I want to wear it every day. I have to say, I have never been a big jewellery wearer, but having my own customized piece makes me want to plan my outfits around my beautiful necklace. I didn't quite know what to expect when I went to Anice yesterday for the Yelp elite Canada made event. I think there's a certain perception most people have with a "handmade" piece of jewelry, perhaps that it often looks handmade, rough, unfinished, unpolished, etc. I certainly had some of those perceptions when I found out we were going to make our own piece ourselves. Anice makes it really easy to design and create your very own unique piece of jewelry, be it for yourself or for a loved one. The style is completely up to you. I was really taken back by their extensive choices in beads, jewels, metals, chains, etc. I personally have made my own jewelry before (in my teens), one of the hardest things I found about that was sourcing good quality materials, and not in bulk as most stores will sell them. I just ended up with a bunch of material that was low quality and expensive. Anice has things like solid gold and plated chains, real semi-precious stones (not colour dyed) as well as reused materials which can be a cool unique touch. You buy just what you need, you make the jewelry on the spot and you don't need to invest in your own materials and tools....What's not amazing about this concept?! I really recommend going if you love unique jewelry and have an itch to make your own. The prices are very reasonable and they work with you to create something within your budget. Britt and Olivia walked my friends and I through the rather simple process of making our own piece. Not only did I get to hang with a couple buddies, drink beer and eat awesome food (catered by The Butchers Son), I was able to make my girlfriend a rather unique necklace just in time for Valentines day. Highly suggest checking this place out. It heavily exceeded all of my expectations. Pro tip: Although the two girls were wicked at helping us all put something together, I highly suggest getting some ideas prior to showing up. I got to poke through sorting drawers filled with gems and other antique treasures for bits and bobbles that reminded me of the birthday girl, then Britt helped me design the perfect piece. When I came to pick it up I were blown away by how entirely she had understood my poorly articulated vision. Really, just a fantastic bijou shop. This is probably one of my favourite jewelry stores around. BF got me a bracelet from here and I was able to personalize it to the way I liked it. It is really good quality and I wear it a lot. It is one of my favourite jewelry pieces I own, sentimentally and the style of it really works with everything I wear. The girls that work there are really nice and I cannot stop yearning for more pieces. I want to get more bracelets, I just wish they sent out some emails for special discounts for those that have purchased before. I've bought several pieces from this jewelry store in Kensington Market. My best friend introduced me to this store and since then I've bought several pieces from them. They have ready to wear pieces and can also make custom pieces. Prior to my latest purchase, everything I bought was either ready to wear or a customization of a piece they already sell. They also create personalized tags on sterling silver or brass tags. The prices are a bit high, but personally I'm okay with that if I'm buying local and can count on the quality of the material. I recently had a rope ring made. It was too thin; it didn't retain its shape. Britt, the owner, had a new ring created that was thicker. I exchanged the initial ring for the new one, only paying the difference as the new piece was more expensive. They also offer workshops, if that's something that you are interested in. This jewelry shop is a ***superstar***! Seriously, the first time that I ever walked into Anice, I was overcome. For starters, the walls are filled with new, old and re-fabricated, classic and trendy items that you actually want to buy... at nearly any price point. Secondly, I met shop owner Britt on my first visit and chatting with her was a dream, complete with an inspiring story about starting one's own business. Thirdly, I was browsing around for a birthday gift for a friend and I ended up walking away with a super cute bracelet that was customized ON THE SPOT with her initial and favourite stone. When does that happen? Since that fateful day, I have returned to Anice multiple times for various gifts. I love that you can buy something more plain and have it stamped with anything you want, or stick a bead anywhere. And of course, on occasion, I can't help but pick up a little something for myself too. It makes me happy to support such good people, but it is totally selfish at the same time since I do love the final products. I went to get a simple wedding band for myself - I told them what I wanted, they sized me up, and the piece was ready for me faster than anticipated. Unfortunately, the day I was sized was one of the hottest days of the year, so my finger was really fat and we needed a smaller ring. They sent for another to be made and it arrived promptly. I've never reviewed anything before, but I was really disappointed with the customer service and output that I received at Anice Jewellery. I dropped off two pieces of jewellery to be fixed, which they told me they were able to do. They ended up not being able to fix one, and the other one cost significantly more than what I was originally quoted. It ended up taking almost a full month to get an update on the status (via email). Additionally, when I went to pick up my jewellery, they took almost 25 minutes to find it within the store. When I commented that one of the pieces looked bent (compared to when I dropped it off), they were not helpful or understanding of my concern. Overall, it was a negative experience, and I will not go back and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

I have had two amazing experiences creating beautiful custom pieces! My first experience was just over a year ago at the Kensington location (now closed) with Britt who went above and beyond to help me create a personalized charm bracelet for my birthday. The next time I was at the store was at the location on Ossington (both locations were/are gorgeously designed!). On this day the store was in the middle of a workshop and the woman working in the store told me that I would have to wait for the workshop facilitator before I could receive support creating a piece. I was a bit taken aback that the person working at the store could not help me herself considering she is employed at a jewellery store, nevertheless, I waited. By the time the workshop ended, I was informed very politely by the workshop facilitator that the store was about to close so she would not have time to help me. I left wondering why the woman working at the store could not have told me that earlier and if not for the nice interaction I had with the workshop facilitator, I probably would not have come back. I returned this afternoon to create my second piece and was happy to find the same workshop facilitator working at the store (I learned her name is Willo!). She spent nearly an hour with me to help me create a new necklace which I absolutely love! Both Britt and Willo were incredible at providing recommendations and supporting me throughout the process!
