I love xfish so much their fish to rice ratio is the best nothing will ever compare to their food. hahahaha andy was our server tonight he was very helpful and attentive. the restaurant has good vibes on weekdays with tables available upon arrival. they might even let you pick where to sit!
Classy interior and quite spacious. We came on a Friday afternoon before 4pm. It was getting quite busy but we were seated right away. So the timing was perfect. Our host was friendly and he explained how everything works. As soon and we submitted our ticket, the food came out quick each time! They came out fresh and tasted amazing! 10/10
I'm so glad I chose this location instead of Buena Park because the service was so amazing! My friends and I decided to do the Signature Menu ($39.99) and it came with 3 rounds, 10 piece per person each round. There is a section of certain orders you can only order once a round so make sure to keep an eye on that when ordering. Other items and rolls can be ordered on your phone through a or code directed to a website and it includes items like the Spicy Garlic Edamame, Hand Rolls, and Tempuras. My favorites were the Sake Salmon, Hon Maguro Bluefin Tuna, and Unagi Freshwater Eel. We paired our meal with a bottle of Cass and Miso Soup to wash down. The salmon was not fishy at all and was buttery where it melts in your mouth. The rice to fish ratio was perfection where I didn't feel like we got ripped off at all. Parking was located in a structure and then you walk down to this place. Not a bad wait and also very quick service, even when they said they were understaffed.
Came here for my birthday dinner and had a great experience! I didn't realize it was all-you-can-eat, so definitely bring your appetite. They have a great selection of sushi, specialty rolls, and ramen. Just be careful not to overorder since there's a fee for food waste, which I actually think is a great idea. Fresh food, lots of choices, and a fun dining experience!
I've heard many good things about this place and I understand why! We were luckily enough to come on a day that wasn't too crowded and got seared immediately. The chairs imo, were too high for the table, I felt like I was hovering over the food, idk if that makes sense but something I noticed immediately after sitting. The menu system is a bit confusing. There's a paper menu and one you place online via QR code. For the paper menu, we were limited to 20 pieces of nigiri at a time. This wasn't a huge deal since it was only 2 of us, but I can see how that can become frustrating with larger groups especially since there's only 3 rounds, unless the limit increases with group size. The online ordering system only allowed you to order 2 appetizers at a time. I love me some baked mussels and unfortunately 1 order = 1 baked mussels which means we were only able to order 2 mussels at a time and then have to wait until our 5 minute wait period is over before placing another order. This is the first sushi restaurant that I been to that had this small of a limit... They also limited you on the carpaccio order but that was expected. Aside from the menu and ordering frustration, I think their food and service is great. Their fish tasted very high quality and the fish to rice ratio was spot on! They had many different options of nigiri to try, so we definitely got to try a little of everything. There was only 1 item we didn't like and our server was kind enough to remove it from our bill. Overall it was a good place for high quality sushi. I just wish I wasn't so limited when placing orders since it is ayce and they already emphasis the leftover charge.
