I thought I was eating well, she showed me the proper way to eat. Like everything else, if you follow directions and do the work, you will see results and I have. I have learned so much about my own particular health, Dr. Martinez concentrates on the individual rather than the "average," greatly appreciated. The office is well run and organized, I have phone appointments rather than driving, saves us all much time. She is the best.

At my first visit Dr. Martinez talked through all my crazy symptoms for 2 hours! I was a mess. But after changing my diet dramatically, discovering some major vitamin deficiencies and hormone imbalances, adding supplements and having someone care about my wellness instead of just fixing symptoms, I am slowly getting better. I sleep soundly most nights, my appetite has retuned, I can make it through the day with energy, and my mood is lifting. I actually WANT to do things again. It has not been an easy road. Detoxing was awful. And Dr. Martinez and the the staff at Nourish, Mimi, Faith, Dr. Gelman, and Murray the office dog all helped me through. Even just giving me a hug when I didn't think I'd ever get better. I can't say enough for Dr. Martinez and everyone at Nourish! You not only helped me get my life and vitality and joy back, but I'm learning to live a much healthier life to stay that way!! I can never thank you enough.

I'm a patient of Dr. Elena Dembo-Smeatton since I moved to San Diego…read more I'm very pleased with medical service, with how any questions what I had was answered by office staff, or how timely message was reached Dr Elena Dembo and was return via phone or in person Aryssa ( front office) was very attentive and always will return a phone call and will make special effort to give time of appointments convenient for patient. Vaccination, blood test was always given on time and done on very high professional level My meds was always refilled on time. I changed my insurance , but not my primary provider. You don't change a very good service, even if now it will take little longer to drive. Thank you Dr Elena Dembo-Smeaton and all staff for your wonderful service

I cannot believe the things that Dr. Dembo-Smeaton said to me at my appointment today. I have never…read moreheard so many dangerously outdated comments and recommendations. 1. Upon hearing I have two little kids, she said, "Oh, so who helps you with the children?" When I replied, "My husband - he's great and has a flexible job so he takes on a lot of the kid stuff." She replied (and this is pretty darn close to verbatim): "Oh yes, it used to be that women could stay home and take care of the children. But not anymore. That was better." [This was especially confusing to me since Dr. Dembo-Smeaton obviously works, so I'm not sure why her bias against working mothers?!?!) 2. I asked for a referral to pelvic floor therapy since after my second delivery I had had the common issues with leaking while sneezing/laughing. She said I shouldn't be running at all and I should stop lifting heavy weights (I do the Body Pump class at the Y - not exactly Olympic bodybuilding). I told her that these are things I love doing, and I want to get treatment so that I can go back to enjoying doing the things I love without worry about peeing my pants. She looked at me condescendingly and said, "Well the important thing is that you have two beautiful children." And I replied, "Of course I appreciate my kids, but I also want to not have pelvic floor issues, and I want to run and lift weights ..." and she just doubled down and said, "Well after children things change and the important thing is that you have your family." or something like that. I was completely aghast. Are women not allowed to have a life and hobbies and be active post-delivery?! I couldn't believe how she just blew off my desire to exercise with a simple command to stop running and just appreciate my kids. 3. I asked for an updated birth control prescription now that I had finished breastfeeding. She asked what forms I'd used in the past and I said the ring and the pill, then she immediately said, "OK I will get you Nuvaring." When I replied that I wanted the pill instead, she said, "But the Nuvaring is so much easier!" Not sure why she needed to argue with me over MY preferred method of bc. 4. We were discussing losing weight and she advised, "if you want to lose weight you really need to just focus on cardio." This is such outdated and WRONG advice - it's well established that weight training is healthy and good for weight loss and good for preserving bone density, among other benefits.

"YOU PROBABLY HAVE HORMONAL ACNE"... everyone would tell me. But what do I do about it!? I've tried…read moreeverything, I told them. I was 28 years old with a chin full of huge cystic acne red pimples. All my friends considered me the healthiest eater and would workout every day, so none of this made sense to me. I would wake up extra early to cover up everything in makeup. Inside I was depressed and sad and would cry every few weeks when more pimples would show up. I would say no to social events because I didn't want to be seen like that. I was throwing away money on new natural remedies I found on youtube. Nothing was working. Finally, I was connected to Nourish Medical Center and rescued by the incredible Dr. DJ Sims. SHE CHANGED MY LIFE. After about 4-6 months (I had some serious hormonal imbalances), I NO LONGER HAVE ACNE. MY FACE IS SMOOTH AND CLEAR! I remember reading other people's reviews of them saying they no longer have acne and wishing and praying I would get to the day where I could write the same review. And here I am. It will be all be okay, I promise. You will get there too! :) First of all, you don't need to live in San Diego to see these doctors. They do zoom which is awesome! Nourish Medical is a dream doctor's office. The staff is so sweet and you always feel taken care of. Now let me talk about Dr. DJ Sims - the best naturopathic acne doctor ever. She is so friendly, fun, extremely knowledgable and so easy to talk to. She makes you feel heard (our appointments are usually 1 hour, once a month) unlike regular doctors who push you out the door after 3 minutes. She gets down to the ROOT of the issues you're having and prescribes special herbs & supplements to tackle those specific issues. She gave me an amazing hormonal urine test (called the Dutch test) which told us my hormones were out of whack. She also TEACHES you why these things are happening to your body (for me, birth control and years of antibiotics were a leading cause) and what the specific herbs will do to help my body. I have learned SO MUCH about the body and feel like I have the tools to treat myself in the future if I ever have flare ups. Yes, naturopathic doctors are expensive. AND YES THEY ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY. If you feel hopeless, out of options and not yourself anymore... do yourself a favor and call the office. My happiness and confidence are back and I finally feel like myself again! THANK YOU TO NOURISH MEDICAL :)

