We just moved to Somers, and Somers Star Hardware has been so convenient and helpful. Because I am…read moreat high risk medically, we've been isolating as much as possible, only ordering online and going to stores where they've got no-contact measures in place. We were very happy to find out that Somers Star Hardware cares A LOT about the health and safety of all. My husband most recently needed his propane tank filled, and called the store to see what they'd be willing to do for a contact-free fill. The ladies there went above and beyond, with so much empathy and understanding. I was so grateful, I cried. (Yes, pandemic life makes me even more grateful for the good people working to make everyday stuff accessible and yet keep conditions safe.) Thank you so much, Somers Star Hardware, for your compassionate personal "touch" (of no touching! lol). We are huge fans of yours!

There are a few things in life that don't improve with technology, large volume sales and the idea…read morethat one store can do it all. Star Hardware is a testament to how things used to be and how there is no room or need in small town America for the big box stores that bring very little value to the smaller communities across this country. Where can you go to get your window screens repaired, keys cut and your propane bottles filled while you wait and a place you can carry on a conversation about your home project with an employee that really understands what you're talking about and can offer real solutions and short cuts that will save you time, money and a lot of frustration and ask you about your family or a local event you both attended. I've been to this location many times and have yet to be disappointed. This friendly hometown store is not only convenient with competitive pricing, it gives back to the local community so the dollars you spend here benefits the local schools, community programs, community sports and clubs. Buying local isn't just about doing the right thing it's about keeping the right things alive in your community.

While this particular location didn't carry everything that it's New Hartford store does, the Enfield store is still pretty amazing. You'll find what you need for garden & yard needs, animal feeding, clothes, and whatnot needed to be self-sufficient. If you've never been, I think you will enjoy the visit. These stores seem to be what the General Stores used to be back in the Wild West days. My photos show you only a sampling of some of the impressive products that can be found here.

Sounded like she didn't know what it was and also said No. So, I ordered it online for pick up. When I first called and asked I was 30 minutes away. When I got there a worker was saying next time wait 40 minutes for one item... Honestly think that's ridiculous that they were upset about that. It wasn't like my order was 10 items and I came in 5 minutes...

Carr is a smaller chain that merged with our beloved Brightwood Hardware in Longmeadow…read more Their merchandise and selection is great, and I like the fact that I don't have to walk miles in a store to find what I need. And all I have to do is tell a sales person what I need and they immediately find it for me. They offer many personalized services, such as replacing window screens, sharpening tools, etc., that larger stores do not. I'm hoping they maintain one special section of the old Brightwood store. It was this: whenever I needed a GOOD QUALITY screw or some unusual size, I could always find it. The problem with chain stores is that items like these are made of a lower quality metal and the heads tend to strip when turned too hard. Their new location is very convenient and there's more than adequate parking. And I like the fact that, when we shop here, we're supporting a local business!

The complete disregard for my time and attitude put a sour note in my mouth. I won't be back and I will drive the extra 20 minutes for 1/2 the cost as the convience and bad service aren't worth it for me anymore.
