Avoid this place for watch repair! They are expensive, unorganized, poor communicators, and most of what Claude says is a lie. I walked in to see if they could repair my watch. The plan was to put in a new battery (for $50.85!) and go from there. Claude would text me when it was ready. Radio silence.. After 2 weeks I popped in, they hadn't changed the battery yet. Another 2 weeks passed.. no message. So I stopped by again. This time they did change the battery but Claude didn't communicate this to me. Since the new battery didn't fix the problem, they wanted their "expert" to look at it and give an estimate of the repair. As a result, they held onto my watch for another 2 additional months (!) without any communication. When I visited the store to check on the status, they couldn't give any update and promised it would be ready soon. When I had enough and asked for my watch back, they actually didn't know where it was! They sent me home again and Claude would call me the following day to give an update on where it was (you guessed it: he didn't.) When I came back again the next day, I was helped by Bernadette. Thank god she was able to help, locate my watch within a day, and actually call me with the news. That said, I will never come back here again! read more

He's a talented, capable, and creative individual. He's not rude -- he's simply direct, especially when responding to questions that may not need elaborate answers. since March I have been dealing with this people about my expensive wedding ring that we took there for resizing. first time we got it back resized within a couple of weeks the part added to the ring discoloured and turned yellow (the ring is platinum). took it back and then the added part was way too thing when compared to the rest of the ring. now it snapped and broke. I am talking about a job that we paid $750.00!! watch out if you have something valuable do not trust this business. Horrible! he might come back saying what caused damages to the ring is that go to the gym. I am NOT an body builder and I never took off for anything during the 10 years I wore it. Claude the fraud. Brought in few pieces to fix. He overpriced job then when questioned about price he shamed me. I should have gathered everything and left as I had that intuition. 3 weeks later job is complete. Work was terrible, unprofessional and surely if I could solder I would have done better. Destroyed 3 watches while simply asked to replace the batteries, then lied about it and asked for more money on pick up, then physically pushed us out the door for refusing. His staff also damaged gold earrings replacing a stone. He charges a fortune, full payment upfront. Takes weeks to get anything done, despite follow up calls and visits. He's a loud, aggressive and despicably rude individual, this Claude person. Don't spend a minute or a penny in this place. It will cost you your time, energy, money and jewelery. I brought a 1975 vintage Omega watch to Claude (that was passed down from my Grandfather) to have a piece fixed since the date wouldn't move. The dial and hands worked perfectly fine when I brought it to him, just the date needed to be fixed. I also paid him to clean the watch. I spent months waiting for Claude to get back to me with regards to a "very specific" piece he was trying to source for me (no problem). Whenever I walked by the store I would go in and ask him for an update to which he would say "I'm still waiting. I'll reach out to you next week". Every single week for 6 months I waited for him to reach out to me with an update and he never did. After waiting a long time, I decided to pick up the watch and continue waiting for the part the come in. The watch came back not working whatsoever (the hands won't move) leading me to believe he misplaced a part or didn't put it back properly. The watch was also dirty which was a service I originally paid for. I took the watch back in and Claude acted like he had never seen me before, didn't remember the watch, didn't remember doing any work on it, and got extremely defensive. This is a terrible way to run a business, and I would NEVER trust this man with anything moving forward. I don't know where all these good reviews come from. read more

