit loud but def still a nice spot to hangout with friends. Only thing I don't like is that once you go into the restaurant, you come out smelling like heavy BBQ. Ventilation doesn't seem to be the best here.

Chubby Skewers is worth checking out, but come during the weekdays Mon- Thurs when the wait isn't as long. If you come on the weekend, get ready to wait an hour or 2 to get seated. We went on a Thursday night and we got seated right away. Upon entering, I noticed how warm it was inside. I wish it was cooler especially with the cooking that's involved. It would be nicer for colder AC. The kabobs being $1.20 is a pretty good deal but it stacks up fast. You definitely get the most bang for your buck if it was mainly wagyu beef. My favorite was the black pepper one. There are some seafood that will come with two skewers for a more expensive price. We got shrimp and although it had a good flavor, $2.40 just for one small piece of shrimp is pricey. On the good note, the dry seasonings complement the meats pretty well and was pretty addicting. I think it is still worth experience to check out. It was pretty cool having to cook the meat yourself. Just don't come entirely hungry cause it takes some time to cook the meats!

5-STAR EXPERIENCE! Not sure how many 5-Star reviews I have to make... But if you are looking for a new experience, come here! The A5 Wagyu skewers are juicy-bomb! The service is friendly, no matter who you are. The ambience is off the hook! Drinks only orders are welcome here! As for the music, I love how the volume is not too low or too loud. You can still carry a good conversation while enjoying the ambiance. The selection of EDM is my favorite. Think Darude's Sandstorm, and Greece 2000 - some throwback modern mixes too are encountered. Don't complain about the short stainless steel tables. Stretch your hips out if you need to prior to coming.

Alek H.

Really fun, but very loud and smoky place. Tiny portions but only $1.50-$3.00 each. I wish they had a wet dipping sauce. Only dipping stuff for the food they have are pepper, salt, sugar, and red hot pepper. We left pretty full and it wasn't that expensive. It is not all you can eat like some other chubby spots. The tables and chairs are extremely low and uncomfortable. Very difficult to eat and sit properly and comfortably. That's mostly why this spot gets three stars. The long wait and the uncomfortable seating.

Wagyu skewers

Chubby Skewers is a great late night hangout spot for a large group of friends. I'd recommend coming earlier rather than later into the night as it does get quite busy once it hits 8pm onward! It's located in a plaza with rather tight parking so you might have to circle a couple times during peak hours. You grab your own skewers from the raw meat bar along with other non raw meat items like fish tofu, various sausages, and veggie skewers. Everything besides the wagyu ones are $1.10 each. Be mindful of how much you eat as it's easy to keep cooking more and pay more! You get to season your own skewers as well with their different spice blends which i appreciated. Only complaint is that the seating is rather uncomfortable after an hour of eating. I understand it's to mimic the Chinese street food ambience, but I can't imagine how a taller person would be comfortable sitting in the short seats.

Indomie

Owned by the Chubby establishments for Chinese BBQ skewers in RH area, the wait on weekends is one of the worst I've ever come across. I put myself on another waitlist instead and by the time I was finished, I was still on the waitlist for here. My first visit, though, was chaotic and the restaurant is very crowded and blaring edm played. It makes great space for large parties, and it is a vibe to eat on the low tables and chairs. They also took over 25 minutes to make an Indomie stir-fry, and then proceeded to hand us the bill when uncalled for. I like their variety of skewers though as they had seafood, meats, and veggies. The experience felt rushed, and the skewers were taking a bit to cook, so patience is required since you will be needing to serve yourself here. They also kept pushing for us to download their app to receive $2 off and that is their method to place an order. Overall, you can choose to enjoy tasty skewers for a bargain, however, that comes at the tradeoff for reduced service and wait times.

Derek N.

Came here around 1 AM and there was about a 30-minute wait, but that's just because seating is a little limited and it gets packed late at night. Once we got seated though, it was so worth it. The vibes and ambiance made me feel like I was back in China which was super comforting and authentic. I love that the skewers are self-serve. All the meats are laid out in an open area where you can grab however many you want, and they charge $1.20 per skewer. We mostly grabbed the lean wagyu to get our money's worth and it was SO tender. You get to cook everything yourself and exactly how you like it, which made it even better. With all the options and being able to customize it, everything was such a fun experience and it all tasted amazing. Definitely coming back.

Skewers
Mary A.

We came on a Sunday evening and had about an 80-minute wait, which wasn't surprising. There's a big parking lot, but it was completely full when we went. Seating wasn't my favorite. The tables were small and a bit awkward, kind of like grade school or camping-style seating. If you're tall, just something to keep in mind. It's a self-serve setup where you grab your own skewers, priced at $1.20 each. The meat quality was really good in my opinion. I also really liked their fried crispy milk dessert. Definitely worth trying! Service was just okay and didn't stand out compared to their other locations. One big plus is that they're open late until 3 AM.

Neither congee nor soy was salted/sweetened, so if you prefer more flavor, definely grab a seasoning dish, and load up the sugars to your likes. My bill came out to only $5.50 plus tax, which is ridiculously cheap! For the congee, the options were Century Egg & Lean Pork, Eight Treasure, Millet, and Hulatang (Spicy Pepper Soup). I tried the Century Egg & Lean Pork congee, but the texture was a bit watery, and the flavor was somewhat bland. The Hulatang (hot pepper soup) was a little too thick and jelly-like. While the Millet congee was also on the bland side, I actually really enjoyed the texture. I skipped the Eight Treasure congee this time. Honestly, at $3 for all-you-can-eat congee, it sounds too good to be true, so I didn't have high expectations for the quality. However, I really liked the cold side dishes bar! They had all my favorites, including Liángbàn Tǔdòusī (shredded potato salad), shredded wood ear mushroom salad, and spicy cucumber salad. I will definitely go back next time to try their dumplings, wontons, and baozi.

A pot of rice was included in our meal. The steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork was a nice appetizer that arrived first. I enjoyed how the French-style filet mignon was garnished with Thai basil, black pepper, and ginger. The meat was flavorful and tender. The braised tofu in brown sauce was consistently hot on the inside. The delicious brown sauce soaked throughout the vegetables. The chicken chow mein didn't have a lot of sauce, but it was still delicious with a lot of meat included. Overall, it would be nice to visit again outside of a peak time because the food prices are competitive. The menu is expansive, and the breakfast selections look interesting.
