I had another primary care doctor ("Dr. X") for over a decade. Dr. X is still in practice and has an excellent reputation (highly rated on Yelp too!). Still, I was dissatisfied enough to ask friends to refer me to another doctor. The reason was that when I went to see Dr. X, I sat in big waiting room, waited for a long time, and then was ushered into one of about a dozen examination rooms where I waited some more. Dr. X and I were just ships passing in the night. I was referred to Dr. Bressler, and at the time I think I was lucky that he accepted me as a patient. What a contrast in the way that he practices medicine. After any examination he meets with you in his office, answers all of your questions and offers advice. During that time you never feel that his attention is devoted to anything but you. In helping you consider decisions he will explain the issue without talking down to you. In our consultations he has referred me to latest published study on a particular treatment. He is extremely personable, jokes a bit, and shows true interest and empathy. The "staff" are themselves are a team of medical professionals who the most helpful and friendly that I have ever encountered. If I need something I can email his office and get a quick response. This is by far the best experience I have had with any physician and I wouldn't change for anything. One more thing, on your first visit say hello to Dr. B's dog, Izzy. read more

I will be fair with this review, since I did not use their service. I left a message on their VM, and was called back with in 30 minutes. The receptionist informed me that the Doctor does not except insurance of any kind. She informed me that I would have to pay for my services in full, before leaving the practice, and it would be my responsibility to submit all charges to the insurance company for reimbursement. Uhh no thanks, that sounds like a headache waiting to happen... That's a shame he had good reviews, but something does not add up here. read more

I first knew of Dr. Bressler in the mid-1990's as an Agreed Upon Medical Examiner (AME) for complex and usually litigated Workers' Compensation cases. I received such good feedback from our employees (even those for whom Dr. B was a defense expert) that I went to him as a personal physician when an issue arose around 2007. He is now my "go to" doc. Dr. Bressler has an amazing ability to provide excellent medical care and advice with genuine caring and Humanity. Among his Harvard peers, I suspect he is indeed a rare and gifted healer, not just another "pill pusher." I hardly ever have the time to sit down and write a review anymore, but Dr. Bressler and his team are more than deserving of the effort! I would classify myself as a high-maintanence patient- mostly because I have anxiety on top of the physical issues I am trying to work through, which can make dealing with doctors and the healthcare system a very frustrating experience. At times, it is hard to decipher what needs attention and what doesn't, as everything seems like an emergency when you are in a state of panic or are overstressed. I began seeing Dr. B in the beginning of this year after searching for an MD who also practices natural medicine. Though I wish all ailments could be healed naturally, I do also take comfort in the fact that my doctor can utilize both sides of the spectrum. And he balances this extremely well. The last few months have been challenging, and it isn't quite over yet, but Dr. B, his nurses and staff have been absolutely amazing. I'm not sure where I'd be without the constant check-ins and support. They understand that peace of mind is almost as valuable as the medical care itself, and reassure me when I feel like I'm just plain going crazy ;) Dr. Bressler is knowledgable, kind and compassionate, and while health issues can be extremely scary, I'm comforted by the fact that I have a great doctor overseeing everything. read more

I've seen Dr Bressler off and on for five years or so, and he has always seemed moody--one time friendly and enthusiastic, the next time indifferent, even vaguely hostile. Now, so far as I can tell, his practice is in serious deterioration. He no longer accepts my PPO insurance so that I paid $200 to see him and another $100 for some conventional words he spoke to me. His office is scaled down with one person at the desk and one or two technicians instead of nurses. It is very difficult to reach his office by phone. My recent visit was disheartening. So far as I can discern, Dr Bressler has lost interest in doctoring, but not in money. I cannot recommend him. read more

