my mom & i got food poisoning after eating at this restaurant. we had major stomach aches & very unpleasant visits to the restroom for 2 whole days. we were unable to eat anything afterwards & were severely ill. beware at all cost!!!! my mom & i got the crab cake & my mom got the sliced beef salad for the appetizer, the rossini filet for the main, & one cheesecake and one passion fruit tart for dessert. i'm unsure which of our items caused us to be ill since we shared most of our items. all the items were extremely underwhelming & nothing stood out to me. the crab cake was dry and flavorless. the steak was not tender at all & the sauces around the steak didn't pair well. the desserts tasted like they were frozen & thawed the day of. to add on, the service was very subpar. the cost to dine here doesn't equate to the service that was given. overall, i wouldn't recommend coming here. read more

I had no idea a place with views like this existed in Wan Chai. For optimal dining experience, play Drake's Views album. Although the laidback tunes they bump here are actually really nice and a great way to enjoy Sunday lunch. Their lunch set consists of a soup starter, and your choice of appetizer. We went with crab cakes, which are solid by HK standards but average/below average by New England standards. The main courses are fantastic - see the pictures! The bread they give you here is phenomenal - I've no idea what they do to it but I'd come back just for the bread. We've been eating bread wrong our whole lives. Whole grain, whole shmain. Service here was great although the sparkling water is absurdly expensive. 70 HKD for a bottle of sparkling is mind boggling. Heard this place has a nice rooftop too - highly recommend a return visit! read more

This review is purely based on my experience at the rooftop bar and not the restaurant. The boyfriend loves rooftop bars and wanted to take me out to this one. He said the views were nice and the atmosphere was chill. He was right! We were immediately seated with our bottle of wine, and got to enjoy the view of Hong Kong. Much like the other Wooloomooloo locations, this place is touristy with many not being locals. If this is not what you are looking for, then I highly recommend going elsewhere. Staff was accommodating and friendly. If you want a laid back night with nice views, this is a place to consider! This review is only for the rooftop bar. I have yet to enjoy their steak, though I would have loved to have the opportunity. I love the view from the top, and their bar is very nice. A reasonable list of cocktails etc, and the ambiance is lively but chill. The music is on but it's not so loud that you can't speak or hear. The crowd isn't too crowded, and they do a good job helping you get a table if you want one. It's easy to sit or stand without bumping butts, and it's a lovely, classy affair. This isn't a bar for those with a fear of heights, but there are worse ways to see Hong Kong from the sky. read more

I came here to meet with some friends for a drink on Wooloomooloo's rooftop bar. It was a hot and humid night so it was interesting to be sitting out there whilst my hair started frizzing up. Our seats were near the glass railings and the view was pretty spectacular. We enjoyed our drinks and conversation. Rooftop bar review Came on a Tuesday night around 8:30pm and it was semi decently packed for a school night. We managed to get a table for four and THE.VIEW.WAS.AMAZING!!! All the buildings lit up the sky! The drinks were on the heftier side we got 2 beers, glass of red and Jamison on the rocks and I believe it came out to 472HK$ but with a view like that, I'm just going to keep my mouth shut. Staff was friendly and attentive. They refilled our peanuts a few times and checked in on us often. Pop-ish music was blasting during this HOT summer night. Thank God for the plethora of fans, there was a breeze blowing through our hair, making it bearable to sit out there. Dress code states smart casual and I wore a cotton mini shirt with a cute sleeveless shirt with cute tennis shoes (due to all the walking) and I got in with no problem. Review 3,300 (#1) goes to one of the more unique venues in HK, Wooloomooloo Steakhouse. The name alone screams attention, but one many first timers do not know is that aside from the having a fun name, it is a premier steakhouse with strong drinks and a killer view. The latter may be one of the best in terms of rooftop views, I've had many a drink at their infamous rooftop. The view is breathtaking; one can get a real sense of the skyline and reminds me a lot of the Top fo the Rock view in NYC. It oozes all sorts of sexy vibes and endless selfies for people ooh'ing and awe'ing over the edge. No doubt, this is one of the best options for outdoor / rooftop dining in the Hong Kong, bar none. There is no elevator to the top, but a nice stairwell from their equally bougie dining room. Initially, I thought Wooloomooloo (purely by name alone) would have be something like an Outback Steakhouse, but it's far more than that. Western food in HK always has an air of pretension with it, even when it's half heartily executed. I do recall having an excellent rib eye here, but our appetizers were laughable portion wise, and not at all memorable. The next time I'm here and dropping $$$ for food, I'm going for their biggest steak in the house. Or perhaps, I won't eat at all. The cocktails, view, and good company alone would have me savoring the evening like no other. The staff is usually laid back enough to let me know do as I please. Another big tip: arrive early and claim a spot up top. For years, Wanchai is famous for their causal, sleazy bars on Lockhart Road. It is almost hard to believe that we can find a nice rooftop bar here. However, having Wooloomooloo, located on the rooftop of The Hennessy, you can now see the other and better side of Wanchai. This place has some of the best views across Victoria Harbour, Wan Chai and Happy Valley. There is no better introduction to the mind-blowing Hong Kong skyline than this. I can say Wooloomooloo is one of my favourite rooftop bars so far. Although it doesn't have the biggest venue or a prime location like Ozone bar, I like this place a lot. Since this place is not overwhelming huge, it creates a warm and hearty atmosphere, which always drives me back. Also, getting drinks at the roof is a lot cheaper than having a full meal at their steakhouse just one floor below. So, if you want to enjoy the view without spending a fortune, just head to the roof! The view was ridiculously beautiful. I mean breathtaking, mind blowing beautiful. They could have served hot dogs and beer and I would give this place five stars. Fortunately, they didn't. I had a ribeye steak cooked black and blue...it was perfect. The mustards they served on the side were amazing even though I hated to mask the flavor of the steak even a little. The bread...I am not a bread person, but ate two or three of the little rolls. Mashed potatoes were the bomb. Crab cakes, wow. Everything was just wonderful. My steak was around $500HK. The rest of the check was picked up by other people so I can't speak to their costs. No matter what it was, it seemed well worth it. read more

