Came in with a friend to do some shopping. She got a text they were giving away 1 roll of gift wrapping paper with purchase. We roamed around then got the roll at checkout. Love this chain. They usually have a lot of gift options during the holidays. Seemed picked over while we were there. The Christmas tree ornaments are unique. This whole corporation is a bit shady. I went in yesterday to pick up a filter cup, and noticed all the lids were broken or chipped. There were no undamaged items. I brought it up front with some other things I was buying and asked what backstock was available. The cashier checked the inventory and chuckled that there was "-4" in inventory. (Unprofessional, I also don't care how gortched up your inventory might be.) I then requested a discount. He offered 10%. Then 15. I asked for 20. He refused, noting that the functionality of the cup isn't compromised. (Yes it is--the lid was broken.) I work in a CGMP certified facility, and need a mug with lid for work. Letting my emotions get the best of me, I naively paid $5.09 for a broken cup. And left behind 15 more broken cups on the shelf. Damaged items should be pulled from the shelves and/or put on clearance. Not discounted 10%. That's just an insult. Today I was looking up their customer service line to talk to someone more about this. If you do a Google search, there's a string of employee mistreatment complaints, 54 BBB complaints, and entire websites devoted to airing this company's misgivings. They always kind of felt like a skeevy big box store, but now I have more insight into their disappointing business practices. read more

Came here to check out a couple items that I found on the World Market website and was incredibly impressed by this store. First of all, it's huge. I've been to a couple other World Market's around the country and they were much smaller than this one. And the merchandise is incredibly diverse, interesting, and stylish - everything from furniture and decor, to food and wine, to kitchen items. The prices seemed to be reasonable and the staff offered to help me find what I was looking for. I also was impressed that they seemed to carry quite a bit of their online items in store, which was nice so I could see everything in person. I will definitely be coming back here. read more

I absolutely love cost plus. Their decorations and stuff is unique and expensive, but the real reason why I come here is for the food! They have food, snacks, and candy from all over the world which is cool if you're craving that random candy you loved in Prague, but you can't find it anywhere in the US. I also discovered that their beer and wine are crazy cheap!! They have a modest selection of beer, but it's surprisingly cheap compared to everywhere else. Went in to find lupini beans and they didn't have them. Looked at a couple things in passing when a salesperson advised that if I was signed up with their frequent buyer program I could get a coupon. I asked her to check and make sure I was eligible entering my information into the keypad. I proceeded to spend an hour + picking up about $200 in gift only to get to the checkout and for whatever reason the coupon would not show up as a text. I explained that the other salesperson had verified my eligibility. The cashier would not honor the discount. Honestly, I still love brick and mortar stores but this kind of customer service is killing retail. I left everything at the store what a waste of time and energy. read more

New location is a nightmare and cramped together, the new hire employees are rude and severely lack customer service etiquette.

Ordered 6 pieces of outdoor furniture, 3 of them arrived damaged. After several emails and waiting on hold for customer service with no answer or any response to my email!! The furniture is large and heavy so I can't fit it in my car to return to the store. It would be great to talk to someone in customer service to resolve this issue. This store may be a little overpriced than some other home decorating stores out there but at least they sell stuff that's made elsewhere in the world other than China. Their selections for rugs are beautiful and priced just right. They also have some nice selections for seating and dining sets. It is also my go-to place for table setting pieces. Don't bother calling the store to have them "hold" a product for you... when you show up to pick it up, it won't be there! Instead, A snarky employee will tell you that those were sold and you should have asked to hold them(which is exactly what I did). I am not an unreasonable person, I understand that miscommunications happen. Someone on the phone said they would "hold" a product for me and another person ended up selling said product. They obviously did not communicate with each other. I get it, accidents happen and that is forgivable. But to be completely rude and dismissive instead of admitting even the possibility that a miscommunication happened and it could possibly be the stores fault... that world market is not forgivable! read more

I absolutely LOVE World Market!!!! Its definately one of my favorite places to wander around and spend the afternoon. I love to look at the beautiful scarves and pillows and artwork. And I love drooling over the different pieces of furniture I want when I get a home of my own. Its so fun to peruze thru World Market, they have everything you could possibly need!! So I don't write reviews,but last time I was in the store. I saw a customer being so unreasonable and difficult with the workers. She continued to talk down to them like they were idiots, while they were going out of their way to help her. I've worked retail before and understand how difficult customer service can be. I just wanted to say, that the employee did a great job of keeping her cool, and remaining professional. She deserves some recognition for that. People are so impossible sometimes, and ruin the shopping experience for others. Anyways, I felt really upset about this and I wanted to say good job to the staff member, because she went far and beyond to help this lady, but some people are just too difficult. Prices are comparable to other furniture stores, so we purchased a bed frame. However any free shipping coupons you have don't apply to the $100 shipping fee on larger items. If is pay $100 to have something shipped, I expect reasonable care and prompt delivery. Not the case. The delivery driver arrived three hours after the end of the scheduled three hour delivery window they dictated to me, incidentally in the middle of a work day. the bed came in two boxes. I opened the headboard box and immediately found a large (4" long) cut or tear in the fabric of the headboard, with stuffing spilling out. Upon inspection, the box appears to have been punctured several times with a forklift fork. I called the local store for help who directed me to call the website. I called the website customer service line and got offered two options. The first was to discount the product 25%. Not acceptable. The second option was to ship the bed back for an exchange. In order to do this, I would need to schedule pickup with the same f-ed up delivery company for three days later. Then wait three days for the product to ship, then wait 7-14 additional days to scheduled delivery with the same f-ed up delivery company. This is after having waited the same amount of time for the first delivery while sleeping with our mattress on the floor. Again, for a $100 shipping fee, unacceptable. I am shipping the mattress back for a refund and will find another option locally. We've had great experiences shopping in our local store, but if you are shopping online, especially for large items, you may expect the following: -Expensive shipping fees, coupons/discounts don't apply -Long delivery time -Poor customer service from delivery company -Heavily damaged products -Ridiculous turnaround time for returns -Minimal help from local stores with purchases made online read more

I ordered a sofa for my daughter. When it arrived, she was out of state with a gravely ill relative. Her best friend was able to meet the movers at the apartment, but they refused to help her move the sofa into the apartment. It was in a huge box and heavy and difficult to move, but again, they refused to help her. They left it at the front door and left. I called world market and was told that somewhere buried in the fine print somewhere on their website is a disclaimer that they only deliver the furniture to your front door. And that if you need further assistance, you must call them first. When I asked how I would have known that, they really had no response. Lesson learned. read more
