If you are a Harry Pottery fan then this store is magical! It makes you feel as though you've stepped into the movie and are visiting Ollivander's. The shelves are pilled high with all different types of wands and a bit chaotically to add the whimsical feeling. I just want to say I didn't find them to be fair at all. Nicer wands 50 bucks, the cheapest ones around 30. Like that's more expensive than the interactive wands at universal by almost $20. Oh my goodness! How can anyone give this wonderful little shop LESS than 5 stars (and it's tough to get five outta me)!?!? My wife and I recently spent several days in Boston and took a quick day trip up to Salem to experience the witchiest (is that a word? Is now...) city in America! We stumbled upon this little shop and were instantly transported back to our love of a certain wizarding world and their multiple books and movie adaptations! I mean, you see - many of us can't see or experience where real witches and wizards go for wands, so of course - "they" created a special store in the best place possible for us normal people... Upon entering the shop, you might as well be stepping right into one of those movies I mentioned above...truly one of the most magical feelings I've felt since Disney. We were absolutely enchanted by Rose - the knowledgeable and just plain magical personality behind the counter. She was just the best - she took the time, in a very crowded shop - to help us pick our wands by asking some simple questions. She knew everything about the wood, the make, what each wand represented and their strengths... We watched her interact with several people, including a pair of young girls who were tickled pink by Rose's help. My wife and I each left with a wand which we (and Rose) felt best matched our callings in life. We now have them proudly displayed in an antique cabinet in our home. We loved every second of our experience here, and - even though the pricing of these wants may be a tad high - the unique experience more than made up the difference! read more

If you want an overpriced wand go to Universal Studios, and get a Harry Potter wand, the lines will be shorter... My 11 year old daughter and I visited Boston over the Presidents' Day weekend and decided to take the train to Salem one day. Salem is a weird little town but we really enjoyed it. I wouldn't say there's much to do there other than just walk around and visit the shops. This wand shop was definitely our favorite. The lady working there was super cool. read more

The staff was friendly and made small talk. They also explained some things about my wand as they boxed it up. The way they box the wands is so careful with velvet bags and tube boxes to keep it safe on the travels home. I really felt like I got that full Harry Potter moment. read more

I was visiting today with out of town guests and took them in. The sales lady was working with a young boy- 10 or so. She was helping him choose a wand. I was blown away with how wonderful she was with him- respectfully answering each question about the strength of the wand and sharing with him the particulars of unicorn horn, ash and other magic. There's no place like Wynott's Wands (unless you go to Universal). The items are not filled with Harry Potter logos but with their own seals. Let me tell you though, once you walk in, it's like you are visiting Ollivander's at Diagon Alley. The employees are dressed for the part and make the experience feel so real. I've not bought anything but even to browse, they love educating you on these wands. I can't remember the prices but if you're planning a trip to Universal, these wands may be less expensive than the park and they look just as authentic. It's very unfortunate this place is so rude to families with kids considering it's a shop that can thank a children's story for its popularity. The kids in our group are obsessed with Harry Potter and were excited to get their own wands. But before we were even through the door of the shop, the lady helping customers was sneering at us and made snide comments like "what is this, children's hour?" to the customers she was helping. We were in the shop for a total of five minutes because of how uncomfortable she made us. She was very unprofessional and rude and I feel bad for any other families who go to this shop and have to be the subject of her ridicule. To the lady who completely ruined this experience for us, I would recommend a new job since you are clearly not cut out for customer service. Not only did you ruin what was supposed to be a magical experience for a couple enthusiastic little witches and wizards, but I'm sure you did not provide a very welcoming experience to the customers you decided to spew your hate of our kids towards. An excellent hidden gem of a store for any witch or Harry Potter fan. Service was excellent, with associates ready to answer any questions.

The reason I am giving this review one star is because of the bird cage in the front. There are two tiny birds which are in need of IMMEDIATE veterinary attention! They both looked sickly and mangy (or whatever the equivalent is in birds), missing lots of feathers, and one of them was just scratching and biting itself for 3-4 minutes straight, the entire time I was there. On the back of that one's head and neck was a large, completely bare patch with bright red skin -- possibly bleeding but I couldn't tell for sure. It looked like it was in complete agony. PLEASE GET YOUR BIRDS TREATED AT THE VET IMMEDIATELY!!!! DO NOT WAIT! Otherwise, in a city with literally 3-4 magic/herb/tarot shops on every street, Wynott's sets itself apart by specializing in wands, many of them locally made. Overall, not bad, with an array of side items also available, though some more variety would have been good (almost everything I saw was wooden). ***1/2 out of 5 for the actual products. read more

