I've finally switched doctors from Dr. Christine Wang at Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley. I don't even…read moreknow where to start with how terrible she is with her "bedside manner" and how annoyed she appears to be when you question her. She will message you with the results of a test with a very vague message that "your scan came back ok". Nothing more. Then when you respond to the message asking for clarification, you are told you need to book an appointment with her. Not even when you are asking a basic question. I call the office and speak to the nurse and am told I need to schedule an appointment with the doctor. This has been the case many, many times with this doctor. Then you get charged for another doctor visit when you were already charged for a doctor visit for the initial appointment. This drives up the cost of insurance and forces me to have to pay for another visit when all I needed was clarification for the test result. Sending a message that the test came back "okay" does not tell me details of my situation. When I booked the appointment recently to review a CT scan result that "came back okay", we did so on a video call and she literally rolled her eyes and actually let out a laugh at me when I questioned things. I didn't learn anything more from that call and she could have simply answered the same info in the message portal. Instead, she cost me more money for this additional visit that left me aggravated at how she treated me. At annual physicals, other Scripps doctors have sent me for my annual bloodwork before my physical so they can address the results at my physical appointment. Dr. Wang refuses to do that. Instead, she will order the lab work to be done after the visit. Once I do that and get the results back, she will message me with the results. If I have further questions, then I am required to make another appointment with her to discuss. This happens all the time. If she would have the bloodwork done prior to my physical like other doctors have done, then I wouldn't have to pay extra to make another appointment to discuss the results and ask my questions. Recently, I was planning to go on a cruise and reached out to her office to have a specific seasick medication prescribed to me. After several calls to the office requesting to submit the prescription to the pharmacy (as well as the pharmacy calling the doctor's office several times to assist in getting the prescription), they submitted the prescription but it was for the wrong form. I very specifically requested the pill form and NOT the patch form. They called in for a patch. Both the pharmacy and I made repeated calls to the doctor's office to get it called in for the pill form. (The pill form does not have some of the side effects that the patch has which is why I wanted the pill form. The pill form is a "compound" drug and needs to be made up at a special pharmacy and is not readily made.) So I called back the office (this was after 4 days of back and forth to get this corrected) and was told that Dr. Wang doesn't prescribe compound drugs and would not be able to prescribe it for me. That I would need to go to make an appointment with a doctor who can prescribe compound drugs. I told them that this is ridiculous since she is a doctor who should be able to prescribe a medication for seasick pills. We live in San Diego and I imagine with the Navy presence and ocean waters/boating/fishing industry, there must be plenty of people needing to be prescribed seasick medicine. They told me that they were sorry but Dr. Wang cannot prescribe compound medicines and didn't know how to prescribe this particular medicine! I responded that she is licensed to prescribe medicine and that she should be able to consult with others within Scripps or the pharmacy to be able to do so. I was very upset since I had run out of time to get in to see a doctor who could prescribe this medicine. So I called the pharmacy and thanked them for all the calls back and forth they'd made to Dr. Wang's office to try and help with this prescription but I was going to have to go on my cruise without it. The pharmacy called me the next day and told me that Dr. Wang's office had called in the compound prescription for this medicine in pill form! Dr. Wang's office NEVER called to tell me that. Somehow Dr. Wang figured out how to prescribe this basic medicine but never called me to apologize for all the back and forth issues or to even let me know that she could call it in afterall. They knew how upset I was but never called to straighten it out. I'm guessing they would have required that I make an appointment for her to talk to me like she has for everything else. Dr. Wang has a horrible bedside manner! She doesn't like when you question her or ask for details. She's annoyed with you questioning her. She should be encouraging you to ask questions about your healthcare instead of treating you like you are annoying her! I'm shocked that Scripps keeps her on staff.

The woman, Amonda, said she could do a portion based on my choice. I asked if I could wait and she recommended against it but said it was my choice. I said I guess I will do the upper but I don't understand how you don't have the full orders when scheduling had them. They stated the 2 parts and told me to expect to be there for 90 mins. Amonda then interrupted and put her hand up in front of my face and said let's be clear this is your doctor's mistake. It is his mistake if the orders weren't put in correctly but it is also scheduling as well as imaging. She then rolled her eyes at me. Now I m angry and probably not the most pleasant, but take some responsibility and watch how you speak to people, especially after a mistake like this. At that point I requested another person do the test otherwise I would reschedule. She said she was the only one so I asked for her supervisors info and she said she would let her supervisor know and I said no I want her info as I do t trust this to get passed along. She had to go to the front to get a card and her supervisors info. I asked her to write her name on the back and she stated it. I said I asked for you to write it down and she rolled her eyes again and said well I was, then I interrupted her and told her to stop as she wasn't helping things. I am so unbelievably disappointed with how this woman treated me, and even more disappointed with how this fell through the cracks. You are wasting peoples time and interfering with their care and lives by not having better follow through! I am hoping this was just a fluke but I have been seeing more and more like this happening with Scripps, and it is bothersome. It is unfortunate because they have some maxing doctors. I will be having this and future testing done outside Scripps from this point on.

I have felt unwell for years and have always been told from my primary MD it is my age, weight, or diet. Dr Shikhman was thorough with my exam, ordered testing and gave me a DIAGNOSIS and a treatment plan that is helping me. It is not an overnight fix for me. Yes, you will be charged for a no-show visit. He is a busy man who books months out. Someone else would have gladly taken your spot! I transferred my rheumatology care to Dr. Megan Lynch in December 2025 after moving from Texas, where I had an excellent rheumatologist for more than six years. Unfortunately, from my very first appointment with Dr. Lynch, I have felt uncomfortable, rushed, and repeatedly doubted as a patient. During my first visit, I expressed that I did not want a COVID booster and was made to feel as though I were anti-vaccine. I found that particularly offensive given that the majority of my career has been in public health. It set the tone for what has continued to feel like a dismissive relationship with my provider. Every appointment since has felt rushed. I have never had another healthcare provider make me feel as though I am doing something wrong simply by asking questions, discussing my care, or trying to manage a chronic illness. Unfortunately, that same experience extends to the office staff, who I have consistently found to be rude and unhelpful. The entire office could benefit significantly from improving its bedside manner and the way patients are spoken to and supported. I have also had unnecessary difficulty getting prescriptions refilled. One of my medications appears to have been documented as being prescribed for something other than my chronic illness, which is inaccurate and has created additional problems. A review of my medical records and history from my previous physicians would have clarified why I take this medication. Managing a chronic illness is already difficult enough without feeling uncomfortable contacting your own physician's office or feeling as though you have to defend yourself at every appointment. Overall, receiving care here has been an incredibly frustrating and painful experience, and I am disappointed that after years of having a collaborative relationship with my previous rheumatologist, this has been my experience since transferring care.
