We went in a couple a nights ago to "Work World" in Pittsburg hoping to find some composite toe boots about 20min before closing. It was about 5 people talking away at the register amongst themselves, nobody even looked up at us as we walked through. No hello, we're closing soon can we help you find anything, nothing! So as we approached the back where the shoe section is I see 2 guys talking. A young lady came out the back and I asked her if they had a specific shoe which they hadn't. Then I asked her if their shoes had a lifetime return like I just read online. You would have thought I went from English to a foreign language. Her reply was Oh, I don't know nothing about that. I said hmmmm, either Google has false advertising or you're out the loop. I pulled up Google search, and showed her. She walks up to the guys that were talking and asks 1 of them. He then explains the 60 day return policy of unworn shoes. I told him how I just saw on Google while searching composite shoes right under it read Work World lifetime returns. He said, Oh I think that's really old. At that point, I was outdone and wanted no parts of a store that lacks customer service, product knowledge or just plain good/common sense. They have entirely too many employees standing like mannequins that know absolutely nothing, and talk amongst themselves too much and not to customers. I wanted a carhartt jacket and this place came up on the carhartt website. The work world website is really noce and shows if they have something in stock. So i did a little research and went to the store to try on jackets. The gentleman there helped me find the right size and made a few suggestions and i got what i wanted (i thought) . I decided i wanted a different jacket (guess I'm picky) but had already taken the tags off. I went to return itband they looked it over and said ok but first i asked if i could try on a couple insaw online. The young lady looked at the pic on my cell and went and grabbed the two i wanted to try on. These days people rarely get something for you so that was a nice surprise. So i definitely would recommend this place, both times i went in the staff was super helpful, answered my questions, helped me get my size ect. The selection was way bigger than i expected as well. I doubt I'll need another jacket anytime soon but I'll definitely be back to look at their work boots when it's time. read more

I'm so disappointed! I spend A LOT of money at that store, because it is important that my husband have the required boots, clothing, safety gear etc. for his job. I buy 2 pairs of boots a year. {AT $200 A POP} I have experienced rude treatment from one of your cashiers recently. I am extremely dissatisfied with the attitude. She acted as though I were an annoyance. Customers are not an annoyance; we are the ones who pay her salary. No matter the specific behavior, your employee is clearly rubbing people the wrong way! Workin' it! I had to exchange a jacket I got for Christmas because it was the wrong size. I had never been to Work World before but found it easily and was glad there was plenty of parking. There were a few customers perusing the joint and handling big time business at the counter when I walked in, which meant waiting about five minutes. Before I arrived, I wasn't sure they'd have a lot of products for women aside from flowery nurse shirts, but they were well-stocked with more casual items too. I bought a few Dickie's comfy tees that were on sale and a pair of women's gloves that detach at the fingers for this chilly season. The clerk was very helpful and had patience with me as I ran to grab a different color of this or a different size of that. While I may not have good reason to go to Work World all the time, I'm glad I found out about this place. read more

