I've had a very good experience at Toys n Things. It's a local hobby store with a community. Evan…read morehas always been really good about special ordering for me and following through. He offers a 10% discount if you follow him on Facebook for many items in store. He does have tables for Warhammer/War Machine/40K if you wanted to get together with some friends to play. Magic usually dominates the store during the week, but that's because Magic dominates the hobby community across much of the country. If he doesn't have something, he'll find it for you and he'll always be honest about it. The other great part is his Role playing community and the opportunity to "escape reality" for a little while (as Evan says). I've been playing in one session for a few years and we get to play in a very collaborative environment with unlimited possibility. These role playing sessions go on various times during the week. Check them out for a great, wholesome time. As this is store is community based there is a mixed bag of people who come here. Some older, some young. The more you go to events, the more effort Evan will put into the segment of business. A good local store with a community based environment; I'll be a customer for many years to come.

The store's got a lot of O scale (Lionel) trains and it's clearly the primary focus of the store, but there's also a couple aisles of HO scale and a couple displays of N scale. Look hard and maybe you can find some S or G scale. The back room also has a selection of scenery materials and model kits. With the overwhelming amount of merchandise, items are overflowing into the aisles. It can be hard to find things if you're looking for anything specific. If you're looking for the latest HO releases from Rapido, Atlas, or Athearn, this isn't the place. ...but if you want to get some inexpensive freight cars and track for your favorite kid (or yourself), you're bound to find something here. The staff has obviously been in the hobby for quite some time and should be able to answer your questions.

In the back they have scratchbuilding supplies, books, and paint. I found some stuff here (O gauge vinyl roadbed) that hasn't been made in years. In talking with the staff, they purchase collections of stuff so they don't always know what they will have. It is like walking into a used train show, and the prices are very fair. The staff are also extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I only wish I lived closer than 3 hours away!

He got my two-battery RC fixed within a few hours and gave me some great advice on a few other things, too. The shop is stocked with pretty much everything you need for your Traxxas, whether you're looking for replacement parts or wanting to upgrade your RC. I'm still pretty new to the RC hobby, so it's nice to have a place like this where you can ask questions and get some help. They also have an in-store mechanic, which is a big plus if you're not sure how to fix something yourself or just want to make sure your RC gets put back together the right way. Definitely worth checking out if you're into RC or just getting started. I'll be coming back!
