The first delivery from Oahu Fresh was delicious!
    Joojoo N.

An online farmer's market is just great and I do appreciate that an option is there to make my own selection. I am very thankful that this service is available and appreciate the effort that is made to feed those of us who prefer to not venture out too often during the COVID-19 crisis. The service is super; I have received very prompt and personable replies to my e-mails. Further, on the day of delivery, the carrier texted and phoned me, which was much appreciated. The bag of produce was still cold and nicely packaged and clean. I look forward to my next delivery and to see what other products will be available for the order after that.

    So fresh and tasty

Oahu Fresh is such a game changer!! It is the perfect way to support local farmers when all the markets are shut down. All of the produce I've received has been super fresh and delivered on time by an incredibly friendly team (shout-out to Lisa - our trusty delivery person!). The cucumbers especially are some of the tastiest I've ever had, but really all the produce is great. Since they have been scaling their operations, my order was missing an item or two, but the team was so quick to respond and credited my account for next weeks order. Their customer service team is really responsive and helpful! I also love how I can customize my delivery every week, and appreciate all the add-on options - like my favorite Ulu Manna Hummus or Waialua coffee. Every aspect of the experience with Oahu fresh has been amazing - highly recommend!

We've been ordering Oahu fresh for over a year now. Always dependable and easy meals. Everything's prepared in a container ready to be cooked with easy to follow instructions. We always get the produce and the meals - produce is good quality, lychee in photo. Delivery is available for military installations as well. Comes in a sustainable and reusable box.

Not only is the produce from Oahu Fresh delicious, super fresh, and so pretty, but it's also such an amazing variety!! My kids and hubby are obsessed with the lettuce we receive and I love that I get my favorites on rotation. I love eggplant, zucchini, sweet potatoes etc - but my family does not. Luckily I no longer feel guilty buying them for myself bc now I just say, "no worries! I'll eat that!" I thought we were just doing Oahu Fresh for the pandemic but they've made me a customer for the long haul!

Really loving my Oahu Fresh orders! It is $24 a week- let's address the elephant in the room first- that is a lot of money for a weekly grocery bag. I've heard this from many people, including people who tried Oahu Fresh. However, in my opinion, it is a good value for the price. One of the best parts is the weekly email newsletter with the items in your bag, the growers, an update and recipes! I have really loved trying new recipes to use all of the vegetables. (Let's be honest- how many people have tried Daikon?!) Each week you get some sort of greens bag- so you can always count on having weekly salads! Other things that have been in the bag include: - mushrooms (button and portabella) - squash (different kinds!) - tomatoes (vine and baby) - jalapeños - corn - cucumbers - carrots - lemongrass - bananas - starfruit - clementines - limes .... and much more! At times there has been produce that has not been fully ripe or has been a little over ripe but this is par for the course when you are handling fresh produce, in my opinion. Remaining loyal to this company has paid off with more accessible produce, new meal ideas and nutrition for my whole family! You can also elect to add specialty items to your bag- as a one time thing or weekly. I usually add eggs to my bag. The prices are similar to whole foods so I feel like the price is right. They also offer honey, coffee, meats, fish and even whole meal plans. Oahu Fresh recently made our school a delivery location for friends and family. They even donate the delivery fee to our under-funded school. It's great to know that the organization is doing great things in our community as well as connecting people with local produce.

Cucumber was delivered like this in a sealed bag. They cut it before they packaged it! Gross! Any germs could be in there.

