This physician is truly one of a kind, a true angel and a caring individual who is personable and helpful. Dr. Arun made the time today to see me on very short notice as a follow-up recommendation from Urgent Care to see Ophthalmology. Although Dr. Arun wasn't the on-call physician today, she saw me early. I am so grateful to her. Additionally, she alleviated my pain and suffering that I had after my Urgent Care visit. Dr. Arun patiently explained to me how the process works for my path going forward. She is such an exceptional doctor. I am very glad she accepted me today. Dr. Arun prescribed the correct Rx. Dr. Arun correctly diagnosed my condition. I implicitly trust her with one of the most vital organs - our eyes. What a brilliant ophthalmologist she is - and caring, too. Love this doctor. And last minute cancellations and no one is covering them. The ADA parking is out of code with the federal and state mandates. So if that is something you need, plan for extra time to find a reasonable parking spot, bring a driver or use a ride share. Parking is atrocious for anyone needing ADA parking. This used to be the premiere health care, or at least second. And they are consistently slipping from that. The level of customer service at the front desk, the amount of time the doctors actually spend with you, makes me wonder if they have switched to a for profit healthcare system. Not horrible. Better than healthcare say in Alabama. But. There is a lot of room for improvement.

Happily, a cancellation opened up a spot for me much sooner. I hurriedly filled out the requisite forms that were emailed to me, very convenient. The office is located in a small medical/business building that, fortunately, has quite a few handicapped parking spots. I was early, lunch time for the office, but was let in to wait which was very nice. I can't say enough of how lovely everyone in this office is. Very nice, accommodating and friendly. I felt very comfortable. I'm also very hopeful Dr. Rivera can help me with my health issues. For now, I am waiting on the results of a blood panel which may determine my diagnosis. Either way, there seems to be options on helping me feel better. Did I mention how wonderful everyone in this office is?

On all occasions that I have been to see Dr Mark Shalauta he has been willing to spend adequate time to explain information to me, listen to any concerns and provide solutions and answers to my questions. He really listens to what you have to say which is a big positive in my book in regards to a doctor. I am so impressed with him that I have changed my daughter over to him from her pediatrician as I was not feeling a connection with that doctor. Please for the sake and preservation of your vision go elsewhere. The Shiely Eye Institute saved what was left of my vision following the horrific, botched Vitrectomy performed by. Dr Gariano. the details are many, so I won't get into the mud with this post. however, PLEASE do not, under any circumstance, agree to be seen by this clinician. There are a good handful of Retina specialists in the San Diego area. Gariano is not one of them and had I done my due diligence, I would still be driving today. And no, I'm not super old. Lastly. this portion relates more to Scripps itself. 99,9% of their clinicians are fantastic. I felt well cared for. Unfortunately, Scripps was made aware of the situation and chose to do absolutely nothing other than protect their Doctor. Not surprising. what was surprising however, was any contact with Gariano or his staff stopped completely, once I alerted Scripps administration of the devastating situation. No more follow-ups. Silence. Left hanging with a damage retina and the need for a corneal transplant. Not so much as a simple I'm sorry from Gariano, but of course, any apology would be considered an admission of potential malpractice I guess. I find their online portal a very helpful tool for communication. It may be better (and faster) than relaying or leaving a message. Both staff and management has provided expedited resolution for treatment and pharmaceutical situations when I have used the Portal. They have also directly contacted me when I needed assistance. Dr Reddy and her staff are a great team. I'm thankful for their professionalism and commitment to their patients.
