We had a craving for hot pot and found this little place through Yelp. So glad we had dinner here. It was all you can eat and so worth it! We each chose a different broth and meats which was brought to our table. As for the other goodies, it was self serve. The selection of veggies was plentiful and were very fresh. Came here for dinner. Unfortunately missed the early bird special from 4-5pm. Server was super friendly and greeted us as soon as we walked in. Sat us at a table and brought water and took soup and meat orders. After that, I went to the self-serve area to get sauces and vegetables. I was impressed by the selection of sauces. They also had a wide variety of seafood and vegetables. The seafood was on ice and the vegetables looked freshly cut and not withered. The sauces were good, but were on the sweet side. Meat was good and the server kept coming around to check on us. I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures! Came here for my daughter's bday and took advantage of the early bird hours so we could get it a little cheaper! The food was good, broth wasn't as flavorful as I would've liked but it was still good. Sauce station, veggies and miscellaneous items was filled with fresh ingredients and very clean. Our server was the only one I believe but she took care of us and the other tables seated very well. Checked up on us often but was not bothersome. Came here for the first time recently. It was empty at 4:45p. Small parking lot right by the entrance, or free street parking if you can find it. We walked in to a warm greeting. The hostess/server/cashier/bartender/foh asked how many in our party and told we could sit *almost* anywhere in the whole place. We chose a booth against the back wall, but I wish we had selected a table closer to the fridge and bar instead. The selections were great. I was really impressed with the availability of veggies, noodles, tofu, meats, sauces, and even seafood. All included with your AYCE hot pot. You can select your broth (I mixed the house shoyu and miso) and the pot comes out pretty quickly. Then you order meats and any rice. So, the food is good. It's not the bessst tasting hot pot I've ever had, but you can kind of make it your own with whatever you put in the pot. Totally all good, especially for the happy hour price of $27 per person before 5p. However, I read some reviews before we went, and they agreed about the food, but said the service was terrible. This was sort of our experience as well. The girl working was nice, but just not very attentive. We had to flag her down several times, and this is why I wish we had sat closer to the bar, closer to her. If you want good food and don't care about good service, then this is your spot. I'd still come back. At least I have expectations about service here. I really do hope this place continues to succeed. It's a decent local spot. It was Friday night and we didn't know where to go out for dinner. My eldest son suggested this hot pot restaurant in Kaneohe that he and his friends frequent. I'm glad that we tried it. The food was plenty and so tasty. Dinner was $33 per person for all you can eat. Definitely got my money's worth. Service was fast and friendly. Nice place to bring the family and friends for casual dinning or a casual get together. Recommended if you got a hearty appetite. My personal opinion: some restaurants are pushing their card card business fees of 3% into customers. All retail businesses are already pushing their general excise tax of 4% to customers and now some are pushing their card card business fees. Dining out is already costing more in Hawaii. Kougi aina didn't seem to have much parking, but I don't drive myself, so i could just have missed it. It is right across from the 61's bus stop, so it can still be convenient. The nabe are family sized, so it's best to be a group. And happy hour makes that easier as it's inly 23, compared to the usual 30. And that is still cheaper than the nearest alternative. The vegetables are individually portioned and wrapped. So if any in your party have food sensitivities or otherwise need to avoid buffet style options, here may be more convenient for you. But it does mean your portions of veggies are much smaller. The pot can boil very fast. I chose the beef bone broth for my first time, as it's an option I had not seen often. It was very good and imparts its flavor to the meat very well. The house ponzu is also good. But it had a nutty flavor profile the first time I had some rather than directly citrus, so you may want to double check if you have any food sensitivities. The sauces are done buffet style, so it may just have been a ladle touching the wrong sauce or similar in my case. I ordered the pork loin, brisket, and ribeye, and all the meats I had were good. I believe they slice it as ordered, so it can take a little for meats to arrive tableside. But at you know it's fresh as possible. The mandoo are quite large, so can fall apart easy when you try to remove them from the broth. One of the