Work World does not play games when it comes to hard work'n clothes and shoes for my man. My husband is an all blue collar work'n man now and we have had to do an upgrade to his work shoes. What used to be Kenneth Cole work shoes for the professional office are now non skid, oil resistant work boots. Which Work World has a huge selection of. Every kind of high top, low top, brown, black, tan, steel toe, water resistant boot you can imagine. Including some great warranties that they offer in house or through the manufacturer. On top of all of that they have every kind of selection of Carhardt, Dickie's and god knows what else kind of work clothes you could imagine. Not only did we get some new boots but we also got a fancy new pair of Dickie's double knee gray work pants. They had a great selection of work shorts too but didn't have the right size for my husband. Customer service here is excellent and you can tell that the employees really like working here. Even on a Sunday. I have shopped here many times in the past for my own work clothes, back when I used to have to work hard in the construction industry, and the women's clothes and shoes are just as great. This was the best shopping experience that I've had in a very long time. The entire staff at work world in Pittsburgh was warm and friendly even at 8:30 PM, 30 minutes before closing. I've always seen this location and I've never thought of going in until I had to go in and buy a pair of work pants. So I decide to go and buy a nice pair of Dickies. As soon as I walked in and the doorbells chimed a smiling man greeted me pleasantly and asked me how I was doing and if I was looking for work pants. I said yes, and then he asked me if i was looking for woman's Dickies. HE WAS READING MY MIND! After I confirmed my search he walked me over to their selection and showed me the most popular style for workers. He then pointed to a dressing room that I could use if I wanted to try on anything. I have been here many times over the years for uniforms, they have whatever you need. Only 1 time they didn't have the size I needed, they sent out to another store, got it in the NEXT DAY. About 10 years ago I bought my raingear here, if I remember right it was around $150... very high quality, I still use that same gear all winter long, where else do you find that kind of quality item? They also have lower priced gear. They seem to have every price range covered I have bought work boots here many times, very good selection of styles and price ranges I have also shopped here for non work clothes; I have bought pants, shirts and even a jacket here. Basically the items they sell are uniform quality, which means it is designed to last. They have everything most blue collar employees need at reasonable prices. The service is good but not great however I've been able to overlook that thanks to their well-stocked merchandise. My wife purchased a pair of boots for me unfortunately they were wrong type of boots. I went today to return them told them it was a return she asked if I wore them I said no she said were gonna need a receipt I said that's fine it's in the box. She took the box with the receipt and said she we need to get it approved. That's fine she came back and asked if I had the same card they were purchased with I told her no my wife made the purchase with her debit card and I was here to return them because she commutes from Oakland and doesn't get home until aroumd 8:30 She told me she couldn't do a return without the card. I asked why couldn't I get my cash back since it was a debit purchase she simply replied because I can't and I asked again why? She told me because they don't do that anymore. And that's your store policy because you can't? Because you don't do that anymore? No real explanation I've been here before high prices and horrible customer service. I could have got store credit and picked another pair of boots but I wasn't asked and didn't appreciate the attitude. We have shopped here for years and now we are done my daughter needed to use the restroom and when I asked if she could use the restroom the gal there said we don't have public bathrooms you will need to go to toy r us or harbor freight I said ok wow they make you guys go there to use the restrooms she said no we just don't have public restrooms I said even for a child that can't hold it she said nope. Do NOT buy anything from this store positive you won't need to return it! My boyfriend bought a pair of work boots from here, however I had already bought him a pair from somewhere else. So we went back to return the boots, which were never worn, still in the box and with a receipt. As soon as we walked in a new girl that worked there treated us (which was nice). But when she asked if we needed any help my boyfriend stated he needed to return something. Her reply was "No you don't !" We we're completely caught off guard. When we got to he counter she asked what we wanted to return, he said these boots. She asked a numiouers questions, it was as if we were being interrogated ! My boyfriend I sly replied "I don't want these boots. " she asked why he didn't want them and what was wrong with them. He said I just don't want them. AGAIN she asked why?! So finally he said cause I got another pair. AGAIN she asked what's wrong with these boots?! There is no need to question a customer multiple times for why they want to return something. I can understand if you ask them once, but over and over again is NOT necessary. As well as she had a bad attitude when she was asking. When another employee there checked the shoes to make sure they weren't worn or that we weren't trying to return the wrong pair of shoes, he told her, the shoes were good and to return them. She seemed reluctant to want to do the return, as if she didn't want a negative on there register when closing out for the day for their sales. Word of advise, if you want to keep a customer to come back and still purchase stuff from the store don't be so rude and interrogate your customers! Last time here I bought my favorite Carhartt shorts-the ones with the 7-inch inseam so you don't have any fabric over your knees like a cholo. Always great customer service. read more

Went in for new boots after making the mistake of buying some red wings at the red wing store where I unfortunately purchased boots that did not come with the comfort guarantee. Julie was great, she helped me right away and was able to answer all my questions. Also I was assured that the boots I bought have a 30 day comfort warranty so I can swap them out if they start to feel bad. I bought some wolverines and they feel much much better out of the box than the red wings ever did and I'm on my feet all day so that's very important to me. Will be back in the future! read more