came first thing when they opened on a Saturday, it def was already pretty busy and they seemed short staffed. During our meal there was someone who i assumed was newer to the restaurant and the person training or teaching them was really loud and kind of rude pointing and touching all the tables trying to teach the new person the layout. I understand training but I don't think it was a good idea to do it in front of full tables of guests. or maybe have a map of the tables near the kitchen for them to review but training very very loudly and disturbing others guests just did not sit well. Besides that the food was great as always. I wish they did offer a less rice option but the portion isn't as much as other places. It's a very very busy location so i would recommend getting there a decent amount of time earlier than you'd want to eat.
Service was good and quick ~ never had to wait long to place new ayce rounds, arrived around 3pm on a Saturday for a party of 4 and no wait. Interior is really clean and nice decor. We did the $42 ayce standard and it was very good. Probably my favorite ayce sushi places. They have a huge menu of nigiri, carpaccio, appetizers, ramen, rolls with a handful of rice less rolls (we liked the Sakura roll). Sushi quality was great! Some items are limited to 2 pc per person like the carpaccio and those were some of our favorites. Unagi (eel) is limited in sushi form but you can get unlimited eel hand rolls.
Always a go to spot for AYCE sushi! I love their service here too. Tonight we were served by Andy and he was very sweet and attentive. Good service on top of good food always gets me to come back!
My girls took me here for an early birthday celebration. We kept checking Yelp waitlist in the app cause it was a Friday night but the app kept saying no wait. When we got there, there was a waitlist and it was like 30 minutes. Kinda bummed they didn't just keep the app waitlist on. In any case, it didn't seem like it took 30 minutes which was great. We got seated and all seemed well or so we thought. The wait for food or any kind of service was horrendous. Like constantly having to ask for refills and then ask again cause the first server forgot. I legit saw some other table just get up and get their own pitcher of water to serve themselves cause they waited so long. The food also took forever to come out. When it did, it was good but definitely not worth the wait. It wasn't anything special. They also got one of my rolls wrong which took forever to come out in the first place and then forever to fix. There's also limits in the app for the hot foods, apps and rolls. I get limits but like limiting one tempura item per table or one single mussel per person seemed so extra. Oh and the yakitori comes by tre pas but like it rarely comes out and sometimes they skip your table so we legit only got two skewers our whole time there. The tempura all had a floury aftertaste so it wasn't light and authentic like it's supposed to be. The place is very modern so don't expect comfy seats, they were all wooden with no cushions. It did look clean in there though. All in all, I wouldn't come again cause of the service. Food was fine but if I'm gonna pay for ayce and then wait forever for food, it's really not worth it. Iykyk. There was no dessert and lots of extra charges for things off menu, more so than most ayce places. Quality seemed like it should have been better for the price point and what they're trying to be.
We ate good! Fish is high quality and service was fast. The wait time was like 25 mins on a Saturday night. There was also nice lighting so the vibes were good. Overall a great night with good eats!
Still my fav all you can eat sushi spot. Lunch deal is such a great deal. If you like salmon. Don't sleep on this spot. I hate when all the fish taste the same. But here the salmon is always nice and buttery. Great texture Salmon bomb I get regular salmon and peppered that has a slight sear Udon soup is really good here. Get the Nagasaki spicy udon. Flavor is so good. Little char flavor that I love. This is a must get Fried tempura shrimp is done well Always good food. Always great service. Plenty of parking