We have been coming to Dr. Bressler for over 20 years. From the very beginning, we knew that we belonged! Dr. B (as he likes to be called) and all of the wonderful staff that have worked there throughout the years, make you feel cared for and respected. Beginning with respecting your time by scheduling appointments and keeping them! Also, when you call in, you will always get a call back or get your issue handled the same day. If you need to be seen, they will see you the same day or next day. If you are a new patient, you will wait a few weeks for an appointment, but after that, you will be seen in a timely manner. I have had a lot of medical problems throughout my life, and seen many doctors over the years, but Dr. B and his staff are the cream of the crop! The level of care that you receive is unmatched. Do you value your life? Do you value your family member lives? If so, I highly recommend you go to San Diego's top ranked primary care physician, Dr. Daniel Bressler (aka Dr B!). Hmmh, some reasons you may not follow this advice: - "I think my current doctor is fine". - "I want a doctor that accepts my insurance plan". - "I want a doctor close to my home". These are all acceptable reasons but call into question the value one places on their life and that of family members. I recommend at least one visit to Dr. B's office to double check whether you are getting the finest in primary care. It begins with Dr B's staff, most of whom have been team members for many years. Jamie, Katie and Stephanie provide the finest customer service I've received from any business. And then there is Harvard Medical School trained Dr. B who places a priority on natural ways to health, vice just prescribing pills. Today I completed my annual physical examination. Upon leaving Dr. B's office I am 100% convinced there is no possible way I could receive better medical service or advice! It's a great feeling knowing I'm doing the best thing for my life. Sure, there's one added step. Dr. B's office provides me a postage-paid envelope and forms to be mailed to my insurance company for reimbursement. I wanted to add five more stars myself, as they are VERY well deserved. I'll echo everything that has already been mentioned, and I can personally testify that most, if not all, of these reviews are 'spot on.' I have been seeing Doc B for about six years. He's not my primary care doc only because his office does not accept HMOs and now I've come to learn PPOs either. I was able to get in as a patient though a different avenue, which was just by chance. (Thankfully!!!) Through my circle of family and friends, I actually refer to Doctor Bressler as my "real doctor" even though I have a PCP though another company. If you have ever been with the big carriers and then stumble across a physician with the knowledge and people skills that Doctor Bressler demonstrates, you'd get what I mean when I describe him as my "real Doc." This is less of a review, but I suppose more of a a few lines of gratitude. I have never trusted or felt has comfortable with any other physician- period. My husband & I, including my mother have been a patient of Dr. Bressler for 10 years. All I can say is I wish everyone could have a doctor and nursing staff like Dr. B. He is knowledgeable, caring and goes far beyond most doctors. We had a major health scare with my mother last year and Dr. B & staff held our hands through months of stress. Not once did we feel neglected or like we didn't matter. We received weekly calls, sometimes every other day from the nurses & Dr. B just to check on ALL of us. And I am so happy to have found him. He is a skilled, thoughtful and caring doctor. He listens well and spends plenty of time with me during appointments. His combined, what I call "western and holistic" approach, has been perfect for me and my lifestyle. I know I am responsible for my health and he is my guide in that effort. Nutrition, stress management, spiritual and sexual well being, exercise, family dynamics and health history... We discuss it all, along with its impact on my ability to lead a happy, healthy--and hopefully--long life. We have even discussed "end of life" ideas. He is special. And, as an added bonus, the office is really well run. His staff are efficient, cheerful and responsive. I never feel the "assembly line" vibe one finds in places where the doc is being run ragged by the scheduling. In fact, I don't think I have ever had to wait more than a minute or two to be seen for an appointment. He, and his staff are also easy to reach by email. If you are OK with his direct pay arrangement (he is always out of network; you submit his bills to insurance, but all his referrals are to "in network" providers) this is the Doc. Dr. B and his staff are nice, welcoming and easy to talk to. Izzy (the office dog) is a great reason to set up a visit to Dr. B's! It's easy to make appointments and there's parking on P2 in the parking garage. Plus, they validate parking. A lot of Doctors no longer go through insurance and it hasn't been a problem for me (especially at this office). At Dr. B's they give you the receipt and an addressed/stamped envelope to your insurance. You just have to remember to mail out your paperwork.
