This is my go to place for stains, woodworking books, router bits, and general questions about finishing or anything woodworking related. This is a store that deals with 100% woodworking. If looking for the cheapest sandpaper or stain this place isn't for you. If you however want to buy a tool that lasts or finishing products that aren't manufactured in China, this is worth checking out.
Staff: This is where this place really shines, everyone that works there is a seasoned woodworker whether it be a professional or a seasoned hobbyist, and they can explain to you in intelligent conversation how products differ (ie a gel stain as compared to a liquid stain). The real standout for me is Jim (kind of looks like Chuck Norris's long lost brother if he had a ponytail... he also has an affinity for denim). Not only is he knowledgable but he is also super patient., even after asking him a million questions (if I was him if I saw me I would run and hide in the back of the store... I'll easily take up 10-15 min of his time).
Tools: What they don't have in the store they can order but popular brands include, Sawstop, Festool, Jet, Powermatic, Nova and so on. Their instore inventory for most of the stand alone tools is understandably low given the size of the place, but they will deliver to your door for any big tools you order.
Wood: Their wood selection is pretty good, but the pieces are generally smaller, better for turning like pen or bowl blanks.
Classes/Demonstrations: Normally once or twice a month they'll have a demonstration on the weekend showing you how to safely use/maintain a tool or even make something like a salt and pepper shaker (all free BTW)
Sales: Big tool Vendors like Jet often have 15% off sales and they also have good deals around holidays or tax free weekend.
Bottom Line: If you want a quality new tool for woodworking check this place out, I'm so stoked I live within 15 min of this place. read more
