Day-of-treatment cancellation due to a "required" mammogram that was never disclosed. I explained this to Dr. Dominguez and asked to proceed with treatment that day, agreeing to complete the mammogram before my next treatment four months later. He refused. I had already paid for labs (which had to be repeated due to lab error). This was a failure of communication and patient-centered care. I've always had a high regard for Dr. Dominguez, but when the the rubber hit the road during COVID19 he opted out. I thought I had bronchitis and called for an appointment but was only able to speak to an answering service, later I was prescribed some meds. After the regime of meds were finished I was still not well and called again 8 hours later I was told to "go to urgent care because I might have COVID19" Incidentally prior to the return call I had already gone to Urgent Care because Dr. Dominguez was AWOL, to get attention for a bad cut needing stitches. The Urgent car Doctor said I probably have had pneumonia & ordered a chest X-ray. I'm very sad to write this review because i've always liked and respected Dr Dominguez, however it appears he's more interested in his health over the health of others, which isn't a bad thing if he had not chosen to go into medical practice. I saw great reviews and I was looking for a new doctor in the SD area so I thought I'd give Dr. D a try. First thing I noticed when I stepped inside his office was all the Asian-inspired decorations with the bambus and the relaxing sounds of water fountain trickling in the room and all the pretty chairs and sofas. Everything was so just so nice and relaxing, I thought i was walking into a spa. Talk about upscale! I'm used to getting charged a $20 co-pay at the most (my family doctor back in OC actually doesn't charge me any co-pay) so when I was charged $40 for a checkup I was a bit taken aback. Also, when you're a first time patient you're asked to fill out all their forms. I was also surprised when they asked me to fill out a form saying that if I were to make an appointment, then cancel I would be charged $20-25 as the cancellation fee. I thought this was a bit much. Call me picky, but I guess a part of me was hoping that since they charged me so much, I could get my blood test here as well. But they don't offer that here so I was transferred to another location for that. Maybe if you're making bank and really need a fancy doctor in an upscale location to see, this is the place for you. But for people like me, as long as the doctor is someone reliable and knowledgeable no amount of fancy decorations and absurd charges will reel me in. Also, they charge you for parking too! Don't get me wrong, he was really nice. I just think is more of a place for the super wealthy. read more

He is upbeat, pleasant, healthy (I want Physicians who practices what they preach). He is detailed oriented and manages several on-going health issues. He is an expert on Hormone Therapy for Women, especially menopausal. He is really into what he does and seems to enjoy each encounter. I see the way he talks to other patients, with respect, encouragement, positive words and concern. He provides quality on a consistent basis. I am hesitant to give a review because I want him all to myself, my family and friends. He is the rock star of Primary Care. He took my health and hormones from a 6/10 to a solid 10. Other. I agree it can be hit or miss with telephone people. I don't leave messages with answering service, I call back when they are in the office. Parking is costly. He is always there to help me relax and diagnose the problem correctly. He is very talented, friendly and has a very good sense of humor. I've always found him to be very accessible; seriously, how many docs these days can you reach personally by email or txt. "Dr. Ryan" as my kids and I call him, is awesome. He's easy to get in to see, he answers my emails promptly and his office in La Jolla is really lovely. His office staff is pleasant and helpful. He reminds me of the old fashioned family doctor (even though he's young) where he takes the time to get to know you. I was given Dr. Dominguez name as a referral. I called to make an appointment and ask a couple of questions since I was a new patient. The person that answered the phone said that the doctor was out to lunch until 2pm. This office is by far thee worst. I've never in my life encountered a doctors office such as this one. The front end manager Cat has major OCD issues, you always hear her talking bad about some patient encounter. The doctor is good at what he does but definitely not approachable, he will smile in the patients face but turn around and grunt or roll his eyes. They put in lab orders for things the pt doesn't even need and the patients get these outrageous bills. Dr. Dominguez came highly recommended from my OB/GYN and I couldn't be happier with him. He is so easily accessible and I really appreciate his casual unassuming style. He makes me feel at ease with his jokes and comfortable office, but I am always surprised by how thorough he is and his caring follow up is amazing. I have been able to email him with questions and he is always quick to respond, not many doctors I've gone too even provide that as an option. He is the only Doctor who took my low testosterone seriously and offered me a great option with BioTE hormone pellet therapy. I didn't want to start taking any of the synthetic drugs. Before Dr. D treated me I was having such a tough time gaining and keeping muscle, I was sluggish, seemed to tired, especially late in the day, and had night sweats. After the Bio-identical hormone treatment I look and feel so different! I have never felt better in my life and I love that he was up to speed on the latest treatment for women with hormonal issues. I still laugh that my OB/GYN referred me to him because she was not able to help me, yet Dr. D knew just the thing I needed. Dr. Domingues is fine - no issues with him. He is a fantastic doctor. My issues are with the front office and the people that give an appointment. Why is it so hard to get an appointment for a sick visit? How can I anticipate that I will fall sick next week, so I can get an appointment "ahead of time" and not "last minute". Same day appointments for sickness is out of question, even 24 hours ahead it seems impossible? If we have to use the Urgent Care facility paying a co-pay of $20 every time why do I need a GP? The only times that I have visited the doctor 's office in the past few years have been for my yearly health checkup and an occasional not so urgent visits that I have been able to secure a few days ahead of time! read more
