Hahah. And now that their retail location is open for walk-in business, makes it that much more fun to see, hold, ponder on all the goodness in this store. I mean, innovative ice cream treats... yummie drink specials... crispy beef jerky..! This day I impulsively stopped in while I bought food provisions at market down the street. Love how the crispy jerky comes in three different sizes with the largest size being best deal per ounce. Smallest broken bits slightly discounted. So of course I had to get a few bags of the largest size of my favorite: oxtail soup flavored. Got confused when sampled a bit of the butter garlic yaki... yep a few bags of those! And a variety of other newer flavors. Also walked out with a bowl of their most delicious yakiniku over rice, a newer item. Wholey moley batman, was this delicious! Was that butter in the rice?! And topped with corn and kimchee... perfect balance of flavors. Had such a nice visit with David who came out from the back production area and Chad who was manning the front of the store. And got to meet Faith and Erin too (?). They truly showed me so much aloha. Even gave me some samples of new receipes they are considering. Hint: butternut squash; sooo yumm! Great selection and availability. There aren't many places to get the crispy beef jerky aside from farmers' markets, so we were lucky to find Snack Addicted on our recent trip. They now offer smaller package options, which are great if you don't know what flavor you want. I think in general the price per oz is a little high. If I recall $10 for 1.25 oz bag? I do remember seeing them at some event and they had all the samples displayed so I knew the lightness yet very flavorful of their crispy beef jerky and have wanted to pick up some and found them located right across Ala Moana Center...next to Purve Donut to be exact so you need to drive up the ramp and you'll easily seem them and with lots of free parking is easy and stress free. Door is locked as the staff are usually in the back when the shop is empty but a simple ring and they let you in and in this cozy shop is huge rack filled with various flavors and yes they do have special flavors as well that don't last long so keep following them for updates as what they come up with are fun and unique. just a public service announcement - snack addicted storefront is now re-opened! They are on the second floor on Kona street, next to Purve donuts! hopefully their food menu makes a comeback too! They are also found on the weekends sometimes at Ala Moana mall next to Target. I am honestly not a snacker, but their beef chips are delicious!! ive eaten a bag in one sitting before, and yes it is addicting! I wanted to pick up snacks before my flight and I was like I HAVE to get beef jerky's chips because they are just so easy to snack on. I tried snack addicted when they did a pop-up at the Made in Hawaii event and it was super good. I highly recommend trying the Ox Tail Soup flavor and their seasonal Yuzu Ponzu beef jerky chips. They also have really tasty pork rinds in a variety of flavors that I highly recommend trying. Beyond the snacks, they sell locally designed merch, and I'm honestly mad at myself for not grabbing some stickers - definitely something I'll go back for next time. I tried this snack from a street fair one year and loved their beef chips. Tried other crispy jerky from other brands and was left disappointed. Had to go find them at their office cause I can't find them at any stores. Love their Yakiniku and Maui onion flavors. When I went recently they were out of the big bags and only had the little bags on some of the flavors. The little bags cost more per oz and I wish they were able to adjust the price for me since they were out of the big bags. I was willing to buy more bags to make it equivalent, but they wouldn't budge. Or if they were able to just package it in the back for me. COVID-19 review During a recent discussion with a fellow Yelp friend about local snacks and foods that elicit memories, I suddenly thought about eating crisp beef jerky chips at Side Street Inn (SSI). That memory took me back to the mid-to-late 2000s. During our recent dine at Side Street Inn, I inquired about those beef chips. Unfortunately, SSI no longer sells those chips, so I went on a hunt. But, thanks to reading reviews, I remembered Snack Addicted through other Yelp Friends touting beef chips and other local snacks such as pork rinds and pepperoni sticks. Our first visit to Snack Addicted was on the same day that we dined at Side Street Inn, as it's located just a few steps away. Sadly, by the time we got to Snack Addicted, we discovered that due to COVID-19 restrictions, they were only taking