mando I ate had seeds in it. So just be aware that there are different textures involved. The fishballs were tasty and had a fair amount of imitation crab. The siumai style dumplings I believe are fish based as the inside is a white meat. The fridge stickers are post it notes on the shelf, so they cab be hidden when taking your chocies. The siu mai options were crab, shrimp, and pork. The ramen i ended my meal with was very al dente, so I suggest putting it in when you boil your last meats. I poured the hot broth over it, and it didn't work out the way I hoped. Even during happy hour, you can get a complimentary shaved ice at the end of your meal. It has two syrup flavors and a generous amount of condensed milk I went on a tuesday, so things were pretty empty during happy hour, but it stayed relatively quiet past 5, so if you're a party of 4, you should be able to get seated easily, and with the size of the nabe, even a party of six or eight should be able to squeeze in around the two big bowls, though it might be squishy. read more

Very conflicted sharing this review . Kogi Aina has always been my top hot pot place , just not sure if i will be returning , it really sucks because we love the service i have been coming here since the owners were workers. It doesn't deserve 0 stars because they have always been so good, but at the same time i've always had 5 stars for this place Some things that have changed there's no complimentary shave ice , which i personally feel was kind of what made them special aside from other hot pot places . It just gave a local vibe to it. We've always done the AYCE but now it's AYCE only. The option to do ala carte has been discontinued too. The new refrigerated section was interesting , i liked it but we noticed there weren't the same staples we enjoyed in the past (i.e. enoki mushrooms, arabiki sausages, okra, and the bamboo pork hash). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant layout is different as well it's definitely a lot more open and feels more spacey.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The gochujang was the usual soup base i liked but that seemed to taste more watered down this time like it was being stretched out . It lacked its usual punchy savory flavor. I also get the oxtail broth but opted to try the beef bone broth , it was decent. The ponzu sauce also tasted a bit different too, it kind of had a lemony taste to it which it didn't have in the past. The serving sizes for meats seemed a lot smaller compared to before when we'd get the AYCE too. This happened some time end of last year and I just haven't returned since. Service was not great. And it's so unfortunate cause I've had pleasant experiences with Kogi Aina in the past. But that particular night, we walked in at 7:55p, the young girl behind the counter just gave us an "ugh" look. They didn't close until 9pm and she appeared to be the only one working beside kitchen staff. She didn't say anything, just looked at us until I gestured for 2 people with my hand. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only available tables were messy. So she had to clean one of them to seat us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once we were seated, she was glued to the register. She didn't look over at us at all, nothing. We sat for about 15 minutes and she was in the exact same spot. There were other tables occupied, already eating except for one. They were just sitting as well, waiting. I got up to leave. The young girl behind the cashier didn't even look up as we left. The other table waiting also got up after us and left. I get it in the restaurant industry, if you're slammed and alone, it gets hectic. But it's so important to communicate with your customers. read more

We were feeling like hot pot after church and decided to give Kogi Aina a shot. Parking lot is narrow and in desperate need of resurfacing. The pork belly and ribeye were perfectly sliced. The cold buffet of various vegetables and noodle offerings were sufficient stocked. The refrigerator selection was decent with fish cake, seafood balls, raw shrimp, tripe, etc. Sauce choices were great and encouraged mixing and matching. I came out of Yelp retirement because I'm so irritated by my recent experience. I've patronized this restaurant several times years ago and it easily could get 5 stars. Kogi Aina offers AYCE hotpot in Kaneohe. It's on the cheaper side, and a particularly great price if you can get there for happy hour... I believe it's from 4pm-5pm. I love hotpot and Kogi Aina is one of my favorites because of the price :) The location is near Windward mall, but it's easy to miss, so just drive slowly. The parking lot also holds like 4 cars, so be prepared to look for street parking. The people working here are nice though! First you choose your broth. I usually get the house broth, but I tried the beef bone and it was good, too. They have spicy options, too. But what makes this whole thing better is that there is a sauce bar and the sauces are good! I