If I had to describe this place in two words, it would be missed potential. The food here was honestly amazing, but unfortunately, the service didn't quite live up to the quality of the food. If Yelp allowed half stars, I would give this place a 3.5/5, and I'll explain why. Starting with the food, I honestly have no complaints. The fish was incredibly fresh, and you could tell they weren't cutting corners when it came to quality. Everything we ordered from the sushi bar tasted great, and the rolls were a good size with generous portions. The fried food was also amazing, perfectly crispy and cooked well without feeling overly greasy. The ramen was another solid choice, and overall, the food was easily the highlight of our visit. Whoever is running the kitchen and sushi bar definitely knows what they're doing. Unfortunately, the service was a completely different story. This was our first time visiting, and from the moment we walked in, the experience felt a little underwhelming. We weren't greeted with much enthusiasm, nobody seemed to have a smile on their face, and there wasn't much effort to make us feel welcomed. Since this was our first visit, we weren't familiar with how everything worked, and nobody took the time to explain the ordering process. One thing I found a little strange was how the food was brought to our table. Whenever our sushi orders arrived, nobody explained which fish was which. They would bring the plates over, stand there looking at us, and wait for us to figure out where to make room. No "excuse me," no asking us to move a plate, or even a simple explanation of what they were serving. It was almost like we were supposed to read their minds. Another thing was the water situation. Our glasses weren't refilled unless we asked, and even then, we had to ask multiple times. I understand restaurants get busy, and I don't expect someone to constantly check on our table, but I feel like refilling water is one of the simplest parts of good service. What disappointed me the most was the overall lack of friendliness. There wasn't much conversation, no checking in to see how our food was, and honestly, no real sense of hospitality throughout our meal. Of course, once it was time for the bill and tip, the interaction suddenly felt a little more attentive. I'm honestly one of the easiest people to please when it comes to restaurants. I don't expect anything fancy, and a simple smile, friendly greeting, and decent service go a long way with me. I've only ever given five-star reviews on Yelp, so writing something less than five stars is a little difficult for me, especially when the food was this good. Overall, I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. The quality of the fish, the sushi, the fried food, and the ramen were all excellent, and I would gladly come back for the food alone. I feel like with a little more attention to customer service and hospitality, this place would easily be a five star experience. I'm also interested in trying their Buena Park location to see how the two compare. Great food deserves great service, and unfortunately, this visit only delivered on one of those.
This place is the place to go for quick and friendly service. Food is delicious and fresh. Good for large group because the atmosphere is loud.
I've heard many good things about this place and I understand why! We were luckily enough to come on a day that wasn't too crowded and got seared immediately. The chairs imo, were too high for the table, I felt like I was hovering over the food, idk if that makes sense but something I noticed immediately after sitting. The menu system is a bit confusing. There's a paper menu and one you place online via QR code. For the paper menu, we were limited to 20 pieces of nigiri at a time. This wasn't a huge deal since it was only 2 of us, but I can see how that can become frustrating with larger groups especially since there's only 3 rounds, unless the limit increases with group size. The online ordering system only allowed you to order 2 appetizers at a time. I love me some baked mussels and unfortunately 1 order = 1 baked mussels which means we were only able to order 2 mussels at a time and then have to wait until our 5 minute wait period is over before placing another order. This is the first sushi restaurant that I been to that had this small of a limit... They also limited you on the carpaccio order but that was expected. Aside from the menu and ordering frustration, I think their food and service is great. Their fish tasted very high quality and the fish to rice ratio was spot on! They had many different options of nigiri to try, so we definitely got to try a little of everything. There was only 1 item we didn't like and our server was kind enough to remove it from our bill. Overall it was a good place for high quality sushi. I just wish I wasn't so limited when placing orders since it is ayce and they already emphasis the leftover charge.