Spatial magic as well: I thought I was walking along Wharf street, when I popped inside this storefront and suddenly found myself on Diagon Alley (of Harry Potter fame). Inside you'll find a cashier dressed as Dumbledore, as well as wands. Wands upon wands, many of which are touted to be exact replicas of those wielded by Harry and Hermione and co. For such a narrow market, I do hope they can stay in business, as this truly is a one-of-a-kind shoppe. Like you've taken all the quizzes online and know what house you'd be in, what your patronus would look like, what position you'd play in quidditch, etc. You own all the books and the movies, maybe a time turner necklace or a maurader's map, and maybe even your license plate has a HP reference on it? If you love Harry Potter, THIS store is for you (especially if you can't get to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ at Universal Orlando). It's a literal interpretation of what a wand shop in Diagon Alley might look like. It's small, it's dark, everything is decorated in wood and hues of brown, and it's pretty empty besides the boxes upon boxes of wands on shelfs against the walls. Which wand will choose you? Something made of birch with a griffins feather? Or maybe maple with a kitten's whisker? You'll have to hold each one, feel the balance in your hand, and listen to your heart. That is... if you can get inside. My biggest issues with this place is a) that they only allow about eight people inside at a time (no, seriously, there's even "security" at the door). My family, for example, couldn't all go in because there were four of us. So my dad chose to wait outside since he had seen the shop before. That was kind of annoying - what if I was a HUGE Harry Potter fan and my dad wanted to enjoy that experience with me? Too bad, so sad. Move along. The prices ranged from $25 to $35... again, I personally have no need for a Harry Potter wand, but if this place existed maybe 10 or 12 years ago, I might have purchased one for my little sister for her birthday or something. There was a ten year old who was receiving a wand from his grandfather while we were there, and the kid was all but crying he was so excited. So - this place is definitely worth experiencing (because I promise you it feels EXACTLY how you would think/hope it would based on reading the books/watching the movies)! Only other thing of note - and this is just because I find it humorous - are the signs everywhere that say "WE ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH HARRY POTTER". Really pulls down that fourth dimension, and... c'mon, they so, totally are! read more

After a long day of shopping in Salem, my son was begging me to buy him a wand. We came across Wynott's Wands and decided to give it a go. The kind lady working in the store immediately connected with my frustrated son. She pointed out his red hair and connecting it to the Weasley family. She could immediately tell he is a Gryffindor, and showed him a wand that would perfectly match him. The staff was extremely kind and mystical, she seemed almost like an old friend. My two Suns cane in Sun the 12th of Jan to redeem their special certificates for apprentice wands that Santa had given them and Wynotts did not disappoint. Not only did it feel, smell, look, and act like diagonal alley, but the lovely woman working was Perfect in every respect. She gave them a personal tour of the different wands along with their strengths and weaknesses, made many magical references and quips, and even parted with a personal poetic line for each boy. Okay, so admittedly they're trying to capitalize a little bit on Harry Potter fame. The shop is very reminiscent of Ollivander's with shelves piled with askew wand boxes stamped with a very similar logo. But I have one of the Harry Potter registered trademark wands from the REAL* Ollivander's in Orlando and it is not not as nice as this wand. Mine is plastic, stamped with a Made in China notice and a Warner Bros. TM The one my son got from Wynott's is crafted from a single piece of wood and hand-painted in the USA. It was about $25, which if I recall was the same price as my plastic one. The wand he chose was a black wand with a white-painted handle. When checking out, the lovely woman who owns the store said it was the classic magician's wand, and that her late husband had been a show magician. IE, these people are not frauds. They are just riding on the back of the broomstick of Harry Potter fame to bring magic into the mainstream. Unlike many of the other shops in Salem, this was not cheesy, crammed with junk and cheap t-shirts. The complete focus is wands, both for play and show. *And by REAL Ollivander's I mean the one created in Universal Studios to completely capitalize on Harry Potter fame. read more

Located in the heart of Salem - where reality ceases to exist and you willingly succumb to the magic of this town - Wynott's invites you in with fantasy and warm greetings. My friend and I came to Salem for an escape from the city, and we were both intrigued by the allure of Wynott's. Upon walking in, it was like you had just entered a Harry Potter novel. The music was straight out of the movie, and from floor to ceiling, you're surrounded by wands of all shapes, sizes, colors, and personalities. The woman at the counter answered all of our questions in the most characteristic way possible, explaining the powers, the magic, and the details of each of the wands. It was so second nature to her that you couldn't help but appreciate the knowledge of the fantasy. I mean, I was so convinced that I bought a wand for myself! It was all black and shaped like a unicorn horn. As mentioned, she went into great detail about the wand, and it surprisingly fit my personality perfectly. Perhaps the wand does choose you?
