From the beginning of our interaction, my dad just asked to make sure if they had coconuts as a joke and she was not pleased. The lady here also decided to choose like the worst coconut for us as if it was on purpose. Not sure how you run a coconut stand and can't tell what coconut is good??Ours was so hard and not enjoyable. She also didn't even fully open it and it's not like there was anyone else waiting -- it was just us and our family. I'd recommend to just keep driving on the highway and get your coconut fix elsewhere. The service here just wasn't great.

It's located on the front yard of a property and has parking available for a few cars. They accept both cash and venmo payments. The coconuts were reasonably priced and had plenty of fresh coconut water. Once you finish the coconut water, they'll cut it open for you so you can enjoy the coconut meat. There are lots of chickens, roosters and geese on the property and they aren't aggressive. It was fun to feed them while we were there.

At Frankie's Nursery we continue striving to provide you with the best cultivars since 1979" Visitors are welcome to explore the nursery ground, only where our tropical and subtropical fruit trees are for sale. We have a fruit stand selling our daily harvested fruits from our mature trees, and an assortment of homemade delicious tropical juices. Fruits for sale vary depending on seasons. For example, mangoes are primarily available in summer and durians are in the winter. Please call for more information on availability. Stolen from - https://www.frankiesnurseryllc.com/ Da wahine heard about Frankie's from one of her friends and was adamant about visiting the farm. So off the farm we went... Drive slow, not need to ruin your car, the road is a bit rough when you start going deep into the nursery. Frankie's is on the Windward side, but basically in the mountains. You really need to know where you are going, it's most definitely off the beaten path. Cell reception starts to get much weaker... almost non existent. There are a healthy variety of plants for you to purchase, Frankie's is after all a nursery. But the main focus of this trip was to try the exotic fruits. They sell a variety of exotic fruits from around the world. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and will gladly tell you about the fruits. They do have cut fruit platters for you to try, just make sure you bring a cooler bag, it's a journey onto itself to get here. There are few picnic tables in the back for you to enjoy fresh fruits, along with a hand washing station and a restroom. #ExoticFruits: ~ BLACK SAPOTE topped off with Whipped Cream - 5/5 Amazing. A MUST TRY! I never had anything like this. Nature's Chocolate Pudding!! ~ Exotic Fruit platter - 4.5/5 The platter changes on a regular basis... depending on availability and seasons. I never heard of some of these fruits. The best way to try a little of everything. Some of the fruits were delish, some very strange. I'd love to return and try some of the other fruits.

One of my fondest childhood memories is going to Tamashiro Market with my dad…read more When we lived in Kalihi, this was our usual spot. And even after we moved, we would still drive out just to come here for the seafood. That's how special it was to us. The reason why he chose Tamashiro over other grocery stores was simple--it was quality and because of my Nanay (grandma). His mom purchased from here and made so many delicious dishes. He knew what to look for, and he trusted this place. For him, it wasn't just about buying food... it was about getting the best for his family. My dad isn't the type to say "I love you." He shows it. One of the biggest ways he showed love was through his cooking. Even after a long day on his feet cooking for others, he would come home and cook for us. That was his way of taking care of us. I loved coming here with him. It was a five-senses overload--the smell of fresh seafood, the sound of people talking story, the colors of fish on display. Back then when you were allowed to sample a grape or poke to make sure it was good before buying. But more than that, it was time with him. I still remember the excitement I felt when I saw the pink building with the huge crab. I thought back then was to look at everything but now I understand that it meant something more..... something special--time with my dad. It's with a sad heart that Tamishiro Market is now closed. Thank you, Tamashiro, for providing quality food and memories for so many years. You were more than a market--you were part of my childhood

Great local market in the heart of Chinatown…read more The fresh Hawaiian papayas and dragonfruit were so delicious. Perfect for breakfast on the hotel balcony. The papayas were around 2 for $3. Everything is weighed to determine the price. Bring cash and a reusable grocery bag. Enjoy!

Upon approach to our fave Chinese roasters, I noticed ABC Market with its fresh locally (some imported) grown fruits and vegetables displays. ABC Market has been in O'ahu Market's stall #25 for some time now but it took me until today to stop, browse and make a purchase. As I browsed through the fruits and produce, I managed to purchase a couple of Hawaiian papayas, green onions and bitter melon. The papayas are still green but I don't usually buy ripe papayas because they ripen quite quickly so these will ripen over the next couple of days. But, the green onions aka scallions and bitter melon were fresh looking and priced competitively with the other nearby fruit and vegetable vendors. The cashier was soft spoken as she weighed our papayas and then the bitter melon before telling us how much to pay. Our total bill only came up $6.25. I don't think that this vendor takes credit or debit cards as most vendors in Chinatown are CASH ONLY. She packed our papayas, scallions and bitter melons in separate plastic bags which made it easier for us to put into our Yelp reusable tote bag. We'll be back either in a couple of days as I was eyeing the soursop and egg fruits but didn't get them today since we walked into town and didn't want to lug home too heavy bags.