Sushi sushi sushi. Loved everything about this place - the service, the food, and the ambiance. Fish is fresh and price is very reasonable. We went here right when they opened on a Sunday and didn't have to wait for a table. Plenty of parking and near so many good places to walk to after eating all that sushi.
came first thing when they opened on a Saturday, it def was already pretty busy and they seemed short staffed. During our meal there was someone who i assumed was newer to the restaurant and the person training or teaching them was really loud and kind of rude pointing and touching all the tables trying to teach the new person the layout. I understand training but I don't think it was a good idea to do it in front of full tables of guests. or maybe have a map of the tables near the kitchen for them to review but training very very loudly and disturbing others guests just did not sit well. Besides that the food was great as always. I wish they did offer a less rice option but the portion isn't as much as other places. It's a very very busy location so i would recommend getting there a decent amount of time earlier than you'd want to eat.
Service was good and quick ~ never had to wait long to place new ayce rounds, arrived around 3pm on a Saturday for a party of 4 and no wait. Interior is really clean and nice decor. We did the $42 ayce standard and it was very good. Probably my favorite ayce sushi places. They have a huge menu of nigiri, carpaccio, appetizers, ramen, rolls with a handful of rice less rolls (we liked the Sakura roll). Sushi quality was great! Some items are limited to 2 pc per person like the carpaccio and those were some of our favorites. Unagi (eel) is limited in sushi form but you can get unlimited eel hand rolls.
Good quality for a reasonable price. Personal favorites are the mackerel and squid. The service was good and quick. Their sides of ginger was great for a palette cleanser.
Still my fav all you can eat sushi spot. Lunch deal is such a great deal. If you like salmon. Don't sleep on this spot. I hate when all the fish taste the same. But here the salmon is always nice and buttery. Great texture Salmon bomb I get regular salmon and peppered that has a slight sear Udon soup is really good here. Get the Nagasaki spicy udon. Flavor is so good. Little char flavor that I love. This is a must get Fried tempura shrimp is done well Always good food. Always great service. Plenty of parking

X-Fish has been on my list for quite awhile and finally it got to try it. We did the lunch signature $41.99 pp My friends have been raving at how affordable and delish the fish here is esp the toro but I had one order of it and I did not want another order off the menu at all. Only good tasting item was the Alaskan roll. Calamari Karaage is also a good appetizer. Items we tried during our visit: *Baked Mussel - came out on the cold side. Baked mussels is usually warm. *Alaskan Roll *Orion Draft *Grilled Chicken Teriyaki (Half Size) tastes like they used old oil or it's been in the deep freezer for awhile. *Albacore Carpaccio (2 pcs) *Yellowtail Carpaccio (2 pcs) *Baked Scallop Roll *Rainbow Roll - 1 - tasted normal. Walking into the establishment to put my name down it had a fishy smell. But I tried my best to just keep a positive outlook since I've had friends who rave about the place. But after the meal, I felt like I should've listened to my gut when I smelled how fishy it smelled. Restroom needed attention! Female toliet has no toilet seats and just needed to be cleaned up. I personally would not recommend this spot nor would I come back. I just felt very disappointed and like I wasted my money since it was not the best tasting. Sushi is delicious! Our favorite is smoked salmon, the giant scallops, yuzu yellowtail and Cajun tuna. We enjoyed everything but the tri peppered sushi, they were mildly flavored and underwhelming. The first two rounds of our order arrived quickly but the third time we had to get the servers attention to pick up the order sheet (I noticed another table had to do the same) staff passed by our table multiple times and didn't pick it up. This time the sushi took a long time to arrive, it pushed us to the 90 minute time limit. I appreciated one staff member coming by and giving grilled chicken skewer sample (very good!) The restaurant is round shaped and the acoustics inside is awful. It's very noisy and it's difficult to hear the staff. The chairs scrape on the floor. Also the table tops have water damage from the ice water glass condensations, coasters would help. The restrooms were ghetto. One of the women's sink was out of order, one of the stalls was out of toilet paper but the big roll was precariously hanging from the stall door hook and it fell and rolled on the floor. For the price I expected a better experience.