First let me start by saying I am truly sorry if my actions in this matter hurt you in anyway, those definitely were not my intentions. I do wish you had brought this to my attention at the store because until this post I was totally unaware of your feelings in this matter. If I may clarify a few thing for you I hope that you will be able to see that your state of pregnancy and/or skin tone had absolutely nothing to do with my decision to let one person over another use our non-public restroom. When you first walked in and asked my about the restroom I responded the same way I respond to every one who asks and that is No, I am sorry we don't. and then I inform about the location of stores that do have a public restroom. You appeared to be in good spirits and not in dire need of a restroom. So I choose to respond the way I did. 15 minutes later when the other customer asked I also told her No, I am sorry we don't. the only difference in her situation to yours is that her small child was erratically doing the pee pee dance, I asked if its for the child who looked like they were going to burst. I thought about them not being able to make it to the restroom in the other stores and I explained once more our policy but told her I would make an exception for the child this one time. Never once did it pass through my head the difference in skin tones pregnancies and/or the prior discussion we had had earlier. I simply didn't want the child to be put through the embarrassment of not being able to hold it long enough to reach the outer restrooms. So I walked the child to the back room and stood there until they returned and then I went on with my day. Shortly after that you and your child returned and if you remember I thought I sent you the wrong way because you had went to the left instead of the right and I even apologized about that because I thought I gave you wrong directions. Even then things seemed normal. I believe it was your partner who informed you of the situation with the other lady and child. and once again I wished you had said something right then and there because I'm sure I would have been able to put your ill feelings to rest. I truly didn't mean to cause you any ill feelings and have since made sure that I treat every customer the same and if you and your partner would come back I would love to try to earn your business back. I will never shop at work world again! I was at their Pittsburg CA location on Sunday April 2nd 2017 and was discriminated against and I am not sure why. I went in with my partner and my four year old child, and while he shopped I asked a store employee if they had a restroom I could use. The employee responded with a NO and told me to try the store next door. I was hoping that he would let me since I am 6 months pregnant and had a child with me, but I understood the store rules and went next door. When I returned to work world my partner told me a woman came in after I did and also asked the same employee if she could use the restroom. The employee told the woman YES and kindly let her use their restroom. I couldn't understand why, and couldn't help but think if it was because I was Hispanic and the woman was Caucasian. The employee was also Caucasian. I try not jump into these kind of conclusions, but it was obvious.unless he had something against pregnant woman or children. No matter the reason this was unacceptable and store rules should apply to all not just some. read more

Everything is in the wrong spot and when you ask question they look at you like you're speaking a foreign language. When Pittsburg Work World opened they were larger and have since relocated to a smaller store. When they opened I went in to buy Ben Davis pants and I encountered very weird and out of control Work World employees. It was as if they hired people from a mental institution. As I was searching for my size an older female Work World employee asked if I needed assistance and I declined. She then stood close to me and began rummaging through the shelved Ben Davis pants trying to touch me. I told her in no uncertain terms that her advances were not appreciated. She wandered away. There was a Work World employee who sat in the Pittsburg Work World store window and yelled insults. While I was in the store I heard him but I couldn't locate him. When I walked out of Work World I saw him sitting in the window. Then a North Point security car showed up and the guard got out of said car and was talking with said Work World employee through the pane of glass. I left and returned a few years later to find Pittsburg Work World downsized. I could not locate the Ben Davis shelves. As I was looking for the Ben Davis shelves I happened to touch a pair of pants to feel the fabric texture and I continued looking. Two Work World employees were scoping me out and the female of the pair said something about me and the male of the pair told her that I was just a regular guy who was shopping. I found that to be strange. They then walked into the back room. There was another Work World employee who was watching me and he then traced my entire path and touched the pants that I touched. I found that to be bizarre. I finally found the Ben Davis shelves. The Work World employees did not replace the Ben Davis sign. Work World reduced the Ben Davis selection by over eighty percent . I selected a pair to try on and the dressing room was locked so I had to find an employee to unlock the door. Someone then began trying to open the door and it was some drunk person who was meandering around the store. I returned a few weeks later to exchange two pair and when I neared the Ben Davis shelves it was blocked by a ladder and a heavy rolling work cart. An older female Work World employee was just standing around. She asked me if I needed to have the ladder and cart removed and I told her that it would be nice. She should not have placed the ladder and cart in an area that would block access in the first place. She was old enough to know better yet chose not to care. She then ordered me to place my two pair of Ben Davis that I was holding "on the counter". I told the woman not to talk to me that way and that she could talk to her her husband that way, but not me. Just then a chubby female Work World employee yelled, "Don't talk to her that way in my store!" Unfortunately said chubby female Work World employee was the one who did the exchange. Her stomach and sides were hanging over her pants and her small shirt exposed it all. She wasn't the well dressed person who should be an example in a store that sells clothing. And she was smiling so she was obviously enjoying the conflict she created. She then got on the phone and called North Point security and requested a security guard to come by. Much like they did years ago. After a long exchange of unnecessary information that was intended to keep me there so North Point security could walk in and confront me, I left. Before I left, I was given a new receipt and I wanted my original receipt returned as well but the chubby Work World employee refused to return it and waved it around and since I have fast hands I snatched it out of her hand, much to her shock. She then began yelling at me as I walked away and she wanted me to return my receipt and I told her to come and take it from me. She then yelled that I wasn't welcomed in "her" store and I said that I wasn't going to return to this "sxxx hole". North Point security followed me when I went into Target and the security guard would not look me in the eye as I confronted him and he ran away. And since Work World sees fit to deny a pregnant woman access to restroom facilities and employs rude, weird and obnoxious people I will speculate that at least this branch of Work World will go out of business. The bizarre rebuttal by the offending Work World employee only added insult to injury. He made a very bad mistake and was content to exonerate himself and he had the audacity to ask the offended female to return to the Work World store and spend more of her hard earned money. read more
