The staff nodded, repeated the order, and got us two drinks. My friend was probably being too nice to not point out that the Hendrick's Ginger Ale was too light in Hendrick's and too much in ginger ale. But hey, now that we finished the first round of drinks, why didn't we order another round anyway, while waiting for another friend to come, before we headed to our dinner? Perfect, let me order a Hendrick's Tonic. "Sorry?" "Hendrick's. As in the gin." "So you want Gin Tonic?" Said the staff, who wasn't as confused when he took our first order. "Yes, but with this specific brand of Gin called Hendrick's." "Let me check if we have it..." "But it's on the menu?" I pointed at the menu, where clearly showing they did serve Hendrick's. "Oh right, surely." My friend now wondered if she really got a Hendrick's Ginger Ale. Oh yeah, you know that answer already when you are reading this, but we had to wait until the bill came to confirm. I'd have given them a 2-star if it's not a newly opened bar. Also, I asked for the address of the place (so that I could send to my friends coming over). Apparently it wasn't on any of their drink menu or leaflets. They didn't have a business card either. And they ended up giving me the receipt of some other table which finally got their address. Well, they had a big arse TV just happened to show Janet Hsieh on TLC. That got some of my very subjective points.

If you attended university in the United States, you would probably be perfectly familiar with the…read moreterm Beer Pong. Well, nowadays, the term beer pong is no longer a game that is only played by college students in university. It has become quite a popular phenomenon. Having studied abroad for 4 years in an institute that surprisingly embodied very smart students who were exceptionally good at beer pong, I became quite competitive at the sport myself. Yes, it is considered a sport on campus and in college culture, one might get major points if he/she is known to be good at it. If you look at the game itself, it looks ridiculous. You have two teams at the ends of a beer pong table aiming to shoot ping pong balls into cups of beer shaped in a diamond, in which you gulp down, if the aimed ball gets in. I know, it sounds stupendously absurd of a game. At one point you might think what must have compelled a generation of students to create this game and have it become so wildly popular. Those geniuses. However, I assure you, there is strategy involved. After one too many losses or you might say "beers" one's judgement undeniably gets impaired and depending on different people, your beer pong skills can either improve or decline and one team is either the winner or the loser. The punishment is lots of beer, the prize is a few minutes of glory for you and your team mates. It's all a very interesting game. As you can imagine, when my friend told me there was a place in Hong Kong where you can hang out with your friends and play BEER pong I was very enthused to say the least. Zerve, (which I think is a great name) is located in Causeway bay and is pretty much a sport bar that has the sickest beer pong tables you have ever seen. A typical college beer pong table is not the size of a ping pong table, it is shorter and narrower. Zerve has the accurate size, BUT it also lights up looks like it might belong in a star wars movie. The only downfall is that there are only two tables so in order to play you must line up, but thats ok. I was surprised to see so many people into this game that I thought only college people played! Definitely brought back memories and happy to see the game being globally accepted as another bar game like pool or darts. I was a little out of practise and rusty but had a blast nonetheless! With Zerve in Hong Kong, there is one more place I can count on to have a good time with my friends! There are also pool tables, TV's playing various sport channels and dart machines. It is a typical PLAYGROUND for you and your friends to hang out. Everyone is there to have a good time and Im pretty sure you will. Definitely check it out if you haven't already.

Hostile Management Ruined a Professional Group Event…read more We visited last night after calling ahead the day before and being explicitly told no booking was needed for a large group. Yet, when we arrived with 12 directors and professionals on a quiet Monday night, the restaurant was almost empty, and the manager immediately told us off for not booking. He talked down to me, avoided eye contact, and made us feel entirely insignificant. We tried to have a calm conversation and mentioned we were spending money on a two-hour social gathering, but he restricted us to sit in the corner and strictly ordered us not to mingle with his patrons. He flatly stated he didn't care about our money, only his 'regulars.' To make matters worse, they forgot one of our food orders, and some of the food we did receive was subpar. It's a shame because the floor staff were sweet and kind, but hospitality starts from the top. I have never felt more unwelcome and treated with such hostility at an establishment. Avoid this place! Wasn't in the mood to take a picture I'm afraid.

The only reason I'm giving this place one star is for their basket of chips (or fries/thick potato…read moreslices) and many TV screens broadcasting live sports. Otherwise everything else is just downright awful. My friend ordered a pot of Earl Grey tea (Twinings) because he didn't want to start drinking alcohol too early in the afternoon. When we asked them to refill the tea pot with hot water, they sternly replied, "Oh, we don't do refills." First, RUDE. Second, if you're charging $44 for a SMALL pot of tea, we'd better be getting a refill. Yes you may be wondering why we're having tea at a sports bar, but if they can't even provide proper and FAIR customer service at a non-alcoholic level, they shouldn't even in business. How about a glass of hot water instead? My friend went to inquire about hot water. Oh sorry, they don't offer hot water either. At first, I thought they were kidding. So I went around back to the bathroom, and afterwards, asked a waitress who was manning a electric water kettle if I could have a glass of water. You know what she said? "I'm sorry, we don't have hot water." And I pointed out the electric water kettle right in front of me, "But you're boiling hot water right now!" "That's for tea. If you want hot water, you can order hot lemon tea, which costs $39--" HOW IN THE WORLD CAN YOU OFFER HOT TEA BUT NOT HOT WATER?! ARE YOU THAT STINGY?! IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE AT ALL. About an hour later, I asked for some tap water to accompany my beer. They brought an glass of ice water with lemon. How nice, I thought. A slice of lemon too? How considerate of them. But too much ice and not enough water left me asking for a refill. "Can I have some more water please?" I asked politely. "Oh sorry, our boss does not allow us to give out water. You have to buy bottled water." WHAT THE HECK?! Absolutely the worst restaurant/bar experience I have ever had in HK, let alone, in the whole entire world. Poor service. Oh and the fries? They were nice and crisp at the start, but livable without. I would gladly pay for fries elsewhere but The Doghouse. Am I returning? Never in a million years.

The TVs always have a rugby or Australian Rules Football match and the menu has some favorites from down under. The patrons and staff are friendly and the seating layout is good. But that's where it ends. The food is very unsatisfactory in taste, texture and temperature. And speaking of temperature, this is the first bar I ever went to in Hong Kong with no air conditioning. Hard to look pretty when you're sweating like Niagara Falls! There are far too many bars in Wan Chai to settle for bad food and uncomfortable temperature.

Con: There are not many other reasons you'd specifically come to this bar. Pro: They have almost twice the size of the original store. Con: It's a bit further away from the actual Causeway Bay, and further uphill. Pro: They have an amazing list of beers to choose from (well, amazing in terms of CWB's standard, not Soho's). Con: You have to be very patient to get a server, due to its prolonged corridor. It's a flaw by design. Pro: Unlimited peanuts and you can toss them on the floor. Hell YES. Con: It isn't really an "Inside out" anymore as most of the areas are indoors or covered. More cons: "membership" only (although it's like $20 a month, or you can tell the server that the friend of yours who is a member "is coming"). It closes relatively early to other bars, and also it lacks of other entertainment (darts, pools, etc.). But surely you can go to their professional pool room if you are keen. But as a sport bar, I still enjoy every bit of it, if not more than its original location, which was somehow always full.