Tried this for dinner on a Thursday around 6 pm with a party of 2. We were seated right away, but heads up, they won't seat you until everyone in your party arrives. It's located in a big shopping center with Ralph's and Home Goods. I'd recommend parking in the open lots since it's much easier to find a spot than using the structure next to X-Fish. We went with the Omakase and spent about $60 each including tip. Food was good with a nice variety, including tonkotsu, sushi (of course), and a chicken BBQ skewer. The seafood quality was solid, although u had just gotten back from Japan, so it's hard not to compare. We wanted to try some of their wines, but they only sold it by the bottle, which was more than we wanted. Taking off 1 star because it was very loud inside. I think it's the way the space is built - everyone's voices seem to echo. Overall, good food and decent value, just not the best place if you're looking to have conversation over dinner.
It's almost $45 a person and it's supposedly renowned but call me picky it's just not worth the hype or cost. Wait times can be extensive due to the popularity. You're limited to 3 rounds (20 pieces each) of nigiri. You're also limited to 2 rolls and 2 appetizers or something absurd for the online menu and have to wait in between to order more. Quality of fish is ok compared to other places I've had, but for the cost it's nothing spectacular. Overall, it's better AYCE than other places I've been, but it's on the higher cost end for AYCE. The overall ambiance is nice and fancier. It's really clean inside and feels premium.

DO NOT COME HERE. WORST DINING EXPERIENCE. My family and I came to X-Fish Izakaya on Fourth of July for dinner since we were nearby running errands. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. Let's start off with the sushi and carpaccio. The albacore carpaccio had a weird, unfresh bitter taste. We informed our server, Jayden, of this and told him to let the sushi chef know. We asked if he could replace the albacore carpaccio with another type of fish, but he denied our request. Not only did Jayden not do anything to resolve the quality issue, he just took it, and threw it away in the trash can. Next, let's move to the hot food items, the baked mussels were cold when they came out. We decided to order it again and give it another try on our second round, we tasted it immediately and it was just as cold as the ones from the first round. Judging from the temperature of the baked mussels, it is definitely premade and just came out from the refrigerator. We also informed Jayden of this and his attitude was the same as before. He just took it away and acted like nothing happened. We wanted to ask for the order sheet, but Jayden misunderstood and thought that we were asking for the check because the music in there was at full blast. Jayden suddenly mentioned if we knew about the policy about leftovers and rice, at that time, there was like two pieces of sushi on our table. We mentioned that we were not done with our meal yet and we just wanted to order more items. Jayden kept pointing at us and wouldn't leave us alone. Jayden emphasized that he is only the server and he can't do anything about the food quality. I completely understand that, but he only wanted to argue with us, instead of solving the issues. Since Jayden did not want to resolve any of the food quality issues, we asked if we could speak to the manager and he mentioned that the manager is not here. The management team here needs to train its staff on customer service. Do yourself a favor, avoid this restaurant, and save your money and time for better AYCE places out there. We left the restaurant within an hour and ended up buying tacos afterwards. Definitely one of the most memorable Fourth of Julys I've had. read more

I love sushi--especially high-quality sushi--so I usually avoid all-you-can-eat places. But after being invited by friends and seeing the great reviews, I decided to give this spot a try, and I'm glad I did. When we arrived, we were first led to the outdoor seating area, which didn't have air conditioning. Since we saw indoor tables available on our way in, we asked if we could sit inside instead. At first, they were hesitant to accommodate the change, but they eventually moved us indoors, which we really appreciated. The inside was quite loud, making it hard to have a conversation, so we decided to just focus on the food. The waitress explained how it works: you can order three rounds of sushi, but premium items like bluefin tuna and carpaccio are limited to the first round. There's no limit for side dishes like tempura, rolls, or chicken karaage. We started with the yellowtail and salmon carpaccio--both were fresh and flavorful. We regretted not ordering all four carpaccio options, since we couldn't reorder them in later rounds. The bluefin tuna was also excellent, but again, limited to one round. The rest of the sushi was good--not extraordinary, but solid