When you run out of ginger and ask for more, they will be glad to give you double the amount they gave beforehand. Celebrated our wedding anniversary at X-Fish Izakaya and finally got to try the spot we've been hearing so much about. We came in with no expectations and waited about 30 minutes--not bad at all considering how busy they get. The ambiance was beautiful, with high open windows bringing in lots of natural light, giving the space a bright and airy feel. We decided to go with the omakase AYCE, but it came with a few surprises. It's not exactly a true all-you-can-eat experience--there's a limit of 20 pieces of nigiri per round (up to 3 rounds), plus only 2 hot items per order. It felt a bit restrictive and slightly misleading for AYCE, which was a little disappointing--especially since many AYCE spots have similar limits on premium items. That said, the highlight was definitely the bluefin tuna--fresh, flavorful, and worth it. The omakase option gives you access to more premium cuts compared to the regular AYCE, where you're limited to just a couple pieces. Overall, a mixed experience: great ambiance and quality fish, but just be aware of the limitations before you go in. Still a fun anniversary dinner and glad we finally tried it! read more

The nigiri was incredible! Each slice was fresh cut and had a great quality of freshness. The fish to rice ratio on the nigiri is the best I have seen to this day, with each piece of rice merely complimenting the fish rather than diluting its taste. Special commendation to the squid since it was the perfect texture and tenderness. The peppered salmon was also quite special as well. Service was top notch with servers consistently clearing the table and refilling drinks. Our party never had to call a waiter over or ask for anything since waiters were very efficient and attentive. The interior is very well kept and has a simple, but elegant vibe. Great place for anyone,and is especially family friendly since children under 3'3 eat free and children between 3'3 to 4'3 eat at half price. My party went right at the 11AM opening for immediate service and no wait. The nigiri options are pretty good and the yellowtail sushi with green sauce was very nice. The yellowtail and tuna rolls were also very fresh and packed with flavor. The inside is quite big with plenty of tables, but even then this place gets packed even early during lunch hours and we had to wait 45 minutes on the waitlist to get seated. It's a little annoying because their lunch AYCE ends at 2pm and we were sat at 2pm and they told us it was dinner menu only. The ambiance is simple yet modern. The service was pretty good. You basically get a QR code that you can and then you use your phone to make the selections and send it to the kitchen and it is brought to the table. Besides that, this was a great AYCE sushi option in Brea and the locals clearly know because the place is loud and packed the whole time we were dining there. Beautifully yet minimalistic decoration. Service was good, slightly slow due to the lunch rush at 1:15pm. Wait time at check in on the iPad stated 20-45 minutes. But we were seated within 15 minutes. So that was a total plus. Good was delicious. Some of the best miso soup I've had. Nice deep miso flavor. Didn't taste watery or bland. Would have loved more seaweed in the soup though. All of the nigiri were good. Loved the fish to rice ration. Bigger pieces of fish to smaller balls of rice. The tri peppered salmon was way better than the tri peppered tuna. Thought it a bit stingy that you could only order the eel once per person; 2 pieces max. Ordered the shrimp tempura and the vegetable tempura. The dipping sauce for the shrimp tempura was too light and bland for me. The vegetable tempura I found quite lacking. It literally only had 3 pieces of vegetables. Really good AYCE sushi spot. The price is reasonable for the quality and everything we ordered tasted fresh. Came here on a Saturday at 5pm and the wait was about 1 hour. Checked in on the waitlist for a party of 2 in front of the restaurant and went for a quick drink across the street while we waited. I noticed not all tables were filled when we were seated, probably due to lack of staff that night? Not sure. Either way, you scan a QR code to order your food, including drinks. Service was very slow and the food came out slowly too. Our first round took about 25 mins before arriving - we immediately put our second order in when our food came. We ordered the standard Ayce for weekend, not the omakase. I will say the omakase is a good choice if you're really hungry or if you like bluefin tuna. My favorite nigiri of the night was the seared tuna, so fatty and delicious. Everything else was fresh as well. I will say their regular tuna tasted odd though. X fish is a good place in Brea for Ayce, I've come twice now. I'd say give it a shot if you're craving decent sushi, just make sure you have the time to spend waiting! Overall ambiance is calm, even with lots of people. Parking is easy if you park in the structure. Restrooms are located past the sushi bar. read more

Really enjoyed our experience at X Fish! We went for the dinner all-you-can-eat Signature Menu, which is $41 per person and has a great variety of options. I've been to Buena Park location before but decided to try this one since reviews seemed a bit better. We came on Valentine's Day, fully expecting it to be busy, but we ended up waiting about 2-3 hours and didn't get seated until 9:30pm. Service here is the same as the Buena Park location, you'd have to flag servers down to place orders. They don't really check in on you consistently like other restaurants do. What I do like about X-Fish is rice-to-fish ratio. Rice portions are small and fish cuts are generous. Peppered shrimp nigiri, salmon, and bluefin tuna were really good. Only item I would avoid is ikura. It didn't taste fresh at all and honestly had an off taste that made my stomach hurt. Appetizers are solid like croquettes, cheese balls, and edamame, but miso soup came out cold.. which was strange. If you're looking for an AYCE sushi spot with attentive service, I'm not sure this location or Buena Park one would be best choice. To be fair, host did try his best to seat us sooner, which I appreciated. Overall, servers could use more training in customer service since they seemed more engaged chatting with chefs than interacting with customers. read more