This is a great idea, and I really loved knowing about the farms that my food came from each week while I was subscribed. HOWEVER, it is very, very poor value for the price, and the food is not always in the best condition. I paid about $25 a month. It was very nice to have the food delivered to our house each week. The amount of food you get for the money is very little for the price, meaning you could buy about 3x's this amount of food from Safeway for the price... but I was happy to try new things each week and to feel good about doing something nice for the local farmers. Until things started to get really bad and they did not respond to my emails about my concerns. For starters, I ordered an add-on item in August that I never received. It shows up as delivered in my account, but I did not ever get it. Some times you will get food that has already gone bad. That happened to me a couple of times, and I just let it slide without complaining, you know, to support local. Last week, however, was the worst. The "stir fry vegetables" (they never tell you what these greens are) had bug pods on them. AND my cucumber was delivered as a half. Half. Meaning before they delivered it to me, they decided it was a good idea to cut it in half. Mind you, that is not only kind of cheap, but more importantly, it is unsanitary. Once the innards of a vegetable or fruit are exposed to the environment, any germs or nasty things from the outside can just get right up in there. So basically, the cucumber was not edible. Both of these were deal breakers for us. When you get a huge bag of herbs, are you going to inspect every single leaf? Because usually you don't need to. Usually, the distributor has protocols for making sure that their product is bug-free and sanitary. I have visited farms before, and they had a good enough product that you could pick the herbs off of the ground and taste them. They did not have parasites growing on their food because they kept it clean. If you are eating the stir fry veggies from Oahu Fresh, though, please look at every single little tiny leaf front and back before you toss it into your wok. If you don't, there is a chance there are bugs on some of them (see picture). After seeing that, I wasn't able to think about eating those again without being a little disgusted. The worst part was that when I contacted him about it over the span of a week, I got NO response to my emails or phone calls. And I was very polite about it, by the way. So I'm not going to subscribe any more. So there you go, folks: very few products for your buck, very poor quality (some is not sanitary or inedible), and very poor concern for whether you are satisfied as a customer. It is a shame because I was really digging the concept and I was happy to be a part of it. The worst to me is that he never responded to my emails. I wish we could have worked something out. But just trust me on this one: inspect those stir fry veggies for bugs!

Upon approach to our fave Chinese roasters, I noticed ABC Market with its fresh locally (some imported) grown fruits and vegetables displays. ABC Market has been in O'ahu Market's stall #25 for some time now but it took me until today to stop, browse and make a purchase. As I browsed through the fruits and produce, I managed to purchase a couple of Hawaiian papayas, green onions and bitter melon. The papayas are still green but I don't usually buy ripe papayas because they ripen quite quickly so these will ripen over the next couple of days. But, the green onions aka scallions and bitter melon were fresh looking and priced competitively with the other nearby fruit and vegetable vendors. The cashier was soft spoken as she weighed our papayas and then the bitter melon before telling us how much to pay. Our total bill only came up $6.25. I don't think that this vendor takes credit or debit cards as most vendors in Chinatown are CASH ONLY. She packed our papayas, scallions and bitter melons in separate plastic bags which made it easier for us to put into our Yelp reusable tote bag. We'll be back either in a couple of days as I was eyeing the soursop and egg fruits but didn't get them today since we walked into town and didn't want to lug home too heavy bags.

I saw many vendors that share the same items so sooner or later if you become a regular you will have your favorite vendor you will lean towards. They have vendors that sell already prepared mainly Filipino foods and desserts. They have vendors that sell you fresh fish and seafood as well as fresh meats. I always go to farmers market but I decided to start shopping here. It's convenient for what I was looking for. I see I can buy seasonings and noodles (dry packets) as well as many other things. I will return again when I'm running low on stuff. The prices aren't terrible but not that inexpensive either. You can find some bargain vegetables that aren't pretty but for $1 a piece it's good if you're using them up that day. I say try and go around and see what you can find. Plenty of convenient parking. Nearby outside there's Kamehameha bakery, sugoi'a and other eateries. Nearby is Costco and Costco gas and Home Depot so you can't go wrong.

And even after we moved, we would still drive out just to come here for the seafood. That's how special it was to us. The reason why he chose Tamashiro over other grocery stores was simple--it was quality and because of my Nanay (grandma). His mom purchased from here and made so many delicious dishes. He knew what to look for, and he trusted this place. For him, it wasn't just about buying food... it was about getting the best for his family. My dad isn't the type to say "I love you." He shows it. One of the biggest ways he showed love was through his cooking. Even after a long day on his feet cooking for others, he would come home and cook for us. That was his way of taking care of us. I loved coming here with him. It was a five-senses overload--the smell of fresh seafood, the sound of people talking story, the colors of fish on display.
