While on vacation in Honolulu, I was introduced to Hawaiian style beef jerky…read more Sometimes called "beef chips", the beef is shaved really, really thin. The finished product is thin and (literally) "crispy". Is this really a Hawaiian innovation? I do not know. But it is a tasty twist on a known snack food. And if it is product differentiation that spawns local business, "OK". With reference to Paradise Jerky, itself: They have two stores. The primary business location is on Young Street. There is a store in Waikiki on Lauula Street, too. They also have a mail order business which I'd like to address. Going online, there are several vendors of beef chips. Paradise Jerky's product is priced well. They have good variety bundles, if you want more than one flavor. They have (perhaps) the lowest purchase minimum to earn free shipping. And once ordered, delivery is effected quickly.

Super random and lucky local find!!! I walked into this kitchen + storefront for Paradise Jerky…read morewhich sells thin, crispy beef jerky. The owner happened to be helping us and he gave us samples to help with our purchasing decision. He was very kind and friendly telling us more about his family business and each jerky flavor. He explained that their beef jerky flavors have Japanese-Hawaiian influences. I went with the original jerky which is shoyu based and the wafu is dashi based. The smoked pepper is a more traditional American beef jerky flavor. They were all extremely thin, crispy, and flavorful! Check out this business if you love beef jerky and supporting locals! TIPS: This location is only open 3 days a week, so be sure to check their hours before coming in! This is the only location you can buy large packs for $20, while small packs are $15.

I mean, innovative ice cream treats... yummie drink specials... crispy beef jerky..! This day I impulsively stopped in while I bought food provisions at market down the street. Love how the crispy jerky comes in three different sizes with the largest size being best deal per ounce. Smallest broken bits slightly discounted. So of course I had to get a few bags of the largest size of my favorite: oxtail soup flavored. Got confused when sampled a bit of the butter garlic yaki... yep a few bags of those! And a variety of other newer flavors. Also walked out with a bowl of their most delicious yakiniku over rice, a newer item. Wholey moley batman, was this delicious! Was that butter in the rice?! And topped with corn and kimchee... perfect balance of flavors. Had such a nice visit with David who came out from the back production area and Chad who was manning the front of the store. And got to meet Faith and Erin too (?). They truly showed me so much aloha. Even gave me some samples of new receipes they are considering. Hint: butternut squash; sooo yumm! Much thanks for making my day and bringing a little sunshine into this Aunty's otherwise cloudy and rainy weeks. Looking forward to returning for another beef yakiniku bowl or few... and somemore crispy beef jerky..! :-)

5-7-2020 updated review: 4 th and final delivery…read more For the convenience of not having to leave your home, once your account is set up and you are put on a route, then it's an option to consider. Quality of produce varies- now that businesses will be opening up next week, timing was perfect. For myself, I'd choose fresh and unblemished produce. Percentage wise, 70% of the time the items were okay. The remaining items I'd personally would have not chosen the quality of some items I.e., wilted, slimy ends in plastic bag, blemished dings or scratches on items, nicks in skin of produce. For this last order the items were good. Unlike last week's driver, who rang the doorbell, different driver today never sent a final text or notification that produce had arrived. With this heat, lettuce would suffer. Be cautious. My four deliveries were a gift yet I received a message after my 3rd delivery that I owed $50+- unbelievable. Also was told someone put a hold on my delivery and did I want to activate up again. Seemed screwy, and undoubtedly alarming to me. I tried to keep calm and composed so that there wouldn't be a backlash on what was in my final bag. I'm glad someone surprised me with this as a gift. Gave me the chance to experience delivery to my front door. Rocky start but remaining 3 deliveries got better. Super glad I received regular sized tomatoes and head lettuce vs loose leaf for this ending delivery. Live and let learn. Note: you need to be a lover of veggies. My crisp bin still has some unused items from last week's delivery even though I cooked daily and incorporated veggies at least twice daily. I didn't want to see another carton of tiny tomatoes for a LONG time, honest! Thankyou my gift giver and mahalo to the person who bagged my produce today- awesome job today. Okay, all pau, literally, the end.

Their puff rice snack is absolutely delicious... so light and crunchy and just the right amount of sweetness. I'm so glad I got the information from the young lady at the booth. I tried the one with the macadamia nuts while I was at the center and loved it, so that's what I mostly purchased, but I also got a bag of the one with the ginger. These are packaged so nicely that I'm going to include them in the Christmas gift bags I give out for the holidays to some well deserving friends. Each bag was only $8 at their factory (was $8.50 at the center). I've seen them for sale at Don Quixote for $10.50 a bag, so I feel like I got a bargain. On top of that, they gave me a great little reuseable shopping bag in which to carry my purchase. At the factory, you can see them making batches of these wonderful treats. They were kind enough to let me take pictures of them at work. The yummy smells floated through the air. Along with the bags I purchased, the young lady threw in a bunch of different flavor sample packages, too. Maybe this will help me decide which flavors of these amazing semi-sweet snacks I'll purchase next time! Yummy!!