Honestly was pleasantly surprised how efficient they are with turning people around. There's always a line. I just wish they didn't limit how many things we can order in one go. Food was surprisingly good overall. Al the appetizers and cooked food were actually great. I think they can improve the fish quality a little bit more considering the price but it's still good quality fish. I thought it would be more quiet but it can get loud in there but I guess there's just so many people and it can feel kinda crowded inside. read more

UPDATE: my family and I continue to come back every month or so. It's been a fantastic experience. We have found that arriving before 6pm seems the best for minimal wait times for our party of 4. We've come on busy weekends and also weekdays. If you can arrive before 6pm, the wait time hasn't been longer than 20-30 min. It might be more challenging if you have larger parties. But the staff are super friendly and efficient. The quality of the food has been consistent and it's a real pleasure to experience. The fish tastes clean and fresh, and always flavorful. The online ordering of the other non-sushi is easy and convenient to do. Turnaround times are fast despite how busy they get. Still super impressed by this restaurant and HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Came here because they're somewhat "viral" for the great fish-to-rice ratio and high quality fish. I was disappointed by certain nigiri's, namely the tuna, squid, and ikura. The quality is fine but not extraordinary, with the squid and octopus nigiri's being pretty chewy. Nothing was particularly fishy, except for the tuna. As for the ikura, it was kind of funny, as we had placed an order only to receive tobiko instead. When looking back at the ordering sheet, we found that the staff had crossed out ikura and instead wrote "tobiko" after handing us the order. I mean, at least they were honest. But we wouldn't have ordered it if we had known it was tobiko from the start. They have a variety of ramens, udons, and hot dishes as well. Tried one of their ramens and it was just so so. Everything also took quite a while to come out although it wasn't particularly busy at the time we were there. Makes you wonder how long you'd have to wait if there was a full house, especially since AYCE places have a time limit for the table. read more

I have driven past this place several time and finally came in with the boyfriend on a Wednesday night. It wasn't too crazy busy we added our names to the Yelp waitlist and were seated within 10 minutes. We did the all you can eat, if you've never been here before you ordered everything through your phone by scanning a little barcode they give you on a piece of paper and you can also select certain Sushi from the list that they have. Restaurant is super clean, very well lit from what I can remember. The only complaint I would have is that the seats are wooden and hard on the butt to sit on. We decided to order a bunch of dishes to try mainly albacore, yellowtail, salmon, and tuna. Everything tasted very fresh, melted in our mouths. Parking can be a little tricky because if it gets packed, it's limited parking however it's still a big parking a lot but definitely worth it. We will definitely be coming back. read more

We've been frequent customers of Xfish in Brea, so this review isn't based on one random bad experience. After a disappointing previous visit, we decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately, this visit was even worse. At $57 for the omakase option, expectations should be considerably higher. Instead, the fish was surprisingly bland, lacking both flavor and the freshness you would expect at this price point. The presentation looks great, but looks can definitely be deceiving. A few pieces were so unpleasant that we genuinely had trouble getting them down. The biggest disappointment is what Xfish seems to have become. It feels less like a sushi restaurant focused on quality and craftsmanship and more like an assembly line designed to move customers through. Omakase should feel intentional--you should be able to taste and appreciate the care that went into each piece. We felt none of that here. At this point, Xfish feels like it's more name than game. The hype and presentation are there, but the quality simply didn't back it up. For $57 per person, there are smaller, less-hyped sushi restaurants where the chef actually makes you feel like your meal matters. I'd much rather give those places our money. We gave Xfish a second chance hoping our last visit was just an off day. Instead, this visit confirmed that we won't be returning. When the presentation is better than the sushi, there's a problem. read more

They are always quite busy. You show up and you sign in on their guest registry and they will notify you when your table is ready. They do not take reservations.

How long is the typical wait time at 7pm on Fridays with no reservation? I was only able to get a 10pm reservation
their reservation isn't accurate, you can put yourself online first, and then, on Saturday I had to wait for an hour, luckily the main street in Brea seems to be colorful and worthy taking a stroke down the Birch street