Review is for the rooftop bar only, since I didn't get to eat at the restaurant. Awesome view! As others have mentioned, definitely a great spot to grab a drink while taking in views of the city. This is a different view than the standard HK skyline you would see from the Kowloon side, no better or worse, just a different angle. It is an open rooftop, so it can get chilly if the weather is cool. It is definitely more of a touristy/expat spot. Easier to get to and less pretentious than Ozone Bar. (Not to say you shouldn't check out the Ozone Bar, after all it is one of the highest bars in the world!). As for the steakhouse, my group tried to get a table for 4 after getting drinks. It was about 7pm and the restaurant looked completely empty, but the hostesses said it was all reserved. Such a shame but I've heard good things so be sure to make a reservation if you want to eat here. Tip -- "Wooloomooloo" is a city in Australia and it is pronounced wulumuLOO. Note: I am reviewing only the rooftop bar portion of this restaurant. I have yet to dine at the restaurant. This has got to be a local secret to the best view of in Wanchai! The view at night is spectacular, and photos do not do it any justice! I am a huge fan of this bar now. The ambience is chill and they play a good set of music throughout the night. The drinks are made very well and consistent. I recommend ordering the English Garden Mojito; I had three. We were able to get seating for four immediately because we showed up early around 9:30 to 10:00 pm. It did get a little bit more crowded later, but nothing too crazy. The restrooms are located on the 31st floor in conjunction with the dining portion of the restaurant. It can get a little busy at the restrooms, especially for the ladies! This is now my favorite place in Wanchai, and I will be coming back again and again after. read more

The lunch sets are disappointing and worthy of at most 3-stars. However the roof bar is worth 5-stars, with spectacular views all the way from Central to Happy Valley. Sure the drinks aren't cheap but you'd pay the same to stand outside a bar in Lan Kwai, so might as well get a place that highlights the amazing verticality of HK. Let me just start by saying that I've never actually had the food here. I've only been here for drinks. The rooftop floor of Wooloomooloo is fantastic, and their drinks aren't unreasonable. They are on par with drinks from other rooftop bars (~$80-140). I also love that they give you lightly spiced peanuts to snack on while you're catching up with your friends. In general, I find this to be a really chill spot to hang out. It is a little bit far from the MTR station, but it's not too bad. Come here if you want a chill night. read more

If you're so concerned with when the kitchen closes, why even bother to seat guests with a reserved table that actually arrived before time? I was at the rooftop bar and not the restaurant. Great view, and good attentive service. However for almost $20 USD each for cocktails, I thought they were only so-so after trying two. Although it took me about 10 minutes to get up to Wooloomooloo, it was worth it. Seriously, the lifts are messed up and when I got to the 31st floor the doors didn't open. Just a funny experience. Now, the place is great. Amazing views, nice classic deco. I had a reservation for two people and we were seated by the window, just at the table I had spotted since I stepped in. I guess it must be much better at night but it was already good enough. The whole restaurant is opened and it feels really nice. Although it was lunch time, half of the tables were empty. My friend and I went for the set lunch. Worth it? well you can have a starter and a grass fed sirloin for 168 HKD. The appetizer was a tomato and salmon (don't be fooled, just two tiny pieces) salad or a soup. I went for the salad which was okay, and my friend for the veggie soup (also a okay). My steak, medium rear, came with two tomatoes and a couple of Brussel sprouts as I didn't want any potato croquette but they were apparently the highlight of the dish, according to my friend. The steak was good, wouldn't say amaizing. After that, I ordered coffee and my friend went for the coconut dessert, a mix of ice cream and crème caramel and it seemed to be awesome (judging by the roll of his eyes). My conclusion, in general: great value for a set lunch where you also have a couple of other options (pasta and fish, both a little cheaper). Service pretty good. This is probably the best deal here, but I'm so much more looking forward to a proper steak next time, possibly for dinner. read more

Wait staff was average. The steaks were not flavorful or good cuts. My biggest issue is wine management. List indicates a 2013 Tignerello and post its rating of WS94. But they try to serve a 2011! When challenged, they had a single bottle of 2013. To my disappointed, the wine experienced heat aged effects taking the brilliance out of the wine. We came for the steak and the beautiful view of the city as it sits on the 31st floor of the building and we were not disappointed. I had the Steak Au poivre , the pepper corn sauce was mild and smooth "I would prefer a little more spicy" my filet cooked perfect medium rare, my daughter had the filet mignon with horseradish sauce, it was cooked to a perfect. Service was good but the girl took our order had no idea of the menu , which was a bit turn off in a fine restaurants like this, guess she is a trainees, but the second girl whom served us was very attentive and nice.
