I shopped here on January 14th. The store is FILLED with Christmas clearance that is only 70% off. We're 3 weeks after the holiday, this stuff should be at 90% and maybe there would be room to have the Valentines Day crafts out rather than cutting your already short V-day window down by another 2 weeks. There were unopened stock boxes which I assume held the Valentines Day items placed haphazardly around the store. ... I had a generally good experience--decent selection, good price on custom framing but there was one issue. An item I was purchasing rung up at $39.99 but, on the shelf, it said $32.99. I didn't realize I'd been overcharged until viewing my receipt after. I went back in and asked a clerk in the aisle to scan it again and it was $39.99. When I mentioned the cost on the shelf, she said the price had gone up. So I did a little research and this is the law in Massachusetts. The price on the shelf prevails. I was shopping in the store and approached my the manage for an incident I was not involved with and felt incredibly disrespected. She was incredibly passive aggressive and could have handled the situation much better. I believe a store is only as good as it's people and I will not be returning here because of such a negative experience with the customer service. read more

I wanted to write this while my adrenaline was still pumping. Undoubtedly, an all around terrible customer service experience with the framing department on both ends of the transaction. I shouldn't have left it for framing. The rep was so impatient, argumentative and rude. I was treated as if I was bothering her with my requests to try different matting and framing options. I called in two weeks to see if it was ready for pickup as scheduled. Another rude response from the framer who informed me they were backed up and hadn't even gotten to my order yet. Today, I waited at the framing department. No one in sight. I called the store and asked if someone could meet me in framing; was left on hold. A woman shows up, shrugs her shoulders and says "what?" My order was framed incorrectly. She suggested I changed my mind because the price was too expensive. I replied, " I don't think so". She then informed me the price would be an additional $65. I explained I had requested the frame when I placed my order and she became rudely argumentative. I then picked up my frame, told her the customer service experience at Michaels had been horrible and started to leave, her response was "what, because I was in the ladies room?" I was in your store on 11/28 and there was a line to get into the store. The person that was outside was just letting people in as people left the store. There should have been another person making sure that social distancing was being practiced. It does no good to put markers on the floor if people are going to ignore them. I finally got into the store and made my purchases and got in line to pay. Again, there should have been a person making sure that the customers were standing 6 feet apart. This did not happen. I stayed the 6 feet apart from the person in front of me but there was a man in back of me that was very close to me that made me nervous. I wanted to say something to him but did not want to make a scene. This should not be happening. As an example, the day after Thanksgiving I went to Bath & Body Works at Northshore Mall in Peabody and there was a huge line to get into the store. There was a person outside the store who made sure the customers were standing 6 feet apart. This made me feel safe and showed they cared for their customers. You want to feel safe in these times of the pandemic. I can tell you right now that I am not going back to Michaels at Danvers until the pandemic is over as I did not feel safe in that store. Service here is inconsistent. Sometimes you get amazing service and sometimes you leave wanting to punch someone in the face. Their watercolors and other paints are now locked up so you have to track someone down to get them open. The manager or manager on duty has the key, which means once you track someone down they need to go track someone down to get it open. This means that any "quick" trip turns into a 20 minute ordeal of waiting around for someone to show up to the paints to unlock them for me. By the time someone gets to me I could have driven to Artist and Craftman and got my paint already. This store is clean and well organized, if you are a scrapbooker you'll be delighted by the selection. If you are a painter you'll be less excited. Prices are about the same as AC Moore's and they send out coupons once a week or so. This is another place I go to only if I have a coupon. Most of the time it's just not worth the aggravation. Terrible customer service here. The only employees that have been nice are the cashiers. Everyone else on the floor is no where to be found, or, they're not in the mood to help. Like today, an employee 'helping me' totally lied about not having black mat board for projects in the framing department. How is this possible that a company such as Michael's would run out of black? To boot, her attitude was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Customer service sucks. The teenagers who work here are very nice, but I feel bad for them because they obviously have not been trained very well on POS. The manager is not personable at all. The motto at this store seems to be"The Customer is Always Wrong." Just gonna grab stuff online from now on. read more

This was great experience! I needed some green RIT dye and some othe supplies for a Saint Patricks day project. The Manager on duty and another co-worker were the best. With their help I found everything I needed and didnt waste any time. I spent $21.53 after using a store coupon. Service should always be this excellent. read more

Susan, the manager of the framing department gave us a great experience. Walked in on the road to a wedding with a print we needed framed. A friend in Glosta thought Michael's had 'while you wait' service; not! Susan gently let us know that a custom framing job typically took two weeks. We immediately switched to an off the shelf frame and whatever mat they had on hand. Not really what we were looking for our gift for the print we were giving to the wedding couple, but we had time constraints! Susan made a silk purse out of a sow's ear-- with a gracious attitude and threw in all the discounts the system could muster. Very pleased not only with her service and calm, can-do attitude but creative eye as well. This retailer has a gem in her! Thank you Susan, Scot and Colene loved their special gift. read more

this is where I have been buying my crafts supplies and storage containers. their black Friday coupons were quite enticing with a 50% off "any one regular priced item", there were no restrictions indicated on the face of the coupon. tried using the coupon on an item and the coupon would not go through. per Customer Service, no coupons can be applied to an "every day value" item. I explained that the price of the item is ALWAYS ticketed this price and therefore this is their regular price. they refuse to apply the coupon. This is blatantly false advertising! I am now looking for a new local supplier read more
