I live in San Jose and come to the Monterey Area every weekend. I have been coming to Workhorse Bicycles for almost 6 months now, and I will say I have had great customer service every time I come in, even amidst the pandemic. I know these guys are busy but they really take the time to make sure that I made educated decisions for both services and upgrades. I bring my road and mountain bike here both for service and these guys are always friendly and do such a great job! I have been to many bike shops around the Bay Area, but I will be coming here from now on even though it's over an hour away. Thank you so much guys!

We had an excellent experience purchasing a used electric bike at Workhorse. The showroom had a good selection of bikes from striders for toddlers up to highly specialized road and mountain bikes for adults. The service was no pressure, and they seemed genuinely eager to help get us into the right bike. We opted for a used E-bike, and they even spent a while helping research compatible bike seats for our toddler. Overall good experience at Workhorse and would recommend coming here for your next bike purchase.

Bought bike shoes 2 days ago. I tried them today in 10 minutes ride around the home. Shoes cause my feet to hurt. The store doesn't accept returns. Update: This was not a special order or sale, this pair of shoes were recommended to me by a staff member. There was no option to try shoes in the store on a bike. The staff and salesperson did NOT let me know that there is NO return policy on shoes. Sorry, but wasting more money in your store is not the kind of help I was expecting. After speaking with the owner I'm convinced it was a mistake to purchase shoes from WHB.

I ended up purchasing a giant hard tail to hit the trails out here in Fort Ord and have been having fun bombing hills

Bought a bike from these guys on 4-21-20 I was Actually surprised they were still open for business during these tough covid-19 times . They were definitely taking all safety measures by only allowing a couple customers in at once and what not anyways... I knew what I wanted and they had it in stock the guy who helped me was josh and was totally cool even let me test drive it definitely wasn't pushy on trying to up sale or anything of that nature. I've gone back a couple times since then for some accessories and have referred a couple friends. This shop makes you feel welcomed they even remember your name as they great you in !

Awesome bike rental and repair shop!

Decided on-the-fly to rent bikes to work off a huge brunch we had at Rosine's. Initially, my yelp search led me to Adventures By The Sea, which had more reviews and the typical marked up prices ($20/hr). At the time of my search, Workhorse had no photos but 3 stellar 5-Star reviews. Decided to give them a call to get prices, which cemented the decision to give them a try. $9/hr for a standard bike is a sweet deal! We were greeted immediately upon arrival and had our bikes in no time. They have a 9-min grace period and we made it back within 7-min. Also, you can drop off your rentals at their other locations as well (there's one at Cannery Row). Super convenient and easy on the wallet. The moral of this yelp review is: don't judge a shop by its lack of reviews and photos :-P Highly recommend this shop!

Came to Monterey for a 3 day trip, my plan was to ride every day and on my first day 5 miles into my ride to Big Sur my shifter cable snapped so I road to 3 bike shops all of them busy or only rental shops and finally found workhorse bikes and the guys had my bike ready in few hours, they did great work and indexed my gears perfectly , really great work and great prices... The store has a lot of good deals on bike stuff...

Hey! Does anyone know if they have any type of baby carriers for rent? I have an 11 month (22lb) baby and was wondering if that was an option! Thanks in advance!

We had a fantastic time with Cathy on our tour of Carmel by the Sea. They have a few different…read moretours so make sure you know which one you booked as all start from the same place and (from what I could tell...) same time. Cathy actually texted me the night before to introduce herself and provide a few instructions and tips. A key tip is bring water and a small back pack or fanny pack to put the bottle in. The bikes don't all have baskets and the baskets don't hold things very well. So you might also bring a small bungee cord to keep things "in the basket" should you get a bike with a basket. Check in was a breeze. The most "difficult" part of the whole tour was finding helmets that fit and sizing the bike seats There were 6 in our tour. We left right on time at 10 and got back at 12:45. We stopped multiple times for photo ops and to look at different properties. We even got to walk through the La Playa hotel which is a beautiful property! I loved seeing and learning about the Comstock homes and the fact that the homes in Carmel by the Sea do not have street addresses. (They will soon as a new reg has passed that every property now needs a proper address... Not just a name.) All in all, I had a wonderful time and enjoyed the tour very much. I don't ride bikes often anymore as an adult and this was the first time riding an E-Bike. The learning curve is easy once you know the difference between Eco, Sport and Turbo. I enjoyed it and it made the tour almost effortless. Highly recommend Mad Dogs! Note....the coffee shop is just up around the corner. You cannot access it directly from the bike shop.

Perhaps i will become a bike person. Learning proper care and just being educated on the product i am purchasing has always been important to me. Not very many shops could even give me the time of day with how booming the bicycle business is during covid. I walked in and out of a couple bike stores but valley bikes did it right and really gave me a great greeting as a new customer. i felt welcome and helped me get set up and going on the path to healing my leg through riding a bicycle. I cant thank them enough and valley bikes will be my only shop worth visiting. Thanx boiz!
