Hostile Management Ruined a Professional Group Event…read more We visited last night after calling ahead the day before and being explicitly told no booking was needed for a large group. Yet, when we arrived with 12 directors and professionals on a quiet Monday night, the restaurant was almost empty, and the manager immediately told us off for not booking. He talked down to me, avoided eye contact, and made us feel entirely insignificant.We tried to have a calm conversation and mentioned we were spending money on a two-hour social gathering, but he restricted us to sit in the corner and strictly ordered us not to mingle with his patrons. He flatly stated he didn't care about our money, only his 'regulars.' To make matters worse, they forgot one of our food orders, and some of the food we did receive was subpar. It's a shame because the floor staff were sweet and kind, but hospitality starts from the top. I have never felt more unwelcome and treated with such hostility at an establishment. Avoid this place! Wasn't in the mood to take a picture I'm afraid.

I love how there's a food menu here too so you can snack while drinking! We tried a few beers, but the ones that stood out were the Honey Longan Lager and a sour Lingonberry Soursop Ale! The flavor combinations were great, and also unique finds you couldn't get at other shops! We ordered some food to eat as well - the garlic fries were VERY garlic-y, and we also got the lap cheung spread on bread. Think of pate but made with lap cheung! Super unique find as well. If you're into craft beers, then absolutely stop in The Ale Project if you're in the area!

As you'd expect with this type of bar its located in the hip and popular So-Ho area. You're gonna find plenty of bars selling bog standard lager around here, but not Craft Brew. These guys really stand out with their rather aggressive marketing of, "Craft not Crap" and you won't find any boring beers in here. To be honest these guys had some outstanding beer on when I was in. I was drinking their very own Kung Fu Lager and Summer Ale as I'd never seen them in the UK. Both were great examples of a modern, hoppy beer. They were super cold and refreshing, not cheap, (as you would expect) but totally worth it in my opinion. With its simple wooden tables and decoration, this is definitely like a craft beer bar you'd get in Europe. The music was pretty hit and miss (I mean Take That, really??) but it kinda made for a fun night. The place has plenty of seating on the inside and quite a section for outdoor action. Folks can smoke and drink as they please outside with no problems. On the inside they have TVs galore, usually broadcasting Mexican soccer / futbol games. The staff is not pretentious and they have provided good service each time I'm here. Don't be nervous about trying to say the words on the menu, chances are the nearly app Nepalese staff might have trouble saying it too. Let's one thing straight: the "Mexican" food here is close to an abomination. Anyone coming here to get their fix of sopa tortilla or the next great mole poblano will be sorry they did. The bar is stacked with versions of bar friendly Mex, which includes nachos, quesadillas, and tacos. Most of the aforementioned is incredibly mediocre, but being that HK is not blessed with quality Mexican fare, the food at Tequila Jack's is hardly a surprise. Do however, indulge on their themed nights. On Saturday nights for example, is steak night for $108 each. It is a 10oz steak with some fixins like fries, veggies, and corn on the cob. I'm usually not terribly crazy about cheap steak but theirs is a slight exception. My steak has been cooked perfectly each time and the marbling / fat actually melts in your mouth. I have been here since the prices were $90 and the steak has been one of the only highlights food wise. On the drink front, they have a legit array of Mexican beers along with a stellar selection of tequila. It's probably the most abundant collection of tequila I've seen in the hood. The prices per shot aren't cheap ($140?) but if money doesn't matter as much the drunks are in their own league at TJ's. Lastly, if you're sitting outside at night: Watch out for our furry friends running around. They have caused quite a stir in the past. And *do not* feed them.

Lobster Bar is special. Not only is it located in Island Shangri-La hotel (which screams high end customer service), but Lobster Bar takes unique great pride in their establishment as a Taj Mahal of crafted cocktails in Hong Kong. A friend of mine back in Las Vegas told me that this bar was on a Top 10 list she recently read about. Being a full time martini drinker who takes a vacation from my beverage of choice in the summer time, I was blown away by my experience with their crafted cocktails at Lobster Bar last night. The ambiance of the Lobster Bar that spills into the well-appointed Lobster Grill is welcoming. Light blues, detailed stained glass windows, hard woods, maroons, great lighting...everything is there to enjoy your time at the bar or in one of their comfy couches. After ordering our two drinks, be prepared for a little wait time. Not because the bartender is busy with throngs of customers, but because of the time, care and preparation that goes into making these special concoctions. Really quite special a special craft. We enjoyed a Genever Smash and a Lemon Sherbet Bishop. Order a drink, take a sip and then ask to relook at the drink menu to see the ingredients. The ingredients and flavors come to life when you see them and then consume them at the same time. I realize that booze is a time old tradition shared by millions across the world. Lobster Bar is special and a twist to this tradition. You can get a drink anywhere, but do yourself a favor and go to Lobster Bar and order one of their crafted cocktails.
