Being keto-er, always look for nice steak with some good wine! Grill 28 is definitely a good option!

Last time we were there in March 2025 a new chef was just hired from Mexico. Everything tasted more authentic. The restaurant is a little hidden but follow your directions and all will be ok. Worth the time to find.

All expectations should be checked at the door when it comes to Tequila Jack's. This is a bar that…read moreis more about fun than it is about fajitas. It is more of a bar than it is a burrito joint. Come here for the drinks or for their attempt at Latin / Mexican bar food and bring some good company to boot. This is one of those places where a good time depends on who's drinking and who's not. The place has plenty of seating on the inside and quite a section for outdoor action. Folks can smoke and drink as they please outside with no problems. On the inside they have TVs galore, usually broadcasting Mexican soccer / futbol games. The staff is not pretentious and they have provided good service each time I'm here. Don't be nervous about trying to say the words on the menu, chances are the nearly app Nepalese staff might have trouble saying it too. Let's one thing straight: the "Mexican" food here is close to an abomination. Anyone coming here to get their fix of sopa tortilla or the next great mole poblano will be sorry they did. The bar is stacked with versions of bar friendly Mex, which includes nachos, quesadillas, and tacos. Most of the aforementioned is incredibly mediocre, but being that HK is not blessed with quality Mexican fare, the food at Tequila Jack's is hardly a surprise. Do however, indulge on their themed nights. On Saturday nights for example, is steak night for $108 each. It is a 10oz steak with some fixins like fries, veggies, and corn on the cob. I'm usually not terribly crazy about cheap steak but theirs is a slight exception. My steak has been cooked perfectly each time and the marbling / fat actually melts in your mouth. I have been here since the prices were $90 and the steak has been one of the only highlights food wise. On the drink front, they have a legit array of Mexican beers along with a stellar selection of tequila. It's probably the most abundant collection of tequila I've seen in the hood. The prices per shot aren't cheap ($140?) but if money doesn't matter as much the drunks are in their own league at TJ's. Lastly, if you're sitting outside at night: Watch out for our furry friends running around. They have caused quite a stir in the past. And *do not* feed them.

Con: There are not many other reasons you'd specifically come to this bar. Pro: They have almost twice the size of the original store. Con: It's a bit further away from the actual Causeway Bay, and further uphill. Pro: They have an amazing list of beers to choose from (well, amazing in terms of CWB's standard, not Soho's). Con: You have to be very patient to get a server, due to its prolonged corridor. It's a flaw by design. Pro: Unlimited peanuts and you can toss them on the floor. Hell YES. Con: It isn't really an "Inside out" anymore as most of the areas are indoors or covered. More cons: "membership" only (although it's like $20 a month, or you can tell the server that the friend of yours who is a member "is coming"). It closes relatively early to other bars, and also it lacks of other entertainment (darts, pools, etc.). But surely you can go to their professional pool room if you are keen. But as a sport bar, I still enjoy every bit of it, if not more than its original location, which was somehow always full.

My favorite has to be the creamy macaroni and cheese, my friend said it was a bit too creamy, but I just love it, and with the bacon bits, it tasted fantastic! I also ordered the hot wings, the waiter was very nice, as he warned us the sauce can be quite spicy for some, and asked if I want to have them on side instead. I was like: bring it on. The wings looked slightly skinnier than before, but taste wise, it is still there. Celery on the side looked a bit .. yellow though, but still crunchy!

A no frills kind of pub, Fatt's Place is an easy place to spot along the nightlife laden Hart Road…read more The open layout makes it an ideal spot for a beer, some good conversation (companion worthy!) and plenty of people watching. Another thing hard to ignore is all the peanut shells on the ground. Maybe it's just a decor gimmick or maybe (just maybe!) it's an opportunity for locals to feel the satisfaction of littering at a place where no one gets to litter ever. I've eaten my share of peanuts and happily contributed to the mounts of shells over the last few months. It's definitely kind of fun. I usually bring a drinking buddy or two to pregame here before heading to a few other nearby spots for food and more drink. Fatt's has a lot of tallboy action for stands, which are good for tall folks but that's really about it. There isn't a whole lot of room for group drinking action, but who really cares when you're standing on a bunch of empty peanut shells anyway? They do serve an pretty solid lineup of western foods, mainly bar / pub fare. It's just a shame I haven't really liked any of them. They tout their "big" burgers, but at $100HKD, I'm expecting something big and flavorful. Strangely enough they also serve marinated ribs ($265 for a full slab), sausages, and salads. I made a mistake one night and ordered their pasta / pizza, and it was no bueno. Instead, stick to the drinks and good company. Simple is good at Fatt's. Bottoms up.

The staff nodded, repeated the order, and got us two drinks. My friend was probably being too nice to not point out that the Hendrick's Ginger Ale was too light in Hendrick's and too much in ginger ale. But hey, now that we finished the first round of drinks, why didn't we order another round anyway, while waiting for another friend to come, before we headed to our dinner? Perfect, let me order a Hendrick's Tonic. "Sorry?" "Hendrick's. As in the gin." "So you want Gin Tonic?" Said the staff, who wasn't as confused when he took our first order. "Yes, but with this specific brand of Gin called Hendrick's." "Let me check if we have it..." "But it's on the menu?" I pointed at the menu, where clearly showing they did serve Hendrick's. "Oh right, surely." My friend now wondered if she really got a Hendrick's Ginger Ale. Oh yeah, you know that answer already when you are reading this, but we had to wait until the bill came to confirm. I'd have given them a 2-star if it's not a newly opened bar. Also, I asked for the address of the place (so that I could send to my friends coming over). Apparently it wasn't on any of their drink menu or leaflets. They didn't have a business card either. And they ended up giving me the receipt of some other table which finally got their address. Well, they had a big arse TV just happened to show Janet Hsieh on TLC. That got some of my very subjective points.

I would come back again just for this salad alone. The other dishes we tried though were a bit disappointing (good yelp reviews = high hopes): * The foie gras on the burger was ah-mazing (in words of my friend), but the burger itself was not great. * I was really looking forward to the shrimp po boy, and while it looked delicious, it was just okay with a heavy batter and little flavor. The flavors of the pork sandwich didn't work well together and the bread came soaked-through soggy. * The lobster broth pasta was well... noodles in strong lobster broth. * For dessert, we decided on the mascarpone donuts. Sad, deflated little puffs. It's worth noting that they are baked with mascarpone, not mascarpone-filled as we had hoped. Overall, food & service was okay. I'd stop by again if in the neighborhood but not worth coming to TST specifically for.