really liked the lemon ginger one that was out the last time I was here. You order your meats with the waiter. The have pork, beef, tongue and lamb meat options which I feel like is a pretty good selection. They also have a refrigerator full of veggies, seafood and noodles and tofu. On my most recent visit, they also added a dry noodle area. The variety is maybe slightly less than other places and while the broths are good, I go to other places for their broths more than here. Highly recommend this place for AYCE hot pot! We came after going to Kualoa Ranch and it hit the spot after a fun day zip lining. Pros +AYCE (All You Can Eat) hot pot is a really good price compared to other places on the island. Everyday until 6pm is $21/person. Regular price after 6pm is $28/person. +Good cuts of meat. My favorite was Rib Eye & Short Rib. Pork Belly and Cow's Tongue was tasty as well. +Variety of hot pot broths! I recommend the Oxtail and Shoyu, really flavorful. +Drinks are on sale during happy hour. We got a 22 oz of Kirin for $7. There's also soju cocktails for $13. +At the end of the meal, they generously give you shaved ice! Complimentary and shared family style. I believe the flavors were Orange, Melona +Good service overall given it was super busy. Cons +parking is tight, however there is street parking and you are allowed to park at the Pancake House after 5pm. +Sunday happy hour is only from 5-6pm. +Located in an industrial area, easy to miss! I feel torn writing this because in the past Kogi Aina was my favorite restaurant in Kaneohe, but I don't think we will be returning anymore. It doesn't deserve 3 stars bc they've always been awesome but at the same time I'm hesitant to give 4. If you haven't visited in awhile, here are some updates: - Shave ice has been discontinued. Not a deal breaker but just fyi. - Hot pot is AYCE only. The option to do ala carte has been discontinued which was a disappointment for us bc I was planning to order hot pot ala carte & my significant other wanted bibimbap but we both had to get AYCE since everyone at the table has to get AYCE and ala carte is no longer an option. - The new "buffet" was nice and had some options I did not recall seeing in the refrigerator previously. I did enjoy that. - [[HIGHLIGHT]]The platform where there were previously 2 tables sitting above the rest of the tables is now gone so all tables are on the same level. I never sat up there and it doesn't bother me either way but thought I'd mention it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The shoyu house spicy was always my favorite. Of course I ordered it again, but this time the server brought regular shoyu broth and then brought a cup of whole chili peppers on the side and told me if I put it in it's the same thing. Don't sleep on Kogi Aina and their location. I drive past this place all the time and finally stopped for dinner. The all you can eat option is very worth it-$20. The price for all you can eat is like $9 cheaper than their competitors. The broth I tried was good! They had fresh vegetables and house made noodles. Could tell it was a small family ran business because everyone was hustling. The service was amazing , always clearing the table, filling water, chatting etc. Lastly, i took a picture but already dug in to the shave ice. Was so disappointed Because We ate here a few years ago and loved it. But today we should have stopped and left at the beginning of our meal. After having the mandoo expecting it was going to be home made like before but this time it was frozen and it was as if it was from the Grocery Store. And for 6 pieces it was 12 dollars...The cook had only slippers on and No gloves and kept going to his car in the parking lot.. All the chicken we had was nuked in the microwave and then reheated and grilled. Could see that gloves were not being used. AYCE hot pot for $21?! Say no more. I love Kogi Aina's happy hour (from 3-6pm I believe). The have a variety of broths and most of the ones I've tried have been really good. I especially like their house shoyu spicy broth. You order your meats from the server and then you pick your own veggies/seafood/noodles in the fridge. The meat quality is pretty good here and better than some other hot pot places. They also have a sauce station where you can make your own sauces. I like to mix mines up a bit and add even more spices/chili. Service is always great and the staff are attentive. The only downside (for me at least) is that it's all the way in Kaneohe which I don't frequent very often. As for parking, they do have a small lot but there's also some parking on the street. Updated review. This has become a go to spot for me! As per all indoor businesses currently, you have to wear masks when not seated at your table, and if there's a wait, it's best to sign in and wait outside. The parking lot is small so if you can carpool, that's better, but there is usually street parking options nearby. Haven't been since the state implemented the vaccine requirements, but did go a few