quality, especially compared to some AYCE spots where the sushi can feel like an afterthought. Here, everything was enjoyable and well-prepared. The tempura shrimp stood out--light, crispy batter with tender shrimp inside. The chicken skewers were delicious too, though they only come around every 45 minutes, so don't miss them when offered. Overall, this place meets my expectations for an AYCE sushi restaurant. I left disappointed after my last visit. My party and I arrived for lunch, but we were told we could not get the lunch deal because it was one minute past 2pm by the time we were seated. This felt unfair, especially since there were plenty of open tables and it appeared the staff was not seating guests promptly. We chose the Signature AYCE menu and it did not disappoint! We tried a bunch of different nigiris but the standouts were the Yuzu Yellowtail and the Salmon. I wasn't planning on getting the grilled chicken teriyaki but they were passing them out and it was probably one of my favorite things that I had, it was so flavorful and perfectly cooked and was a nice texture/flavor break from all the sushi. The carpaccio was refreshing and the ramen was a good size. Everything we ate was delicious except for the pork in the ramen - it was so dry and flavorless, basically like old turkey deli meat. Tasted like airport sushi. Tried everything from tuna to salmon to their rolls. Absolutely awful. Either the flavor you got was a fart or rotten fish. How do people eat here? Didn't bother taking pictures because it was so ugly. The shrimp was for lols Update: we have been to Japan. And know good sushi. My salmon roe was slimy and was spoiled. Finally tried xfish with my husband and son. We opted for the lunch menu since we were there early on a week day. It was definitely enough to try different things and not get overwhelmed! We also appreciated the variety but stuck to some favorites like the garlic edamame, tri pepper salmon, and kiss me roll. The unagi is also really good but too bad it's only 2 max per person! Words cannot describe the quality of the sushi they serve. This place is always my favorite AYCE sushi place to go to. I like this location because you can place your name on the app without having to physically be present at the restaurant (the Buena Park location requires you to be physically present). The servers were attentive, and the sushi came out fast. The ambience is casual. I did see a number of large parties. I would totally recommend this location. Plus, if you have to wait, you can walk around the area and maybe get a drink from the bar across the street or do a little shopping at HomeGoods. read more

I had doubts about the omakase being worth it. I've tried it at the Buena Park location before and it was honestly worse than their regular sushi bar, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt because they were in their grand opening stage. This time, I loved it. The waitress didn't explain what any of the cuts were, unfortunately, but the quality and freshness of the fish were pristine. The nigiri were meticulously plated and topped with various garnishes that complemented the flavor of each fish. I can't choose a favorite because I genuinely loved them all. We also ordered some times from the sushi bar: salmon, tuna tartare, yuzu yellowtail, unagi, surf clam, and bluefin tuna. These were alright. I would only order the salmon and unagi again. I'd pass on the carpaccio and craft red ramen next time, but I'd definitely order the limited items again. The jumbo scallop, smoked salmon, and ikura were delicious. And finally, the yolo roll. Rolls are such a fun way to change up the scene from all the nigiri and this one was refreshing and a good size that doesn't make you too full. We went around 9 p.m. on a Tuesday, so there was no wait and the service was pretty quick. It's located right next to the parking structure too, so it's a very convenient walk. read more

X-fish offers very great quality fish, and the best part is the fish to rice ratio being appropriate. Not too much sushi rice, which is a great thing. It's AYCE, and the menu is scanned by the QR code once you are seated. Unfortunately, reservations are not allowed anymore. You have to sign into their kiosk waitlist upon arrival. Also, you have 90 minutes allotted for your dining experience. Parking is located inside a free parking structure, and walking to the restaurant was about a less than 5 minute quick walk. There are 3 different menu options, we opted for the second option. Food is 5/5. Don't miss out on the Japanese chicken skewers where the servers walk around asking tables. read more

How long is the typical wait time at 7pm on Fridays with no reservation? I was only able to get a 10pm reservation
their reservation isn't accurate, you can put yourself online first, and then, on Saturday I had to wait for an hour, luckily the main street in Brea seems to be colorful and worthy taking a stroke down the Birch street
