When we got there, we were asking a bunch of questions about stone type (e.g., round, cushion, etc.) and then band designs. After trying 2-3 rings, when my friend asked if she could try a wedding band with an engagement ring to know what it looked like, the person replied brusquely, "I just want to make sure you are serious buyers. The way you are asking questions seems like you're not serious and you are just trying on but not going to purchase" and then walked away and sat down in the back of the room. He then also mentioned "we are closing soon" (which was true - i called ahead to ask if it was okay). I was shocked. I have been in many diamond stores as I am looking for rings myself and everyone is patient and kind - they know that people go to multiple stores to understand what they like. That is the point of going in store. I was embarrassed i even suggested to my friend to go here and i could tell she felt really bad for something she shouldn't have. After he said that, we left shortly after (it was past closing too). Before leaving, i told the other person (who was nice) that we are serious buyers and i didn't think we needed to verbalize it. Sounds like the theme is a bad temper from the owner. I guess for other reviews, if you know exactly what you want and you go right to what the transaction is, then i guess they are friendly (and maybe not even that based on other reviews) but i would not recommend this place to a friend in the future.

No pressure on fees: I told sales associate Linda our budget and she ensured to stay in it. If I was attracted to something a bit more expensive she did warn me before taking it out of display and even showed me comparables that were in my budget. They not only understand a couple's desire to buy wedding rings but understand the bigger picture of planning a wedding itself and therefore are very considerate when discussing prices. 2. The team's patience: My husband and I went into the store not knowing exactly what we wanted. We stayed there for a very long time looking and they never pressured us to buy. They kept advising us to take our time because they understand how big of a decision this is. 3. Very informative: My husband works as an Electrician and therefore they adjusted ring recommendations to rings that don't scratch easily. They also taught me how to clean the rings to keep it an extra shine as well as mentioned how easy it is to resize in the future. If you are a couple that needs heavy guidance like we did, I would highly recommend Hollywood Diamonds. We heard about Hollywood Diamond through word-of-mouth, and thought we could sit down to educate ourselves about diamonds, as well as try on some settings. Thach and his wife had the patience of saints to sit down with us for 2 hours to educate us on the 4 C's of a diamond, lab vs. mined, sizing, settings, literally any question and concern we could think of - Thach took seriously and alleviated our thoughts. Overall, it was a very pleasant, low pressure experience and to seal the deal, the pricing was unbeatable when we compared to online retailers. The cherry on top was that we were visiting from Vancouver, and Hollywood Diamond was able to get the ring completed for us in 10 days! That's unheard of, and we are grateful to the Thai family for going above and beyond.

I explained to Jonathan and Michael that I was looking for a sapphire ring, and wanted to know if they did gemstones. Michael got back to me fairly quickly and said that they could source some sapphires for me and asked me to book an appointment. The appointment was simple and done online. At the initial consultation, Michael showed me the stones he sourced (all within the budget I sent him earlier) and I quickly narrowed down my selection to one sapphire that just stood out. He took down all my notes about how I wanted the ring to be, and sent me an estimate later that afternoon. By the evening, I had a deposit placed and was excited. The entire process took about 7 weeks, from placing an order to receiving the ring. When Kimberfire sent me the sketches of the ring, there were a few changes that had to made the first time, but Michael was very helpful throughout, explaining every single aspect to me and answering every single one of my questions. In the end, I got a beautiful ring and paid way less than what I would have at another store I visited. These guys work within your budget to help you find the most ideal ring and stone. My fiancé and I had literally just gotten engaged the morning we decided to go to Spence to pick out an engagement ring for me (my fiancé wanted this to be an experience we could enjoy together), so we went to Spence just to look since everything was still so fresh and we wanted to enjoy the engagement part. However, that didn't last long. We were paired with a salesman named Arya (no longer employed there) who made us feel pressured, belittled my wishes, and only showed us their "artisan" diamonds (mined diamonds were not even mentioned during this experience). Eventually after trying on rings and asking questions when we could (he split his attention between us and another couple), he took us to a room and talked my fiancé into a larger diamond than I felt comfortable with (my fiancé is paying for the ring, but I have to wear it everyday). We were pressured to put a refundable "hold deposit" on the diamond we chose, despite my telling Arya repeatedly that we literally just got engaged and weren't ready. We went back 2 weeks later to collect our hold deposit and try our luck at their Mississauga location. I'd love to say that experience went over better, however, that would not be the truth. Needless to say, I will not be a returning customer to Spence for anything important. If I want a paid of artisan diamond stud earrings, sure, but for a piece of jeweler I will be showcasing on myself for the rest of my life, not a chance.

I called the store's business number after 10 minutes waiting, left a message, and left. I later noticed that about 15 minutes after we left, the jeweler called and offered a very casual nonchalant apology claiming she had been held up in an appointment, and asking me to call to reschedule. Wow. Not only did this store fail to keep the appointment, they didn't seem to feel that bad about it or realize how disappointing and inconvenient this was for us! Completely unprofessional. We are looking for fairly standard rings and we had a friend's recommendation, so this in all likelihood would have been an easy sale, that they threw away. You've been warned!