Amazing quality of service with knowledgeable & cool staff! Anastasia answered my phone call and had me text her pictures of my broken beaded bracelet to quote a price. It was reasonable so I immediately headed over and she was able to fix it on the spot (took ~20mins). She's very skillful and reassured me of the quality and longevity of the materials they use. Their wire clasps are made in-house and their supplies are all the best in the business. I highly recommend The Beadery for repairs, unique rings, and they even help make custom jewelry too (such as medical alert bracelets)! Writing my review after just returning home from The Beadery. Wrote one on google review but he seems to have most of the negative reviews removed or replies with a 5 paragraph rant blaming you for his incompetence. My experience at this jeweller was very disappointing. They are disorganized, the customer service is poor and the craftsmanship is mediocre at best. I dropped 4 items off on May 10 -- two watches for resizing, a solid gold bracelet and a necklace that needed to be repaired. I was told (verbally) that I should expect a call within the next week to pick-up. When I dropped the items off he seemed to be in a rush, and when I attempted to explain what I wanted, he would cut me off "yeah yeah I got it", I didn't think much of it because I figured it was simple repairs and he seemed to be an experienced jeweller based on the reviews. After a week and a half passed, I called to check up on the status of the items, the person on the phone said they remembered my items, but went on to ask if the watches were brought in for battery replacement, which was puzzling, I was told that they would check, and give me a call back. I didn't receive a call so I called again a week later and received a similar response. I decided to go in person today to check up on the items, as it has been 3 weeks since I dropped them off and 2 weeks longer than I was quoted for timeline. He immediately told me he was not able to check on the items, as they were "in process" and he is unable to "open the boxes", he then told me the 3 week timeline was "normal" despite being told it would be 1 week, and told me that he'd need to check if he promised me one week, I'm not sure what he'd be checking since he seems to just write everything on a random piece of scrap paper. He told me they'd be ready this week, mind you at this point he doesn't even know what items I"m referring to. He then called me 5 minutes later to come back as the items were ready. He then claimed to have called me to tell me they were done at an earlier date, which was not the case, but he kept arguing back and forth about it so I let it go as it was a moot point. I don't see why he would not just take the time while I was in the store to check on my items, but at this point I just wanted to be done with this place. He dropped the items in front of me and walked away, did not ask how they looked, if I was satisfied with them, nothing whatsoever. Which I find bizarre for a jeweller as they tend to take pride in their work. In terms of the quality of the work, the watches seem to be okay, the bracelet is okay as well. I am very unimpressed with the way in which my necklace was fixed, it's a 14K gold necklace with a pearl in the centre, the chain broke in the centre and he repaired it by looping a small gold wire in between the pieces of the necklace, the finishing is so uneven and there is a piece of wire sticking out that is scratching the side of the pearl. I didn't even bother to mention it to him (or whoever the young man was he left to hand me my items) because I know he would've told me that (1) the pearl was scratched when I came in (it wasn't) and (2) that is the only way he could fix the jewelry. I'm going to take it to another jeweller to properly fix it. The lack of attention to detail is the complete opposite of what you want in a jeweller, especially when bringing in valuable and sentimental items. I understand that maybe he has a specialty and it is not repairing dainty gold items, but he should've voiced that when I brought the items in. I'm not sure what the story is with the 1000+ 5-star reviews on google, but even if he was the best jeweller in the city, the manner in which he manages his business and treats his customers is a reason to look elsewhere. PS: He "repaired" my partner's ring two years ago -- and claimed to have replace the stone with a ruby. The ruby was a bright pink colour which my partner asked him about, to which he immediately became defensive and said "what are you talking about this is a beautiful perfect ruby". My partner took it to another jeweller to be checked and replaced, the jeweller had it tested and it was a pink piece of glass. I was not aware of this or I would not have come here. read more

