So im a skateboarder. I am clueless about what a bicycle needs for maintenance. Your mission with skateboards is to break them, and with bikes you find ways to preserve them. Not exactly my forte. Skate shops can have an intimidating environment and as a newbie going into a bike shop i felt that vibe in alot of places... valley bikes was the way bills wheels felt when i first walked in years ago. Not trying to make a sale but just trying to make sure that we get to enjoy the passion as they do. I regret not actually getting the names of these fellas, but i went to a couple bike shops, looking to get info and direction in what i need to do as a person who has to ride a bike out of necessity for leg rehabilitation. Perhaps i will become a bike person. Learning proper care and just being educated on the product i am purchasing has always been important to me. Not very many shops could even give me the time of day with how booming the bicycle business is during covid. I walked in and out of a couple bike stores but valley bikes did it right and really gave me a great greeting as a new customer. i felt welcome and helped me get set up and going on the path to healing my leg through riding a bicycle. These guys are rude and moody they are rude to each other and to customers just needed a chain but they just criticized my bike and couldn't cut a chain even though it really doesn't take more than 2 minutes it's just a chain breaker either ways needed another part said they have plenty than said they didn't then pulled out a bunch upped there prices way to much and gave me a bunch a crap for needing a small part saying there's definitely something wrong I wouldn't doubt the other one star review it's like do you even wanna make a sale? read more

Man, where do I start.! I bought a 2021 Cannondale Habit 4 during COVID from this shop! It was possibly one of the best decisions I perhaps could've made long story short my bike took a shit and I brought it back to the original shop, which is Valley Bike's and let me tell you their customer service is awesome. The way they greeted me, the way they provided the service, the way they got in contact with me, telling me what the issues were, and that they were gonna resolve the issues, they gave me an ET of a week. I left my bike there for repairs the guy said would call me back with an estimate and never did . Calls me two days later with a price gouging bill to pay . Did even fix my bike right back wheel almost fell off and both of the incompetent guys working there couldn't own up to there fouls and only deflecting to doing nothing wrong. Don't recommend this place at all! I went back to this guy to ask about something he had fixed on my bike. Right off the bat he blamed me, then accused me and my girlfriend of some review that was left on the store. He started yelling and cussing and said we were being recorded. I hope he post the video to show how not to run a store. Not wanting to escalate things my girlfriend and I left the store, he then followed us out of the store to our car. I don't know if he was trying to intimidate me or my girlfriend, but I saw that my girlfriend was scared at this point. This grown man came to our car acted like a victim, gave a half ass apologize for how he acted. I was already agitated at this point and he just kept coming closer to me, I don't know if he wanted to get a reaction out of me or what? My girlfriend left crying and shaking after this I don't know how this place is still in business! I went into the bike shop needing a flat tire fixed and left doing a complete tuneup. Eventhou it looked new it needed a complete tuneup.

I am not sure if the owner of this store just doesn't like teens, but every time my son has gone in there to ask about parts or pricing, he has been incredibly rude. I made it a point to watch the interactions from my car and have seen him walk away from him when he walks in. I have also gone in with him to see if this helps the interactions and he was less than helpful. He is really dry in his responses and it felt like pulling teeth when my son was asking questions. He is new to riding so he will have questions. The other guy who works there has always been helpful to my son and myself, but I am not sure what the owner's issue is. Glad others didn't have this experience, but we will be taking our business to Bobcat Bicycles where we have always been well-received. read more

I have never been into this bike shop, but I was greeted promptly once I entered. I was looking for a bike and it had been decades since I last rode one. So I'm a new rider to the Salinas/Monterey area, and I was looking for a good shop to help out with repairs that were above my level on my road bike. Just before moving to the area I purchased a carbon fiber road bike for a deal online. The bike is great, but I was having repeated issues with flats, broken spokes, and the brakes were really loose. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I've been riding for a couple of years and usually do my own minor maintenance, but this was over my head. I took the bike to a largest bike shop in So Cal where I lived just before moving here and paid 125 to have them fix the problems, but nothing changed. I saw this shop on the way to work, and figured I would give it a shot and see if they could help me out with the problem. It was Thursday afternoon and I was really hoping to have it fixed up by Saturday morning because I wanted to go riding with some friends, and I am so glad I brought my bike in to the shop. By late Thursday the owner, Kenny, had figured out what was causing the persisting problems and figured out the wheels the guy sold me with the bike were thrashed. He also figured out that the guy screwed up setting up the brakes so they were almost useless and that's why they weren't stopping like they should. I'm thinking to myself, "Well there goes my weekend ride." But I was wrong about that, Kenny hooked me up with a sweet pair of reasonably priced wheels that he could get by Friday and had the bike fully tuned by 5:30. He even managed to shave a pound off an already light bike. I'm still trying to find where to go to get good Indian food in Salinas, or good Thai, or where a cool place to get a beer is. However, anytime I have problems with any of my bikes I'm bringing them to Kenny at Valley Bikes. Great service, and great people. Thank You Kenny. read more

The owner talks to you like you know nothing about bikes. He has no respect talking over the phone with aggression. I have videos to prove it. Most of his parts are over price and every time you ask for a price on something he says the price and when you look online and realize the price is 40 dollars cheaper on Amazon. I get it you have to upscale products to make money but you can't force me to pay 90 dollars on a tire when I can get it online for 60. He hung up on me over the phone because I didn't want the tires, chain and break pads changed cause I can do that myself. He was frustrated and said you know what pick up your bike I don't wanna deal with it. All I asked for was a major tune up and a seat post. He tried to up sale me on the things I needed, because I rejected the up sale he was frustrated and decided not to do the tune up on my bike. When I went there to pick it up I tried to talk to him on why he was talking to people that way and why he had so much aggression and where I worked and so on. I told him what he wanted to hear and all I said was talk to me with a little respect, we're already on a global pandemic and you have to talk to me this way. He had his excuses ofcourse and I said why are you angry I did nothing to you. He said I'm not angry but I can get there meaning? Maybe he wanted to dance? Moral of the story is the guy is dealing with something personal or thats just how he talks to people. I did not like it and felt disrespected. Maybe he talked to me that way because he didn't like me to begin with or what ever it is. I've worked retail and a bunch of customer service jobs. I have never talked to someone like that or showed anger towards a customer. I will never return to this place nor would I tell any of my friends to go there. My bike was at the shop for 5 days. He said my bike will be done Sunday and I picked it up Tuesday just to get treated like that and nothing done to my bike. I do not recommend this place. Bad service and mistreated. Talk to everyone with respect Kenny like a respectful owner would. We are all humans at the end of the day and you are no better than the next. Make the world a peaceful place not full of anger. Customers make your business stay in business learn how to talk to people with respect. read more

I was very very impressed with the customer service at Valley Bikes. After another bike shop sold me a non-existent bike, I went on a hunt to find the same bike from another retailer. Valley Bikes took the time to listen to my story and understand what I was looking for. They did not have the bike in stock but made a point not only to contact their dealer, but also larger retail shops out of the area that might have had this bike that was sold out through Cannondale.
