It was pretty easy to get an appointment where so many specialists have several months of waiting for an opening. Very misleading and didn't following up with a solution. He looked at my nails and the bruise on my abdomen that I was concerned of internal issues and he directed me to a dermatologist. He said he would stay in contact with that doctor and I to resolve this but he didn't. No tested were suggested or done just another charge to have him call. The bruise has to appear from something internal, it has been there for over a year now. He didn't even suggest blood that would have been direction to help on my on person visit. It's clear it's all about the money. I left with no resolution nor advice, other than to see a skin doctor. Why it appeared in the first place should be the first concern. read more

I had 1 office visit and 1 follow up phone call and both were awful. I found him to be dismissive of most of what I was saying, and of my concerns. He had absolutely no ability to connect with me as a person or as a patient. He viewed me as a way to make money ( a treatment he said he must provide but no other doctor confirmed that) and otherwise he wasn't interested in providing constructive advice. He told me I am not dying of anything ( I never said or thought I was) and losing weight ought to take care of the rest. I agree losing weight was beneficial, but by no means the cure all he presented it as. He repeated the same refrain several times: the more you look into xyz, the more you find. I told him I have a right to know what was causing my symptoms, and understanding my body, but he didn't care. He is quite impressed with himself, but good training doesn't make a good doctor. I'm 71 years old. Obviously, throughout my life, I have visited a variety of physicians. Most are gems. Others have not ranked high on the list of character, expertise or skill. Dr. Ami Ben-Artzi falls in the GEM category. Not only is he knowledgeable, he is caring and communicative. He looks at you while talking to you and about you. He is a highly qualified rheumatologist. I have only had the pleasure of meeting with Dr Ben Artzi two times. However, each visit has been pleasurable. He is an excellent diagnostician. I cannot recommend this doctor. After spending over an hour discussing with his front desk that I had reached the out of pocket max for the year on my Blue Cross plan (I even showed them on the official iPhone app), it wasn't enough proof for them and I still had to pay the co-pay up front. Every single other doctor I've seen (in both the Cedars network and UCLA) has taken my word when I told them this and believed me, but this is the only group who did not and wanted additional proof. Turns out I was right like I promised them, I had to then call their billing department and hunt down a refund and have a check sent in the mail. The billing department apologized for their handling of this, but I'm very unimpressed. Definitely not a good first impression for a doctor (the Dr. himself agreed with the front desk at the time not to trust me either). Every other top tier physician I've seen in Beverly Hills, etc took my word for it and therefore no refunds had to be tracked down. As for the care itself.. he pretty much dismissed my condition because although it was autoimmune, it was only localized to a certain part of my body and not a "systemic" condition in the full body.. so all of this was really a waste of time anyways. I'll be seeking a second opinion and hope the next doctor runs a smoother operation. read more

I had been living with significant pain for many years before seeing Dr. Ben-Artzi and not getting satisfactory answers from other doctors. When I went to Dr Ben-Artzi he immediately diagnosed psoriatic arthritis of the spine and followed up his diagnosis with plenty of tests and studied my entire health history in great detail. Without reservation, the BEST. It's never a rushed appointment, explains everything in great detail, including the pros and cons of all the different treatment options and the medications. He is incredibly knowledgeable, has a great support nursing staff. If there is anything that is being done for you that involves a needle make sure it's Vicki, she is amazing, and when you really need that shot for joint pain, Dr. Ben-Artzi is unreal as well. He first patiently numbs the area, actually waits until the local anesthesia takes effect before he proceeds with the actual shot into knee, hip, shoulder, etc. I've had my condition for 40 years, have seen many doctors, rheumatologists, none have taken the time or the care to do the best for you as he does. Not every medication or treatment works the same for everyone, but he keeps trying different approaches to find the best results for you. If you have arthritic or rheumatoid issues, this is your Doctor. Also, his background and credentials are very strong.