times before and it was pretty chill. The only complaint I have is the sauce bar is still serve yourself, which I'm not a fan of these days. Not a biggie for me cause I just skip that option. For the good, they have delicious broth options and the "All You Can Eat option" is a great deal! The majority of their broths are vegetable based, so anyone can eat them. I don't eat pork, so I'm often limited, but not here. The flavors are on point, you can pick your proteins, and you can add a ton of fresh veggies. And make sure you save a tiny bit of room at the end of your meal for the complimentary shave ice they provide. Super smooth and tasty! So stoked we found this place on yelp! We love hot pot and have never checked this place out before. We were excited to see it was down the street frpm our house and the reviews were great. Got to the spot, try and beat the rush cause parking is limited but i did notice you can snag parking at the Koa Pancake House if it fills up. We were greeted and checked in right away. Wait wasnt long at all only 15 min and we made the happy hour so we were even more pumped. We checked the menu and decided to go with all you can eat. It was such a good deal because we had our kids with us and if theyre under 5 they can eat for free. Im definitely coming back for that hot stone bibimbop though. They have a wide selection of broths, meats, and sides. We just decided to go with what we know we can devour, the short rib and ribeye. After your order is taken was my favorite part make your secret sauce concoction and raid the fridge for all the seafood, noodles, and veggies. We didnt hold back the next 30 min was full of unpacking plate after plate of deliciousness and trying different sauce combinations along the way. The cherry on top was definitely the shave ice, the perfect end to bring us to a hault lol. In the end we were stuffed to the gills and smiles all around. All in all it was an awesome experience, the wait staff amazed me as well running the floor with only 2 servers. After choosing your broth, you head out to the refrigerator to select various veggie items and seafood. You order the meats from your server. Overall, I was pleased with the broth selections. I ordered the house broth, which was very tasty. After cooking all the various items, the broth flavor pleasantly changed. I went to the frig to get ramen noodles to end my meal. You can personalize it by choosing the meat, or veggies of your choice Still a great item, this has not changed. We will continue to come here for this dish, but next time, we will try the hot pot. There is a $10 charge for waste for the hot pot, so do not make your eyes bigger than your stomach. We also ordered bbq chicken and gyoza. Thumbs-up to both items. The chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces, was tender with a nice char. Not too salty, it had the right amount of spices. The gyoza confused us as it looked like mandoo. I have two regrets when it comes to Kogi Aina - 1) waiting so long to try this place (I've been missing out!) and 2) not going AYCE for the hot pot. It's hard to decide on what to order here, but everything looks and sounds really good. My advice to you? Plan on coming here at least twice - once to try the hot pot and once to try bi bim bap and other enticing dishes on the menu. For the hot pot, I would suggest doing the AYCE, especially if you have kids under 6, b/c they're free! Those little colored plates add up easily, trust me (think Genki Sushi). And since you're going to go AYCE, it doesn't make sense to fill yourself up on the ala carte items that are not included in the AYCE (like they're fried mandoo which are ultra plump and juicy!). AYCE Korean isn't new, but this is hot pot done right. On the mainland Momo Paradise is a great franchise, but in Oahu this is where it's at. Still underrated, but good if you want to find a local spot. I love the idea you can go to the fridge to get veggies and order meat to the table. Service is exceptional here and let me tell you Alyssa is top notch. We visited twice during our stay and a Sunday stop in it was busy! She was so friendly and always checking on us. Sadly, good customer service is rare these days and Alyssa sets the bar. Personally I like the hole in the wall look. Once a mom and pop shop go big they tend to get more expensive and the prices go up. Value is very fair during Happy Hour. The first time we ate here was Feb 2020 so not only am I happy this place is still open, but not much has changed and that is a huge compliment. Came here before 6 pm for Happy Hour and I really got to eat my fill for only $20!! Parking is pretty crazy, but it's free to park at Kaneohe Pancake House after 5 pm. House shoyu broth was so delicious. Really glad I got that broth. The ribeye was my favorite meat. Wish there was less syrup in the shave ice dessert afterwards because it was a bit too sweet after everything we ate. The sauce station is not too Covid-safe because the sauces are out for grabs out in the open. read more