I was referred to Nourish by a friend. I browsed their web site and read over the 'Providers and…read moreStaff' bios to try and decide which doctor I wanted to see based on my needs. Honestly, it was a bit of a shot in the dark. Prices of visits vary depending on who you see. I called to make an appointment, and was disappointed to find out it was about 3 months before I could get in. I was called and offered an earlier appointment when someone else cancelled, but I couldn't make it, so I stuck with my original appointment time. The front desk staff were always pleasant when I interacted with them. You have the option to visit in person or through an on-line virtual video visit. For my first visit, I decided to go in-person as I wanted to make a connection with the doctor and for her to really "see me". The office is very clean, modern and upscale, although not 'cold and clinical'. The decor colors are welcoming and serene. There is a waiting room and then you're called back to your doctor's office and you walk through a common area with a large table. There's a small restroom and a phlebotomist's room. I left after my first visit (which was about an hour) with my head spinning slightly as I felt like I had some 'homework' to do before my next visit. This included downloading an app, through which to order supplements and ordering said supplements. Organizing getting bloodwork (which, after some research turned out to be less expensive through a 3rd party lab, not through the Nourish phlebotomist), ordering a prescription through a compound pharmacy and purchasing and utilizing a continual glucose monitor through another retail outlet. While wearing the monitor, I had to enter any food consumed and any exercise activity into the glucose monitor app. Communication with your Nourish doctor is done through a 'patient portal'. Any messages I sent were usually answered within a couple of days. I also called the front desk a few times with questions. For my second visit, I chose the convenience of meeting virtually on-line to save the commute time. This visit was about 40 minutes, done through the portal. The doctor I chose was professional, knowledgeable and pleasant, but not particularly warm and bubbly. She didn't smile much. Not a lot of pleasantries like , 'How was your summer?' or 'How was the drive here?' or whatever, just strictly down to business. That's OK, but I like a little bit more of a friendlier/interactive bedside manner. Between two visits, some bloodwork (outside my provider network), several supplements, a compound pharmacy prescription and mail delivery, plus purchasing a glucose monitor, (also out of my provider network), I spent just over $1,100. After my second visit, it kind of occurred to me that the operation relies a little heavily on the recommendation of supplements which you order through a portal they suggest -- obviously they make a commission. (I was told by the front desk to 'Not order through Amazon'!) I didn't feel like the first set of supplements had done much, so I decided not to order the second set that was suggested. I felt I was given very minimal nutritional advice. I'm glad I gave Nourish and naturopathy a try and I was pleased that I was tested/monitored for things that my regular medical provider wouldn't bother testing for, however, ultimately I didn't feel like it solved much for me. There is free on-site parking.

Luckily, I was able to switch over to Dr. Koretoff's panel. Dr. Koretoff is one of the best providers I've ever had. He truly cares about his patients and listens to them. He's responsive to my questions and is willing to put in the time and effort to get the referrals or medications in that I need. I've had some serious health issues and know my body. I appreciate that Dr. Koretoff respects my concerns and refers me to a specialist when my medical history and/or symptoms warrant doing so. It's clear that he wants his patients to be healthy and have the best quality of life possible (even if it means having to engage in a prior authorization fight with an insurance company to do so. Extremely disappointing experience. This practice demonstrated a shocking lack of professionalism,…read morecompetence, and basic patient care. I originally booked with the highly recommended Dr. O'Brian, who left the practice a week before my appointment. After my experience, I can't help but wonder why. I was reassigned to Dr. Gupta, who disclosed having only two years of experience as a physician. After being instructed to arrive 30 minutes early, I waited another 45 minutes to be seen. Her consultation felt more like a textbook lecture than meaningful expertise in perimenopause. The real failure came afterward. When my medication was backordered, I took it upon myself to locate another pharmacy. The medical assistant responded to my prescription transfer request with attitude, then stopped responding altogether. To make matters worse, the clinical coordinator called to accuse me of inappropriate behavior without fully reviewing my requests, then dismissed my medication concerns as neither urgent nor a priority. Absolutely appalling patient service. Women navigating perimenopause deserve competent, compassionate, and responsive care. Instead, I encountered an inexperienced physician, an unprofessional medical assistant, and a confrontational clinical coordinator. The most disturbing part? The complete lack of accountability and disregard for patient care. I cannot recommend Dr. Gupta or her staff. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. I sincerely hope to find Dr. O'Brian at her new practice.