online orders and were not allowing in-person browsing of their store. A very nice young man came out of the storefront and inquired if we were there to pick up an order. Tsk, no, we were just following our taste buds at the time, but the young man politely guided me to their QRC menu and website (www.snackaddictedhi.com) to order. So, after taking photos of their QRC and web address, I went home to see what was on their menu. What are beef chips? Imagine beef slices that are thin and crispy and have the same smoky flavor as traditional beef jerky. Instead of dried beef that is tough, hard, and jaw-tiring chew, these chips have the satisfying crunch of potato chips with the savory satisfaction with no refined starch. So, if you're trying to cut your carbs or on a keto diet, these beef chips can be your high-protein snack. I placed my order online after 4 PM and received an order confirmation and pick-up information the next day. When I arrived at Snack Addicted to pick up my order, I called their phone number to provide my order number and inform them that I'd be outside of their store waiting for my order. The same young man came out of the store with my order and presented my ID and confirmation text. I chatted with him, saying I was planning to send the products to a Mainland friend. He mentioned they could've packed them and sent them directly as they have custom-sized boxes for shipping these 2.6 oz bags. However, I had other items to ship along with these snacks and took his packing recommendation to prevent the bags from shifting or being crushed. But, I'll keep the direct ship or gift shipping in mind to send snacks to my relatives, too. Anyway, the other flavors and products that they offer are posted on their web page. Son in Washington requesting beef chips so a quick Yelp search led me to this place. It's located on Kona St., upstairs in the Iolani Center behind Side Street Inn. There's a parking lot when you go up the ramp. During this Covid time, you can order online, call ahead to place an order or go down to the store and ring the doorbell. They'll come out and take your order. Can't go inside for now. We got the original, yakiniku for our son and the ox tail soup chips for us. Didn't get to taste the first 2 since they were omiyage but man, if they taste anything like the ox tail soup one... heaven! It was amazing how the chips tasted JUST like ox tail soup! I was able to snag the green dragon, original, yakiniku, garlic parm pork rinds and several bags of the pet treats. I wish I had ordered more! My fiancé already asked me to order more! Yeah... graveyard shift blues... Anyway, since I was there, I browsed around. The owner let me taste some of the beef jerky chip flavors. I told him that I didn't want any spicy, so he gave me the Oxtail Soup and Teriyaki flavors. I got two bags of the Original flavor... I regret not buying more. Beef jerky chips are crispy and thin. In my opinion, they're easier to eat because there's less work/chewing involved. I enjoyed the crunch and flavor so much that I almost finished the whole bag while driving home! It's drier than regular beef jerky, so it's not sticky and messy. One bag is just $12 - it's worth it! If you haven't tried anything from here, you must. The snack are so tasty and like the name implies, addicting. Pork rinds are on point. Good size pieces and full of flavor. My favorite is the white pepper vinegar flavor. Like OMG. If you love vinegar flavored things, this one packs a punch of flavor. I have definitely annoyed a couple of people on voice chat before because I couldn't stop eating them. Their freeze dried strawberry guri guri is also to die for - if you can get your hands on them. I saw a You tube commercial which featured the name Davin Fukumoto. I stopped and started the view from the start. I realized this was my late friend's son, who was only a teen when his father passed. I immediately went to the website and ordered. A few days later my package arrived and I rushed with anticipation to open it, and taste a bit of Honolulu from Bonney Lake, Washington. I was immediately surprised at how tasteful and melt in your mouth these jerkeys are. Not overly spiced as some other jerkys and reasonably priced at $13.00 a bag. Oh, I forgot to mention, they also have beef jerkys for dogs and I offered some to my doggies. They loved it and kept hanging around for more but I had to put a stop to it because it was almost dinnertime. Now, these jerkys are given as a treat or when I need to coax them inside from out. This is ultimately the best beef chips! The best road trip food snacks! I can eat the whole bag! My friends and family brought me back some from Hawaii! I love it!