WOW! This place exceeded my expectations. Anastasia noticed I walked in and greeted me right away, asking what I needed help with. I came in to have a chain repaired. Anastasia did this in less than 10 minutes all while servicing another walk-in! And, the price was very reasonable. I browsed while waiting and there was so much to choose from! I knew I needed to have a ring, or two... or three! Claude was helpful and allowed me to try a few on. I told him what I was looking for and he was keen on showing me exactly that. I admired his pride in his work as everything is crafted by him. I love the feel of this shop! Everything is made/repaired in-house and really has a welcoming energy. Beyond jewellery repair, he has the skills and artistry to take my Tag Heuer watch apart into a million pieces, clean each one of them of the salt and crust from an accident in the sea, and put it back together as if new! I've had a few items repaired here and they do an amazing job! They know their stuff and pay attention to details and make fair recommendations. I had pearls and the string broke. They were able to mend the string and I have my pearls again! I had a bracelet with a broken clasp. The Beadery had different options for clasps depending on the amount of gold in the clasp. I'm shocked by the rudeness of the owner. Dude acts like he's doing you a favor or you owe him money lol. A few weeks ago, I brought 2 beads bracelets to get repaired. One of them broke within a week and the other one became extremely loose within the same span, and I knew it was going to break... So i brought them back to get fixed. The dude got pissed, as if I insulted him, when the only thing I said was that work done didn't last and if there was any way to make it last longer. With a 30$+tax fee per bracelet for repairs, it was legitimate concern, no? I was cordial and never raised my voice. There was no reason to angrily throw the receipt at me, after I paid for the second round of repairs, rudely brush me off and say "I'm not a freaking scientist, I can't predict when a bracelet will break!"... hmmm, sure... but isn't he supposed to be a beads expert? And then he was being a condescending douchebag, loudly telling his employee "Make the bracelets so tight that he can't take them off". I was flabbergasted. They called me to pick up the bracelets about a week and half after this... the work wasn't done properly. So the owner tells me, "I will get it done for tomorrow. Don't come until we call you back"... lol. Obviously I didn't get a call back. So I called the following Tuesday and spoke with an employee who told me it wouldn't be ready until the following week. I was cool with that because I just know the owner is an incompetent cretin and he makes it hard on his employees, so I feel bad for them. The message, on what to do, comes from a moron who doesn't even note what you tell him properly. He brushes you off and acts as if he knows everything. I'm pretty sure he forgot what I told him 30 seconds after I left lol. Thankfully the lady on the phone was thorough, she clearly took notes because everything that was supposed to be done was done properly...so the 3rd time was the charm. This is the last time I ever do business with these guys. They are completely disorganized. (When I came to pick up the bracelets, the second time, he couldn't find them lolll). Also, this business is rated 5* on google reviews but it's obviously a bunch of fake reviews. There are 500+ reviews with the vast majority of profiles having only 1 review on their account lol. Not to mention that there isn't a single 1 star review, except the one I will leave. And if you quickly scroll through the comments, you'll see of a bunch of reviews gushing about how amazing of a person the owner is... lol yeah right. 0* P.S*: a couple of week after it was done the last time, the bracelet started getting loose again and the slided knot started getting undone. I went to this store with my 12 year old son to get stones for my son's jewelry project. The man who runs the store was working on some jewelry project but was amazingly patient and kind to my son. Kudos to him! I loved the selection which was done with a very loving sense of aesthetics, and Edith Piaf on the speakers was perfect for this slightly bohemian, slightly refined and definitely welcoming place. So they did a really wonderful job on repairing a ring that I brought in, but they told me it would take 10 days and instead it took *a month*. When I followed up by phone, I got no response, by walking in, they were very rude and said they were just busy. Which I get, but don't tell me a week to 10 days then. It is also very overpriced. It carries an extensive stock of different beads, gems and jewels to create your own original trinkets and accessories to wear. As well, if you are looking for an activity to destress and do something creative, The Beadery offers classes! For 5 classes which run for a full three hours, it costs just over $200 and that includes both the instruction and all of the funky supplies to produce at least five to six projects. I didn't need much, just a clasp and some string to redo a necklace I made using a magnetic clasp because the recipient was worried it would fall off. Okay. It took a long time to get the clasp because I couldn't find them (the store isn't very organized) and I had to wait for the single shop worker and there were a couple people ahead of me. It took a while and all the while I was looking and then she showed me the little nook where half of the clasps were kept (the ring half is apparently hidden in an employee-only area). She recommended the silk cord for my application. I'm not much into this particular craft so I don't know if that's good, but I explained what I was doing and she recommended it so okay. I went home and did the switchover. Gave the necklace later that day, and by nightfall the cord had died and the beads lost all over the sidewalk. Perhaps I did something wrong...but I've tied lots of threads and ropes onto lots of things (including a few other bracelets and necklaces) and never had them just give out like that. Since she knew I was a novice, if there was some special procedure required for this thread then she should have said it or it should have been on the package. Neither was the case. So maybe the product itself was either bad or the wrong one for my application. In summary, I won't be going back here for my next bead experiment. read more

The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because they got backed up a bit, didn't call, and kept me waiting for a few weeks. Once I called to check up on it they were good about making it a priority though, so overall I had a positive experience still. And their work was good. read more

I'd been hunting all day for ruby beads and had pretty much given up hope when I stopped by. Claude had to repeat himself that, yes, he had rubies. And, since I only needed a few, he found loose beads for me so I didn't have to spend a bunch of cash. Since the store was busy I had a bit of a wait, but that gave me time to browse and enjoy the beautiful jewellery throughout the shop, such a beautiful mix of modern materials with natural elements. This shop stands out not only in its unique collection of beads but also its warm, friendly and extremely knowledgable customer service. When I walk in I know that my needs are the priority of the staff. They answer all my questions and offer advice and suggestions without being intrusive. They have truly made a difference in helping me grow as a jewelry maker and I look forward to going back to browse and purchase from their beautiful collection!
