Absolutely amazing selection of products, some of which are typically very difficult to find. Additionally, the staff was quite friendly and extremely knowledgeable/helpful, willing to answer any questions and offering amazing advice. One of my hobbies is woodworking (when I have the time), another is being a musician. Put the two together and you get a woodworker that wants to learn to make his own instruments. I recently attended a class to do just that at Woodcraft. First, I have to say, the person who is just learning to make instruments should NOT start from scratch raw wood and very little idea of how to proceed. Even a book or two and a set of plans and drawings isn't going to help (although those books and plans are widely available). What Woodcraft does, is gear this class to any level of woodworker, whether a beginner or a very experienced or master cabinetmaker and sends them down the path to learn the basics of how an instrument goes together. Yes, we all started with a kit guitar, but we had to shape the neck, insert and file the frets, drill the holes, shape the bracing and a number of other "basics" related to making a guitar. The manager of the store, Herb, taught the class. One of the things about teaching a class like this is having life experiences to share with the class, having a sense of humor and be willing to field every question that comes at a person. Herb handles all of this with poise. Not everything about the store or the class are perfect. In fact, when it looked like we were not going to finish our instruments in the specified amount of time, Herb extended the class for a few more sessions. The store itself doesn't stock all of my woodworking needs and at times I think the wood is a bit pricey, but at least a person can look at the lumber they're buying here, as opposed to having to buy something from a discount lumberyard online, have it shipped and not be able to check the condition before it arrives. The lumber here is pretty good quality. Most of the tools are also pretty good quality. For the person who wants to steer clear of cheap deals on garbage tools, it makes sense to talk to Herb. For instance, I bought a set of Groz planers and I got to talking to Herb about the trouble I was having tuning them to work properly and what he told me was to bring them back and buy something different. Regarding supplies, if they don't have it, Herb can tell me my next best option as to where to get it (especially if I need it that day), or he can see if he can order it if I'm willing to wait a week for an item. A Good store with a mix of product quality - remember one thing about tools - you usually get what you pay for, but that doesn't justify spending $2000 on a table saw that will do almost everything for you except mark your board, cook your dinner, or wash your dishes; or maybe it will? What I like most about this woodcraft, is the variety of shop ideas, plans, paints and polys they carry as well as some oddball pieces of lumber every now and then. I like looking for the oddball pieces of lumber - if it's unique (and sturdy), it needs to be used on something I'm making in my shop. read more

I support local shops for my hobbies since these are the places that will save your bacon when you're halfway through a project and you need supplies. Still, Woodcrafts store is one I probably won't be patronizing in the future. Which is too bad since they really have a lot of the items I need and want, but I dont feel welcome in this store. The staff was cold, unwelcoming and rude in my opinion and when I have other options in the area, that's enough for me. read more

I simply would like to access your site to be able to search for what I need without having to establish an account. As I remember when I lived in Raleigh I could walk into your store and shop. I now live about an hour and a half away. If I can't access your product inventory on line, I will certainly not drive to your store to find out you don't carry what I need. Ok. About the prices - Woodcraft is where professional furniture makers go to buy tools that their children will inherit. It isn't the only place they go, but it is geared toward the enthusiast hobbyist and the professional. Yes, what looks like a framing saw that you can get at Home Depot for $59 sells here for more than $600, but that is because it is not that simple and unreliable framing saw. It is a Festool System track saw that will outlast 20 of those framing saws and provide a quality of cut that you would like to have as a customer of that professional finishing carpenter who uses this Festool saw. read more

I walked into this store the other week looking for some lumber storage racks and found what I wanted but they were no longer on sale. I told the associate I would wait for them to come back on sale as it would have saved me 30%. He stepped aside and came back saying that they would honor the previous sale price that expired a month earlier. I couldn't believe it!! I was never a big fan of Woodcraft because they have always been firm about their pricing, which was always full MSRP. Well apparently they have been getting their butts kicked from online vendors and realized they would have to price match and seem to be doing so now. Kudos to them for recognizing a problem and fixing it! This store is finally doing what it takes to gain repetitive customers. As a professional woodworker, I hope this will be their M.O. as I am always needing tools and such and want to be sure I am paying true market value for the items I need. As long as they keep this up, I will be a loyal customer! read more

I've been here 4 time now. 3 of those times I've asked for help and the guy working there doesn't bother to get up. He doesn't even stop looking at his computer. I've never bought anything because I can't get any customer service. I'm not sure how they stay in business. read more

This is a great place to go if you are a woodworking hobbyist. They just about always have what I am looking for. But from my experience over the past year or so, there is an employee there that is not pleasant to deal with. I literally try to avoid this person when in the store and checking out.
